Development of women entrepreneurship in the SME sector has a crucial importance in a developing country like Bangladesh where women constitute half of the total population. The majority of them are underprivileged, under nourished, illiterate and poor. Hence, the development of women entrepreneurship has tremendous potentials for transforming the society through socioeconomic empowerment of the women. This potential is remained untapped in Bangladesh because of lower number of women entrepreneurs in business and economic activities. According to the Bangladesh Economic Review 2009, around six percent of the country’s $90 billion economy comes from SMEs, which is also the largest sector in terms of employment generation. But the women entrepreneurs are less than ten percent of the total entrepreneurs of the country. However, in the recent years, women entrepreneurship in small retail businesses of the country has been increasing which is a good sign for the positive growth of the economy.

People strategy simply aim to establish best practice in each of the HR policy areas, there have been attempts to describe people strategy as an internally coherent set of HR policies and practices. This endeavor has proven to be both difficult and elusive. As one might expect, there appears to be no one single ideal type of people strategy with a set of HR policies and practices that can be adopted by organizations seeking to manage their people more strategically (Lynda Gratton, Catherine Truss, 2003). People of a firm is a strategic asset and a very important element and the backbone of every firm (Anam, Rashi, Rad & Mizana, 2013). People strategy plays a critical role in harmonizing strategic human resource management implementation in an organization (Linda Gratten, Catherine Truss, 2012).

Cosmetic companies like Unilever sell the perception of general people about beauty through their advertisements and reinforce it to promote their business. Even they do it in disguise form using a positive name and without changing any content in advertisements. By using qualitative semiotic analysis, this research shows how fair-skinned models, white color, and white light are used in the advertisements of Unilever’s recently name changed product “Glow and Lovely” on Bangladeshi TV channels. In the ads of it, any darkness on the skin is shown as unexpected and a hindrance to beauty, success, empowerment, and equality. All of these contents promote fairness as beauty and sustain discrimination based on skin color in society. The research also reveals a close relationship between the perceptions of general people about beauty and the meanings of the ‘signs’ used in the sampled advertisements.

Purpose: The study seeks to understand the relationship between two critical success factors for the commercial success of patented innovation: the invention's market orientation and diffusion. The study also assesses the moderating effect of patent ownership in the relationship between the predictors' market orientation (MO) and diffusion (DF) with patent commercialisation success. The observation of the relationship is vital as a high percentage of registered patents in Sri Lanka are individually owned and could be a factor for poor commercial success. Methodology: The empirical study utilises a national sample of patented inventions by Sri Lankan nationals and is cross-sectional. The study used a sample of 220 patent holders from the Sri Lanka National Intellectual Property Office (NIPO) and the Patent Cooperative Treaty (PCT) databases to test the hypotheses. The study selected patents registered between 2010 and 2014. The analysis uses SPSS version 21.
