Organizational Commitment of Female Employees of Nepalese Financial Institutions

This paper examines the organizational commitment of female employees of Nepalese Financial Institutions (NFIs) and analyzes the factors affecting the organizational commitment. A structured questionnaire has been distributed to the female employees of NFIs. Financial Institutions have been stratified into three strata namely commercial bank, development bank and finance companies situated at Lekhnath municipality and Pokhara sub-metropolitan city. Stratified random sampling method has been applied for sampling. The sample size for this study is 122. The paper employs 18 statement questionnaire developed by Mowday, Steers, and Porter as measure of organizational commitment (OC) which is used as the dependent variable in the study. Additionally, communication, career development and role of employee, working condition, recognition and reward, role of immediate supervisor and training program as factors of job satisfaction have been considered as independent variables. Descriptive analysis has been used to find frequency, mean, and percentage. Statistical tools like correlation, independent sample t test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis have been employed. The study reveals that the female employees in NFI are found to have moderate level of organizational commitment. No significant difference is found in the OC level of the employees by marital status, job position, organizational status, educational level, and service year except the age of employee. The organizational commitment of the employees is found to be effected significantly by role of supervisor and training programme of organization. Moreover, for married employees role of supervisor is found to be important factor for organizational commitment while for single employees training programme is found to be more important.Journal of Nepalese Business Studies Vol. 9, No. 1, 2015 pp.126-136

This paper examines the influence of demographic factors on job satisfaction of employees of Nepalese Financial Institutions. The survey instrument was distributed to the employee of commercial banks, development banks and finance companies located at Lekhnath municipality and Pokhara Sub-metropolitan city. The sample size for this study was 150. The sample was selected using stratified sampling. This study presented communication, career development, and role of employee, working condition, recognition, and reward, immediate supervisor, and training pro-gram as factors of job satisfaction. Data were analyzed by using statistical tools like frequency, mean, and percentage. Moreover to test the hypothesis presented in this study, independent t-test, ANOVA analysis have been used. This research concluded that demographic variables (gender, job position, and age) influence the level of job satisfaction of employees of Nepalese financial institutions.

This study aims to examine the effect of work life balance, personality and organizational commitment on organizational citizenship behavior. The sample used in this study was 165 respondents. The sampling technique uses incidental sampling. Data analysis methods use descriptive analysis, regression analysis, and path analysis using IBM SPSS. The results showed that work life balance was not significantly positive effect, while personality and organizational commitment had a positive and significant effect on organizational citizenship behavior and organizational commitment was able to mediate the relationship between work life balance and personality on organizational citizenship behavior. The suggestion from this research is that the company should be able to develop more policies that encourage employees to be eager to contribute. For further research that is examining the same aspects to use respondents who have a position in a relatively high job, such as supervisors and managers. To be compared between employees who have positions and not have positions.

This article proposes a research model that explores the social factors affecting knowledge sharing and employee engagement and examines the mediating role of knowledge sharing on employee engagement. Data was collected from 191 employees from a large holding company and the research model was empirically tested using partial least squares analysis. The results show that coworker congruence, organizational commitment, and participative decision-making affect knowledge sharing and employee engagement. The findings also reveal that knowledge sharing has a full mediation effect between coworker congruence and employee engagement and between decision-making and employee engagement. In addition, knowledge sharing also has a partial mediation effect between organizational commitment and employee engagement. This study is a pioneering attempt to understand the effects of social factors on knowledge sharing and employee engagement. The findings of this study will be helpful to organizations using knowledge sharing systems as mechanisms to promote knowledge sharing and employee engagement.

Creativity is a natural skill often exhibited by children at home and in schools, especially during play. Children are often seen playing with drawings and moulding of objects. Hence, if care is taken to encourage and develop children’s creativity, it may enhance a sustainable development in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme. The aim of this study therefore was to determine the level of engagement of Nigerian children in creativity practice.  The study was carried out using 400 (232 boys and 168 girls) Junior Secondary School students of age eleven to thirteen as sample. Specifically, the study sought to find out whether or not the children do undertake creative activities at home and the domains in which their creative activities are based upon.  A Child-Creative Inventory Form (CCIF) was used as an instrument for data collection. Data collected were analyzed using both percentages and Chi-Square. The findings of the study revealed that Nigerian children love to engage in creative activities mostly in the domain of technical and vocational skills such as: building technology, woodwork, mechanical technology, and electrical electronics. The study revealed that 87.07% of the boys were engaged in creativity while that of girls was 73.81.5%; 7.76.% of the boys were not engaged in creativity while that of girls was 20.8%. 24.57% of the boys were not sure of their involvement while that of girls was 5.36%. In all, the study found a significant difference in the level of engagement of boys and girls in creativity with P< 0.05 level of Significance. It was therefore recommended that children who are creative in the domains of technology could be assisted to develop their career in these domains as this would be a means to sustain the TVET programme in the nation.

Background: Treatment of the urethral strictures is challenging and with appropriate evaluation preoperatively and surgery planning it is possible to achieve good results. The objective of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of dorsal onlay buccal mucosal graft urethroplasty in treating long anterior urethral strictures.Methods: Between August 2018 to July 2019 a total of 25 patients with anterior urethral stricture were treated with dorsal onlay buccal mucosal graft urethroplasty. Age, etiology of the stricture, stricture length (≤ 7 cm, and > 7 cm), and site of the stricture were assessed as the factors affecting the success rate.Results: The clinical outcome as Success was defined as the patient not needing any form of urethral instrumentation postoperatively. The mean follow-up period was 18 months. Of 25 patients, 22 (92%) were successful and 3 (8%) were a failure. There was no statistically significant difference between the age groups, etiology of the stricture and success rate (p=0.21 and p=0.444). The statistical difference was significant for the site and length of the stricture by means of success (p=0.005 and p=0.025).Conclusions: Our results show stricture length and localization are the most important variables for good success. Because of less failure rate, single-stage dorsal onlay buccal mucosal graft urethroplasty may be offered as an alternative to staged urethroplasty in case of long urethral strictures.

Abstract Objectives: This study aimed to determine the role of pre-surgical markers in the prediction of sperm retrieval in infertile Vietnamese men with azoospermia. Patients and Methods:Retrospective descriptive analysis of 136 infertile men with azoospermia, examined from August 2014 to July 2018. Patients underwent stepwise surgical sperm retrieval via percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration, testicular sperm aspiration then multiple testicular sperm extraction in up to 3 locations until sperm were detected. Factorswere analyzed to determine the prediction of sperm retrieval.Results: The overall success rate of sperm retrieval was 49.3% including 88.3% and 18.4% in the OA and NOA group, respectively. The results of sperm retrieval were significantly associated only with the OA and NOA group, not with endocrine test or testicular volume. We found no significant difference in the endocrine test and testicular volume’s result between successful and unsuccessful sperm retrieval in either group.Conclusions: Neither an endocrine test nor testicular volume should be used for predicting the results of surgical sperm retrieval in infertile Vietnamese males with azoospermia.

Tourism plays a vital role in getting to know and understand each other. In this regard, the main purpose of this research chapter is to understand the relationship between tourism and attitude change and the factors affecting this relationship. Firstly, the role of tourism in changing attitudes is discussed within the framework of Allport's Contact Hypothesis, and then qualitative research results are given. The phenomenology research design was used in the research, and the interview method was preferred in obtaining data. Six open-ended questions were asked to 12 tourists, who came to Şırnak, determined by the purposeful sampling method, with a semi-structured interview form. The answers given by the participants were determined by the descriptive analysis method. The research reveals that tourism is critical in eliminating problems between societies, opening social communication channels, reducing prejudices, and making existing attitudes more positive.

Aim: The present research was conducted with the aim of determining the relationship between the components of work engagement and organizational commitment of female employees working at University of Isfahan. Methods: The type of the research was an applied research by purpose and a descriptive correlational-type research by nature. The study population consisted of female employees at University of Isfahan, 428 individuals, of whom 202 individuals were chosen as sample according to stratified random sampling fit for the size. The measuring instrument was a questionnaire about organizational commitment by Mowday el al and a questionnaire on work engagement by Shaufeli et al. In the analysis of the findings of the research, Pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise regression, and multiple-way analysis of variance were used to examine the research hypotheses. Result: The results of the analyses indicated that correlation coefficient between work engagement and its components vigor (the desire for job), dedication, and absorption and organizational commitment is significant. Among the components of work engagement, dedication to work was the best predictor for organizational commitment. No significant difference was observed between opinions of respondents according to demographic factors concerning work engagement and organizational commitment. Conclusions: Manager implement professional standards and rules in organizations in order to maintain and promote the variables, provide employees with freedom of action and power in accordance with their duties and provide an intimate climate by involving them in decision makings

This study aims to determine the effect of person-organization fit on the mployee creativity, as well as testing the role of organizational commitment as a mediation variable that can bridge the relationship between person-organization fit on employee creativity. The population in this study are employees of SMEs confection in Jepara regency with a total sample of 279 peoples. The technique used in determining the number of samples is simple random sampling. The analytical methods used are instrument (validity and reliability), classical assumption test, descriptive analysis, regression analysis, and Path analysis. Analysis using SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution) version 21. Methods of data collection using interviews, questionnaires and literature studies. The result of the research shows that person-organization fit has positive effect on employee's creativity, person-organization fit has positive effect on organizational commitment, organizational commitment has positive effect on employee creativity, and person-organization fit have positive effect on employee creativity with organizational commitment as mediation variable. Thus, the overall hypothesis is accepted..

This quantitative study aims to identify the influence of distributive leadership on the organizational commitment of teachers. A total of 317 secondary school teachers were selected as respondents randomly from 18 national secondary schools around Kuching city. The data of this study was collected using the combined questionnaire of the Distributed Leadership Readiness Scale and the Three-Component Model Employee Commitment Survey. The findings shown that there is no significant difference in the level of teachers' organizational commitment according to the gender of the teachers. In addition, the Pearson Correlation Test found a positive and significant relationship between the distributive leadership level and the organizational commitment of teachers in the school. This study has shown that leadership and principals' ability has an impact on school organization excellence. Therefore, the role of the teacher needs to be maximized according to the teacher's expertise so that organizational commitment can be improved.
