The research results of gross chemical composition of peat soils and pyrogenic formations are shown. It was established that oxides of silicon, calcium, iron, aluminium and others are dominated in mineral composition of the ash peat soils. Change in gross chemical composition of peat horizons within the profile depending on soil-forming rocks is shown. It is characterized the chemical composition of genetic horizons of pyrogenic modified peat soils and changes during the first years of postpirogenic period. The process mineralogy of potassium-rich shale from Chaoyang of Liaoning, China, was studied. Research results showed there are much less variety and smaller quantities in mineral compositions. Calculated mineral composition by means of chemical composition analysis combined with XRD, MLA, IR and TG-DSC analyses showed that main minerals with were Potassium-feldspar, muscovite, biotite and illite, and gangue minerals were quartz and small amounts of hematite. Potassium-rich minerals such as potassium-feldspar and muscovite contact smoothly with quartz respectively, and there was the direction arrangement among potassium-feldspar, quartz and muscovite in the shale. And quartz and hematite were main cement in the shale. The influences of the research results on the potassium extraction from potassium-rich shale were distinct.

In the definition which I have given, a mineral is described as a body possessed of a definite chemical composition and a regular physical form,—meaning by the latter particularly crystalline structure. But, while the crystalline relations of each species only vary within the narrowest limits, the chemical composition has a much wider latitude. Many individuals of the same mineral species are found, by analysis, to differ most widely in their chemical components, while the crystalline form is quite unaltered. Now, although we are as yet unable to trace the relation between the form of a mineral and its composition, there can still be little doubt that some such relation does exist, regulated by laws yet to be discovered; consequently, when we find the same mineral species differing widely in chemical proportions, we recognise a departùre from regular although unknown laws, and seek for a cause. This we find in the doctrine of Isomorphism. This, simply stated, in the capability of two or more substances, of analogous chemical constitution, to crystallize in similar forms.

Cured and smoked ham and bacon 20 pigs equally divided between genders (barrows and gilts) and dietary treatments (0 and 20 ppm ractopamine) were chemically analyzed for specific components (fat, Na, K, Cl and NO2). Cuts from gilts had higher contents of K and NO (P < 0.05) while cute from barrows exhibited higher contents of Na and Cl (P < 0.05). Cuts from ractopamine-treated pigs had higher contents of Na, Cl, K and NO2 (P < 0.05) However, the observed differences in chemical composition between barrows and gilts and between control and ractopamine treatments may be attributable to differences in fat content. Composite results illustrate the chemical composition of ham and bacon from barrows and gilts and confirm the effect of dietary ractopamine in reducing carcass lipids. The results of studies of the gross chemical composition of soil of Sian-Dniester upland were given. Features of oxide content in soils and soil-forming rocks were considered. The changes that take place in one of the most conservative substances of soil due to anthropogenic use are analyzed. Fossils of marine reptiles are a new jewelry and ornamental material and collected in the Ulyanovsk region from the Upper Jurassic deposits. They consist of (wt. %): calcite — 52, apatite — 24 and pyrite — 23, and also gypsum presents. The contents of radioactive and carcinogenic elements are close to background. The original bone structure of reptiles is preserved. Apatite replaces the bone tissue of marine reptiles, forming a cellular framework. According to the chemical composition, apatite refers to fluorohydroxyapatite with an increased Sr content. The size of the crystals is finely-dispersed. Calcite and pyrite fill the central parts of the cells. Calcite crystals of isometric and elongated shape, 0,01—0,05 mm in size, form blocks up to 0,3 mm during intergrowth. Calcite fills thin, discontinuous veins along the contour of cells with a width of up to 0,03 mm. In calcite, among the impurity elements, there are (wt. %, on the average): Mg — 0,30, Mn — 0,39 and Fe — 0,96. Pyrite forms a dispersed impregnation in calcite and apatite, content of impurities is, wt. %: Ni — up to 0,96 and Cu — up to 0,24. On technological and decorative characteristics of fossils of sea reptiles of Ulyanovsk region are qualitative jewelry and ornamental materials of biomineral group, allowing to make a wide assortment of jewelry and souvenir products.

Background: There are many beneficial effects such as reducing the risk of obesity, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and hypercholesterolemia from Amorphophallus sp. This reports are research results of physicochemical properties of glucomannan flour from tubers of Amorphophallus paeoniifolius cultivated in Thua Thien Hue. Materials: Glucomannan flour from tubers of Amorphophallus paeoniifolius (Dennst) Nicolson – Araceae cultivated in Thua Thien Hue. Method: Identify the quantity and physicochemical properties by many methods such as using enzymes, chemistry, physical chemistry, spectroscopic methods, laser analysis. Results: Identified starch and glucomannan quantity, physicochemical properties and indicators of microbiological of glucomannan flour. Conclusion: From the achieved results set up quality standards of glucomannan flour from tubers of Amorphophallus paeoniifolius cultivated in Thua Thien Hue. Lessonia berteroana (ex L. nigrescens) is kelp freely harvested from Open Access Areas (OAA), and to some extent controlled, from Management and Exploitation Areas for Benthic Resources (MEABR). Harvesting pressures can change population dynamics, mainly in OAAs. In particular, harvesting may alter the chemical components of plants. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the harvesting effects on the chemical composition of L. berteroana from MEABR and OAA sampled during different seasons (spring and fall) and at two sites (Talquilla and Lagunillas) near Coquimbo (30°S), Chile. The crude protein (13.5 ± 1.0%), total lipids (0.9 ± 0.2%), crude fiber (16.3 ± 1.6%), ash (30.1 ± 1.5%), and nitrogen-free extract (39.2 ± 2.0%) contents of L. berteroana were within reference values for Laminariales species. Population descriptors and chemical analyses showed that harvesting had local effects, rather than being affected by a resource management strategy (OAA vs MEABR). The seasonal anticipator nature of L. berteroana may explain the detected seasonality of it's chemical composition. Regarding functional morphological structures, chemical composition in the fronds was more variable than in the stipes and perennial holdfast, probably since leaves are ephemeral structures susceptible to environmental changes and that play a functional, rather than structural, role in kelp. In the context of Chilean kelp resource management, monitoring chemical composition is useful for determining optimal harvesting periods to local scale and for deciding when commercially valuable compounds, such as alginate, should be extracted. These data also complement harvesting pressure indicators based on L. berteroana demographic parameters.

In view of growing requirements of the food industry regarding elderberries (genus Sambucus), a need to increase their productivity and improve their chemical composition has emerged. With this purpose in mind, numerous elderberry interspecific hybrids have been created. In the present work, the content of minerals in their crucial plant parts was studied. It was also investigated whether superior genotypes regarding the mineral composition of berries and inflorescences could be predicted at early stages of plant development. The results showed that elderberry leaves contained the highest amounts of Ca, Mg, Mn, Zn, and Sr, while K and P were predominant in fruit stalks. Fe and Al prevailed in roots and Cu in bark. Although berries showed lower mineral content compared to other plant parts, their mineral content is not negligible and could be comparable to other commonly consumed berries. Genotypes with a favorable mineral content of inflorescences and berries could be predicted on the basis of known mineral composition of their shoots and leaves. The study also indicates that S. nigra genotypes and the majority of interspecific hybrids analyzed are suitable for further genetic breeding or cultivation.

Abstract Background This study examined how rhizosphere fungi influence the accumulation of chemical components in fruits of a small population species of Cinnamomum migao. Results Ascomycota and Basidiomycota were dominant in the rhizosphere fungal community of C. migao. Pestalotiopsis and Gibellulopsis were associated with α-Terpineol and sabinene content, and Gibellulopsis was associated with crude fat and carbohydrate content. There were significant differences in rhizosphere fungal populations between watersheds, and there was no obvious change between fruiting periods. Gibberella, Ilyonectria, Micropsalliota, and Geminibasidium promoted sabinene accumulation, and Clitocybula promoted α-Terpineol accumulation. Conclusion The climate-related differentiation of rhizosphere fungal communities in watershed areas is the main driver of the chemical composition of C. migao fruit. The control of the production of biologically active compounds by the rhizosphere fungal community provides new opportunities to increase the industrial and medicinal value of the fruit of C. migao.
