This article is dedicated to the seminars on literary translation from Bulgarian into Russian held regularly over the course of several years for students of the Department of Slavic Philology at Lomonosov Moscow State University by associate professor Olga Rzhannikova (1955–2014). The article discusses Rzhannikova’s approach to teaching Bulgar- ian and the role of different types of translation in training future linguists. The learning process at the translation seminars is described through the eyes of its participants: students of the Slavic and Russian departments at the MSU Faculty of Philology who studied Bulgarian as their primary foreign language. Notable features of the seminars included the active participation of each student as well as the detailed discussion and analysis of all translation options. Seminar participants translated works by famous Bulgarian writers, which allowed them to not only practice their translation skills but also to familiarize themselves with contemporary Bulgarian literature. Several participants went into translation professionally and are currently successfully working in this field. After the death of Olga Rzhannikova in 2014, some of her former seminar participants continued her work teaching translation from Bulgarian to anyone interested. This continued for several more semesters, for as long as there were people still interested in taking the course. The purpose of this article is to preserve the memory of Olga Rzhannikova not only as a professor of Bulgarian language, history, and dialectology but also as a professor of translation, as well as to highlight and preserve the tradition of translating Bulgarian literature into Russian. The article outlines some of the accomplishments of the seminars: translations of short stories by Georgi Gospodinov, Deyan Enev, Peter Chukhov, and Yordan Radichkov.

The article is devoted to the consideration of the role of student support in the adaptation of the Finn-ish short-term program of skills formation “Skilful Class” on the territory of Russia. The program is realizing in Russian educational organizations within the framework of joint projects of Moscow State University of Psychology & Education and Helsinki Brief Therapy Institute. The implementation of projects is realizing with the accompaniment of student-mentors, whose participation, presumably, has a positive effect on the effectiveness of the “Skilful Class” program. The article considers the in-teraction between children and student-mentors from the point of view of their generational commu-nity, as well as the creation of a supportive community in the process of skill formation. Information about the methodological basis of the program is given and the 15-step algorithm of its action is de-scribed, with the rationale for the participation of student-mentors in its implementation. A number of psychological problems for the prevention of which the program is used by foreign and Russian specialists are indicated.

Dubrovskaya — a Sinologist, art critic, journalist and author, editor-in-chief of the Oriental Courier magazine and, since 2021, head of the Department of Oriental History at IOS RAS — is timed to coincide with her 60th anniversary. The conversation touches on questions of education in Asiatic studies at the Institute of Asian and African Countries at the Lomonosov Moscow State University; the role of Oriental studies in society in the late 20th and early 21st centuries; and some peculiarities of the development of Oriental studies in the Soviet and post-Soviet times. The interview talks about the most prominent scholars Dr Dubrovskaya worked with, the special aspects of Oriental studies, and raises some controversial questions of gatekeeping in humanities, as well as the global phenomena of Orientalism and “Occidentalism”.

The article is dedicated to the memory of Mikhail Konstantinovich Treushnikov, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Scientist, Head of the Department of Civil Procedure of the Law Faculty of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. The article analyzes the methodology of teaching civil procedure, focuses on the methodology of lecturing, seminars, and game processes. Mikhail Konstantinovich paid great attention to the methodology of teaching civil procedure. The author of the article offers a study of the section “Methods of Teaching Law” from the book “Creative Search in the Science of Civil Procedure Law” by M.K. Treushnikov published in 2020. This section presents methodological recommendations on how to prepare and give lectures for newly elected judges at the republican training courses for legal officers on two subjects: “Preparation of civil cases for trial is a mandatory stage of the process”, “Types of evidence in civil proceedings”. The other two articles in this section are devoted to different issues. One is devoted to the methodology of teaching law in non-law universities (on the example of Moscow State University), the other is written on the basis of a speech “Traditions and Innovations in Legal Education” at the conference meeting of the heads of the departments of social sciences of the Lomonosov Moscow State University on 16 February 2007 and shows the role of departments in solving the problems of legal education.

The article describes the first official meetings between the leaders of the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, BRE Global Limited and the Russian Green Building Council in Moscow on the topic of the localization of the Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) to for the Russian Federation. It outlines the main steps taken and the actions to be undertaken of the parties to those proposed activities. Then a brief overview is provided of the main aims of the partners’ organisations, their positions in the countries and their purposes. The main part of the article summarises the benefits of an international “green” standard. There is an introduction to the National Scheme Operators, the processes involved in the BREEAM schemes and the role assessors play. The main intention for the article is to show the potential for synergy when connecting the country’s largest organisations involved in sustainable construction.

In May 2018 the Engineering Graphics Chair celebrates 90 years from the date of its foundation. The Chair was organized in 1928. The paper tells the Chair’s history, its teachers and heads, as well as a brief description of its scientific work. In 1900 were established the Moscow Higher Feminine Courses (MHFCs). A year after the October revolution, in late 1918, MHFCs were transformed into the 2nd Moscow state University. In 1930 the 2nd MSU was reorganized into three independent institutes: medical, chemical-technological and pedagogical ones. In May 1928 was organized the Chair of Technical Drawing, this moment is the counting of Engineering Graphics Chair existence. The first head of the Chair was S.G. Borisov. Than the Chair was supervised by Associate Professor A.A. Sintsov (from September 1932 till January 1942), Associate Professor M.Ya. Khanyutin (in 1942–1952), Associate Professor N.I. Noskov (in 1954–1962), Associate Professor F.T. Karpechenko (in 1962–1972), Senior Lecturer N.A. Sevruk (in 1972–1982), Professor, Doctor of Engineering E.K. Voloshin-Chelpan (from January 1982 to August 2007), Associate Professor V.I. Vyshnepolsky (from August 2007 till present). Currently, on the Chair are carrying out researches in the following directions: Higher School’s Pedagogy; Academic Competitions of Regional and All-Russia’s Level; Loci; Geometry of Cyclic Surfaces; Theory of Kinetic Geometry; Geometries; Geometric Transformations; Theory of Fractals; Famous Geometers’ Biographies.

The research analyzed the biography of the editors of the newspaper of the 2nd Moscow State University "Za Leninym" as well as their role in the management of the publication. We used archival documents of the 2nd Moscow State University which have not been studied before. The newspaper "Za Leninym" was published from 1926 to 1930. Its editors were students and employees of the 2nd Moscow State University. In the 1920s of the twentieth century university mass media were established. There was an acute shortage of professionals who could help the large-circulation press to reach a professional level. The study found that media played an important ideological, informative, and educational role. The newspaper "Za Leninym" was no exception. The leadership of the 2nd Moscow State University was genuinely interested in publishing a newspaper, the editorial board was appointed, the issues of the newspaper and the content of "Za Leninym" were repeatedly discussed. The role of newspaper editors in its development and improvement of the quality of the content of materials and layout was also crucial. Especially it is interesting to learn about the editors who really made a big contribution into science and in the history of the country (Y. Uranovsky, A. Bagdasarov, Y. Bugaysky). Thanks to the editors the newspaper which they wanted to close at its very beginning really took off and was being published regularly until 1930 under the name "Za Leninym", and since 1931 under the name "Kultarmeets".

The article is devoted to the topical problem of modern principles of developing tests of Russian as a foreign language (RFL), taking into account the world experience. The purpose of the article is to summarize the modern principles of language test development and to show how they are implemented in the new tests of Russian as a foreign language. The materials of the article include the research papers of Russian and foreign authors in the sphere of methodology over the past 20 years, as well as modern formats of testing in foreign languages. At the first stage of the study, general scientific methods of generalization, systematization and structuring were used. At the second phase, a new format of the RFL test Reading and Use of Language (B2) was modelled, combining language and communication competence testing. At the third stage, an experiment was conducted to test the new format. 48 foreign master students studying the program Russian Language and Russian Culture in the Aspect of Russian as a Foreign Language in Saint Petersburg State University took part in the experiment. It was concluded that the modern language test, in accordance with the basic cognitive and communicative principle of learning and control, should be based on the following principles: testing skills in different types of speech activities mainly on the text material; interdependence between the type of the task and the speech genre of the text being created/used in the task; basing on a linguistic and didactic description of the communicative competence level; integrative approach; using different types of test tasks within one subtest; the principle of increasing complexity of tasks; taking into account the complexity of each task in its assessment; task feasibility according to students educational level; taking into account the values of the multicultural world; taking into account international experience; basing on reliability and validity criteria of test tasks. These principles implemented in the new TORFL-II subtest format Reading and Use of Language are presented in the article. The implementation of modern test principles should ensure that all speech control facilities are systematically allocated to the appropriate level and parameters for their assessment. The above-mentioned principles of test creation and the example of their implementation can be taken as the basis of a full-fledged system of control and measurement materials based on linguistic and didactical descriptions of each level.

The present paper focuses on the problem of values and representation of language as an artistic value. The main objectives of the research are to specify the role of artistic values for people, represent the methodology for the integration of arts into foreign language classes, evaluate its results. The research questions of the study aimed to investigate how the experimental course contributed to students’ attitude towards artistic values, the development of their language and communication skills. The outlined methodology of arts integration into foreign language classes involves teaching art terms, phraseological units about art, popular-quotations, and teaching through literary translation and dialogue of cultures. The one-term experimental integrated course of English and art classes was implemented by two secondary schools in Kyiv (Ukraine). The evaluation of the results was done with the method of qualitative research. The findings confirmed that language as an artistic value is a powerful instrument for students’ personal, artistic, and cognitive development.
