The present review focuses on the overview of the immune system regarding its protection of the human body against COVID-19 virus; illustrates the immunity boosting activity of herbal plants against SARS-CoV-2 infection. This work also provides information regarding virus structure information, immunopathogensis of virus with human body and role of Ayurveda in coronavirus disease. A number of herbal plants based active principles have been isolated and extracted with potential immunostimulant and immunosuppressant activity that can explain their beneficial use in traditional medicine and form the further research base for the future studies. The goal of this review is to foreground the immunity boosting activity of different herbal plants and its beneficial use in COVID-19 disease. Many plants and their phytochemicals, responsible for immunomodulation mechanism in SARS-CoV-2 infection have been explained. This review shall hopefully encourage researchers to undertake further work on herbal or medicinal plants with potential immunity boosting activity in COVID-19 disease.

Vasavaleha is one of the best medicine given for respiratory diseases. Corona viruses typically affect the respiratory system, causing symptoms such as coughing, fever and shortness of breath. It also affects host immune system of human body. Spreading rate of this disease is very high. Whole world is seeking for the treatment which can uproots this diseases. There in no vaccine available till date against this pandemic disease. Ayurveda mainly focuses on prevention of diseases alongwith its total cure. Rajyakshma Vyadhi is MadhyamMarga Roga as per Ayurveda. It shows many symptoms such as Kasa, Shwasa etc. By overall view of Covid 19, shows its resemblance with Rajyakshma Vyadhi described in Ayurveda. Vasavaleha is a Kalpa which is described in Rogadhikara of Rajyakshma. It shows Kasahara, Shwashara properties. It consists of Vasa, Pipalli, Madhu and Goghrita. These components shows actions like bronchodilation, antitussive effect and many more other actions. Pipalli shows important Rasayana effect. So in present review, we have tried to focus on role of Vasavaleha in the management of Covid 19. This can be used as preventive as well as adjuvant medication in treating Covid 19. There is need of further clinical research to rule of exact action of Vasavaleha against Covid 19.

It is an evident from ancient times that herbs and medicinal plants have the potential to cure a variety of diseases. Some plants boosts our immunity and make our immune system more powerful to fight againt various diseases. The medicinal effects shown by the plants are due to active principle compound present in them and they work in the same manner as the conventioal drugs. Indian herbs and medicinal plants show miraculous effects against wide variety of diseases and disorders in humansand can be better called as “elixers of life”. Currently, the interest is increasing with high pace in the use of active constituents of medicinal plants as modulator or enhancer of complex immune system. From the literature of various studies carried out in the research area , it is culminated that many of the chemicals in the form of alkaloids, flavanoids, anti-oxidants, tannins, terpenes, and glycoside products are responsible to empower the immunmodulator effect. Keeping in mind , the appreciating potential of active constituents of medicinal plants and their derived drugs, present review is an attemptto globally popularize the herbal plants with Immunomodulator Activity.

Background: Indigenous knowledge is progressively fading out because of a lack of proper record-keeping, as the knowledge is transmitted verbally. There is, therefore, a dire need for preserving this valuable knowledge by ensuring proper documentation and sharing of traditional knowledge.Aim: This research study sought to explore the indigenous knowledge used by herbal medicine practitioners for treating various human ailments in Jos Metropolis of Plateau State, Nigeria.Setting: The study was conducted using a structured questionnaire administered to 100 registered traditional healers in Jos North LGA of Plateau State.Methods: Selected medicinal plants were collected, pressed and transported to the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), Ibadan for identification, authentication and deposition of voucher specimens for voucher number at FRIN herbarium, Ibadan. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse the ethnomedicinal data.Results: Thirty-nine plant species, distributed in 33 families and 39 genera, were cited by the respondents. The Fabaceae was the most represented family, followed by the Euphorbiaceae and Myrtaceae. Leaves were the most used plant part (29%), whilstthe most cited plant habit forms include trees (48%) and herbs (31%). The herbal remedies were mostly administered orally (53%) and topically (26%), whilst the most common method of preparation was decoction (42%). The highest consensus factor (1.00) was detected for chickenpox or measles or leprosy, haemorrhoids and sickle cell ailments.Conclusion: There is an existence of a wide gap in traditional healing knowledge between the elderly and the younger generations in the study area. The high fidelity level observed in this study implied a general acceptance and preferred usage of such herbal plants for the treatment of particular ailments.

Herbal medication has grown exponentially in popularity in recent years, gaining popularity in both emerging and industrialized countries due to its natural origins and lack of side effects. To compile knowledge regarding medicinal plants used to cure diabetes mellitus, a systematic study was performed. It is a metabolic disease of the endocrine system that affects about 10% of the world’s population, with the number of people afflicted growing by the day. The profiles provide details on the scientific and family names of the plants, plant sections and research models used, hypoglycemic behavior, and active chemical agents. The vast number of plants mentioned in this analysis exemplified the role of herbal plants in diabetes care. These plants’ effects can help to delay the onset of diabetic complications and correct metabolic imbalances. This study encourages researchers to do further studies into the possible usage of medicinal plants with anti-diabetic properties.

In today's era, most of the diseases are treated by allopathic drugs. The reliance on allopathic drugs for the treatment of most diseases is gradually increasing day by day due to their rapid effects and the immediate relief to patients. However, these drugs induce some serious side effects in patients, and in some cases, the patient may die. Thus, the interest of researchers is growing day by day towards medicinal plants for the treatment of diseases. It has also been viewed that some herbal plants have great therapeutic and pharmacological effects in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The initial studies, which have been carried out by different researchers, demonstrated very valuable results and enlighten a ray of hope for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease which is associated with CNS disfunction. In this article, the author focused on those plants which are especially used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

Medicinal plants play a beneficial role in health care and are commonly used in preventing and testing diseases and specific ailments. The advantage associated with herbals plants are numerous and cannot be ignored as they have less adherence issues and are accepted widely by the population due to greater belief in Ayurveda since ancient times. Neuropathic pain has immersed as a serious threat to patient that occurs by damaging the blood vessels leading to morbidity and mortality. The present review paper aims in providing an account of various herbal plants that could be employed in treatment of neuropathic pain.

Rasayana is one among the divisions of Ashtanga Ayurveda that primarily deals with the maintenance of health. The aim of Ayurveda is prevention and promotion of health and secondly to cure disease. This can be achieved through Rasayana. It improves immunity and performs many vital functions of the human body. Rasayana therapy which is given to children is known as Bala Rasayana. Ghrita and Ksheera are mentioned as Ajasrika Rasayana. Ajasrika Rasayana is one among the classifications of Rasayana, which when used regularly provide nourishment to Rasa-raktadi dhatus and which in turn enhances Ojas. In this developing world, the rate of occurrence of the disease is more, about 24% of individuals below the age of 19 years fell sick over three times a year according to a large-scale survey conducted across India in 2019. As children are easily exposed to various disease-causing agents due to low immunity, thus the development of strong immunity is important. The worldwide epidemic of SARS-CoV-2 has created a panic situation in human beings. Covid-19 viruses spread infections into the specific human cells through cell-surface receptor ACE2 and start viral replication speedily inside the human body. The action of antibodies can reduce the entry of the virus into the cell by binding with the spike head and prevent to connect with ACE2 receptor. Many types of research are going to find the exact vaccine to control the spread of this virus. But still, now there is no vaccine and specific medicine invented still now, which is a big headache across the world. At this pandemic period, boosting of the immune system is the best way to fight against this virus. From ancient times, Ayurved is known as the best immune booster for animals and mammals. The herbal plants, such as Nyctanthes arbor-tristis L. And Withania somnifera has excellent immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, inhibition of oxidants, carcinopreventive properties with important chemicals like Withaferins, different alkaloids, steroids, amino acids. This review is based on a brief discussion of the pharmacological behaviors, active ingredients, and potential therapeutic applications of these medicinal plants.
