Lesson material presented in the form of data or facts and specific concepts on expository learning model helps learners to connect new material with material that precedes it, so organizers help is provided to instill meaningful learning. This study aims to determine the difference of influence of the implementation of learning model of assisted advance organizer and post organizer expository. The population in this study is all students of class X MIA SMA Negeri 3 Mataram academic year 2017/2018. Sampling is done by purposive sampling technique, and quasi experimental research uses non-equivalent control group design with pre-test-and post-test. The results obtained from the classroom given the treatment of expository learning model assisted by advance organizer and post organizer have the same tendency improvement. In both classes there is a relatively similar increase in the mastery of the previous concept, but the difference between the two is not much different. Therefore, there is no difference of influence between expository model of assisted advance organizer and post organizer to the mastery of work and energy concepts of learners.

This research was intended to analyze the effect of mind mapping towards students writing skill at the second semester students of FPBS IKIP Mataram in academic year 2015/2016. This study was quasi experimental research, where the sample was cluster randomly selected with the total number of sample was 65 students which were divided into 2 classes; 29 students were in the control group and there were 36 students belong to experimental group. In order to collect the research data, the writer used writing test to comprehend the students’ ability in managing text based on mind mapping concept. After the data was obtained, then it was analyzed by applying descriptive statistical analysis and inferential analysis. Regarding to the data analysis it was found that the students’ ability before treatment was 69.72 in the significant level 95%. On post-test data analysis, the students mean writing ability increased into 77.22. The inferential analysis or hypothesis testing also proved that the t-test was higher than t-table in the significant level 95% (α =0.05) and degree of freedom 63 (4.158 > 2.000) with ρ value (sig.) 0.00 < 0.05. It was clearly claimed that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) which stated that mind-mapping was effective towards students writing at second semester students of FPBS IKIP Mataram in academic year 2015/2016 was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) that said main-mapping is not effective toward students writing at second semester students of FPBS IKIP Mataram in academic year 2015/2016 was rejected. Those data evidently proved that mind mapping was effective towards students writing especially at second semester students of FPBS IKIP Mataram in academic year 2015/2016.

Science educational standards are increasingly emphasising on argumentation skills. However, students’ argumentation skills are often not developed well as their experience of science knowledge in schools is often in the form of uncontested facts. This research asserts that argumentation skills should be developed through explicit teaching of argumentation while engaged in practical work that draws on students’ science process skills. In turn, developing argumentation skills also improves their science process skills. Thus, this research sought to examine the effect of the Modified Argument-Driven Inquiry approach (MADI), Inquiry without Argument approach (IWA), and the conventional practical work approach (CON) on the development of argumentation and science process skills of Grade 10 students in practical biology. This research employed the quasi-experimental methodology involving Pre-test Post-test Non-equivalent Control Group design. The data were collected through tests on argumentation skills, science process skills and diffusion and osmosis concepts’ understanding. The MANOVA results showed that there was a significant improvement in the argumentation skills, science process skills and biology understanding among the students who experienced the MADI approach in practical biology. In contrast, students who experienced the IWA approach in practical biology showed significant improvement only in biology understanding. Keywords: argumentation skills, practical work, modified argument driven inquiry, science process skills
