The University of Oregon’s “Emotions and Polarization in Decisions & Media in COVID-19” (UO-EPIDeMIC) study tracked perceptions of the COVID-19 pandemic from February 17th of 2020 through December 17th of 2020 in a single cohort of 1,284 American Mechanical Turk (MTurk) workers. Affect, attitudes, risk perceptions, intentions for protective behaviors, trust in various actors, media usage, and attitudes towards potential solutions were measured throughout the pandemic’s progression. Through six longitudinal waves of surveys, we demonstrate Mturk’s potential as a tool for recruiting high-quality longitudinal cohorts of participants. The data collected through these surveys have been used in various lines of research to learn about how individuals react and adapt to a global catastrophe.

AbstractCharacteristic of Notarial as an esoteric science brings consequence which makes this science cannot be taught to person who does not possess knowledge within this field.  In order to produce high quality candidates of notary public, Some University as educational agency of notarial science provides structural position for notarial practitioner to become lecturer in Notarial Master Program at the University. This approach is conducted to adjust between learning curriculum of notarial science and learning outcome of the graduates as notary public. But this approach is obstructed with rules that are enacted in Regulation of Notary Public (Undang-Undang Jabatan Notaris) which prohibit notary public to hold double positions as lecturer coupled with practitioner. Keywords: Notary Public, Double Positions, Structural Position. AbstrakKarakteristik ilmu Kenotariatan sebagai ilmu yang esoterik membawa konsekuensi bahwa ilmu tersebut tidak bisa diajarkan oleh orang yang tidak memahami seluk beluk dunia kenotariatan. Demi menghasilkan calon Notaris yang berkualitas beberapa Perguruan Tinggi penyelenggara program Magister Kenotariatan memberikan jabatan struktural kepada praktisi Notaris yang menjadi Dosen pengajar di Perguruan Tinggi tersebut agar mampu menyesuaikan kurikulum pembelajaran dengan kebutuhan praktek nantinya. Kondisi tersebut dihadapkan dengan ketentuan dalam Undang-Undang Jabatan Notaris yang mengatur larangan rangkap Jabatan Notaris. Kata kunci : Notaris, Rangkan Jabatan, Jabatan Struktural

The article justifies for the need to identify and to keep track, in practice, of different groups of risks inherent in educational institutions under current conditions of pandemic and post-pandemic transformation of education under the influence of modern world uncertainty. Transformation of education functions in the epoch of digital economy changes the content and types of risks concomitant to the activities carried out by schools. Schools belong to the most conservative types of organizations. However, the environment in which schools operate is constantly changing. An educational institution, as any enterprise, has to engage in the activity aimed at risk management. Manifestation of the risk is, on the one hand, fraught with threats and damage, on the other hand, with opportunities. Assessment of possible threats and risks allows timely projection of undesirable results, creation of a system for situational response to unforeseen circumstances and, in the final analysis, formulation of a strategy for development of the university which would allow achievement of modern high quality education, its fundamentality and conformity to important topical requirements of the personality, society and state. Causes of developing risks characteristic of educational institutions are disclosed. External and internal risks characteristic of educational institutions, sources generating them and the importance of managing them are analyzed. The analysis of risks made reveals multi-varied threats and opportunities in the external and internal envi-ronment of the institution and their ability to have a significant effect on educational, organizational and financial activities of the schools.

From this Article, it is considered that the moderating effect of gender, for Facebook usage, and the academic performance of government university undergraduates in Sri Lanka. From 984 government university undergraduates were the respondents of this study, and the respondents were from the University of Peradeniya, University of Kelaniya, University of Colombo, and University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Gender is a moderate variable for the study. And there are 534 male undergraduate respondents, and 450 female respondents responded to the questionnaire. Using a multi - group analysis method identified the moderating effect on both male and female groups. According to the analysis results, proved that gender moderates the relationship between social media usage (Facebook) and the academic performance of the government university undergraduates in Sri Lanka.

The article reveals the roles and functions of the modern teacher of higher medical educational establishment (instructor, trainer, tutor, mentor, coach, facilitator, manager, researcher) in creating high-quality experience for students and ensuring conditions for their knowledge acquisition, competencies and skills. It was substantiated the necessity of updating the pedagogical paradigm in the higher medical school according to evolutionary personal changes of the modern youth generation. It is also established that future doctors’ healthcare and foreign language competencies formation are not evaluated adequately among the university teachers’ functions. The key tasks of the modern medical university teachers, which are interrelated and interdependent with each other, are determined.

ABSTRACT Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) is a powerful tool that is more commonly being used to recruit behavioral research participants for accounting research. This manuscript provides practical and technical knowledge learned from firsthand experience to help researchers collect high-quality, defendable data for research purposes. We highlight two issues of particular importance when using MTurk: (1) accessing qualified participants, and (2) validating collected data. To address these issues, we discuss alternative methods of carrying out screens and different data validation techniques researchers may want to consider. We also demonstrate how some of the techniques discussed were implemented for a recent data collection. Finally, we contrast the use of unpaid screens with merely putting participation requirements in the MTurk instructions to examine the effectiveness of using screens. We find that screening questions significantly reduce the number of manipulation check failures as well as significantly increase the usable responses per paid participant.

Charles Carter was appointed Lecturer in Statistics at Cambridge in 1945, and in 1947 became a Fellow of Emmanuel College. He wrote many papers in his six years at Cambridge on a range of post-war economic problems. In 1959 He became Stanley Jevons Professor of Political Economy and Cobden Lecturer at the Victoria University of Manchester. In 1962 the University Grants Committee had appointed a Planning Board to establish the University of Lancaster, with Sir Noel Hall, Principal of Brasenose College, Oxford, as Chairman. The Board made its plans for the nature of the University and its buildings on a greenfields site, and then sought a Vice-Chancellor. Charles Carter was the Board's choice. He soon proved himself to be a superb administrator. When grants for residential buildings were less than expected he borrowed the necessary funds, and had buildings designed suitable for letting to visitors during student vacations. He attracted academic and research staff of high quality, and he was influential in providing for more students choice in the nature of their degree studies.

The paper will cover all aspects of the change journey: engaging with relevant stakeholders, the recruitment and retention of high quality faculty members, the review and revision of the curriculum, improving the quality and quantity of research output and publications, developing centers of research excellence, raising the level of funding for both research and teaching, expanding the number of graduate students, developing an eminent visiting professors' program, the internationalization of the university, strengthening governance and administration and raising the international profile of the university. It will set out, in detail, the strategies and processes that were developed to realize the vision, as well as the challenges and problems encountered, and steps taken to address these challenges and problems. Mistakes were made along the way and the lessons that can be learnt for any university that aims to be involved in the ranking exercises.

The University of Texas (UT) System has been meeting educational needs of students for over 150 years. In 1997, the UT System initiated the development of the UT TeleCampus, a centralized facilitation point for distance learning. The TeleCampus opened its virtual doors in May 1998, focused entirely on support services for students. By late 1998, the TeleCampus had begun developing what would become collaborative benchmark online programs for the UT System. As a result of having developed over 12 complete online degree programs since that time, many lessons have been learned about (1) barriers to collaboration and how to overcome them; (2) faculty development and interaction; and (3) the commitment required to build successful online programs. This article describes the UT TeleCampus initiative and how it has grown from a services-only organization to a nationally recognized model for delivering high quality distance education.
