Evaluation of seven introduced genotypes of lemon (CITRUS LIMON L.) of domestic and foreign selection in the Central Forest-Steppe of Ukraine (Department of Horticulture of Uman NUS) was carried out on the basis of economic and biological characteristics. Their systematic origin was determined and the possibility of using introduced varieties of Citrus Limon L. in the garden and park economy of the Central Forest-Steppe of Ukraine was investigated. The possibility of using introduced representatives of Citrus Limon L is highlighted and studied. in the horticultural economy of the central forest-steppe of Ukraine. Geographical origin has been clarified. The evaluation was carried out on decorative properties and basic economic and biological characteristics. Indicators of rhizogenesis of the studied varieties are carried out and generalized. This year, studies will be conducted on the phenological phases of development, flowering and fruiting of introduced plants, both in general and on the example of individual samples. A brief economic, biological and decorative characteristic of collectible lemon varieties in the conditions of the central forest-steppe of Ukraine is given, which are included in further research on the cultivation and reproduction of promising varieties for further use in gardening. For rooting, cuttings of 10–12cm in size were taken. leaving one pair of leaves on it. Rooting of Lemons was carried out on April 20–25, 2020 at an average daily temperature of 18°C. The soil mixture for rooting consisted of leaf humus, turf soil and sand in a ratio of 2: 1: 1. During rooting in the room where the experiment was conducted, optimal conditions for cuttings were provided, namely: maintaining the air temperature not lower than 25°C and humidity 80–85 %. Digging of rooted cuttings was carried out on September 24-45, 2020. After digging, an analysis of lemon rooting was performed. As a result of the conducted researches the received varietal samples had good development of root system and growth of shoots. During rooting, the cuttings were treated with a gel root-forming agent "Clonex". Plants of the selected varieties will be planted in mid-April, when the average daily air temperature will be 10–12°C so that the plants take root and do not die. In summer, it is planned to monitor the timing and frequency of flowering, the intensity of growth of young shoots, and crown formation.

The results of 35-year research of the introduction of East Asian climbing honeysuckles of the subgenus Chamaecerasus Rehd. in the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine and their role in optimizing the structure of phyto- cenoses of the The National Dendrological Park «Sofiyivka» of the NASU were presented. It was found that the climatic conditions of the introduction area have significant differences between climate indicators (thermal regime indicators and others) with the climatic conditions of natural habitats of climbing honeysuckles species of the subgenus Chamaecerasus, which negatively affect the rhythm of development and flowering and fruiting of introduced plants. It was determinated that the generative period of climbing honeysuckles of the subgenus Chamaecerasus in the arboretum occurs at 4–6 years of age. Most of the introduced honeysuckle was characterized by good (4 points) and satisfactory (3 points) flowering. Representatives of the subsection Breviflorae Rehd. were characterized by long and remontant flowering. It was found that the dynamics of daily fertility of honeysuckles pollen from different areas is closely related to the daily course of flower bloom- ing and daily flight activity of pollinating insects. The duration of the period of fruit formation of introduced honeysuckles depends on the time of the beginning of flowering of species and their geographical origin. Determined amount of positive temperatures above 0 °C required for mass ripening fruit honeysuckles different geographical origin. The plants bear fruit single fruits with empty seeds (ball bearing 1). The collection of climbing honeysuckles of the subgenus Chamaecerasus was created in the National Dendrological Park «Sofiyivka» of the NAS of Ukraine, it has significant scientific and informative value as collector' s stuff is valuable gene pool for further breeding work. The optimal forms of conservation and cultivation of biodiversity of round honeysuckle of the genus Lonicera L. in the one-species gardens and other artificially created phytocenoses have been determined.

Present study was conducted to improve microencapsulation process of Clostridium tyrobutyricum (Ct) by optimizing process parameters to improve its in-vitro characteristics over that of free cells. All process parameters including wall material (w/v concentration: modified starch 3-7%; gelatin 2-6%; maltodextrin 3-7%), sample flow rate (250-450 mLh-1) and inlet air temperature (105-145°C) were analysed through single factor analysis. Response surface design test was used to develop multiple quadratic regression equations to fit the functional relationship between factors and response values and to choose the optimal conditions. The optimal conditions for maximum survival rate (82.030%) of encapsulated Ct were: 4% gelatin, 5% modified starch and 5% maltodextrin concentration with sample flow rate of 350 mLh-1 at inlet air temperature of 105°C. Encapsulation reduced the survival loss of Ct from 1.990 to 1.080 lgCFUg-1 under strong acidic condition (pH1) than free Ct. Survival loss of free Ct was 31.914% more than encapsulated Ct under high temperature treatment (90°C). Similarly, protected Ct showed higher survival rate under simulated gastric condition with long storage life. Encapsulation of Ct through optimized spray drying method efficiently improved its survival rate under strong acidic or high temperature environment with safe transit through gastrointestinal tract and also eradicates the technological limitations which preventing the use of many probiotic strains

The aim of the study was to determine the influence of plant species and year conditions on the biological diversity and number of insects – inhabitants of the crown layer of woody plants of the Rosaceae family in the conditions of the northern forest-steppe of the Ob region. The research was carried out in 2017–2018. During the flowering period of woody entomophilous plants, insects were collected by mowing with an entomological net in the crowns and undercrown space (25 strokes in four repetitions). In the crown of woody introduced plants Pyrus ussuriensis (Ussuri pear), Prunus maackii (Maak plum), Amelanchier alnifolia (alder irga), Spiraea betulifolia (spiraea birch leaf), Physocarpus opulifolius growing on the territory of arboretum of RAS in the northern forest-steppe of the Ob region, a total of 2597 insect specimens from 7 orders and more than 30 families were found. The largest number of insects belonged to the order Diptera (49.4 %). Representatives of the orders Thysanoptera (23.7%) and Hymenoptera (11.4%) made a significant contribution to the formation of the entomofauna. The entomofauna of different species of woody plants from the Rosaceae family differed in the taxonomic groups of insects and their numbers. A high degree of enomofauna similarity (Jaccard coefficient is 0.75) was found between Amelanchier alnifolia and Pyrus ussuriensis with similar flowering periods. A low degree of similarity was found between Amelanchier alnifolia and Spiraea betulifolia (0.32) and between Pyrus ussuriensis and Physocarpus opulifolius (0.33). The species of the plant (38.1 and 26.1%, respectively) had the greatest influence on the biological diversity and the number of entomocomplexes, which indicates the adaptation of insects to a woody plant of the Rosaceae family. The conditions of the year significantly (by 9.8%) influenced the biological diversity of insects during the flowering period.

The paper analyzes the effect of climatic factors on forest succession in the forest-steppe zone of the Republic of Tatarstan. A reliable relationship was revealed between a decrease of the oak forested area and extremely low frosts in 1939–1940, 1941–1942 and 1978–1979, and a decrease in the area of birch after the 2010 drought. Birch and oak are replaced by maple, linden and aspen. Insignificant amount of young trees and the predominance of ripe and overripe plantations of oak and birch will lead to the continuation of forest succession in the forest-steppe zone. Impossibility of reverse succession at this stage by natural rehabilitation is associated with the biological characteristics of these species. Oak and birch forest rehabilitation is only possible with measures to promote natural or artificial regeneration with due regard to the biological characteristics of tree species.

The article presents data obtained from the study of the daily intensity of transpiration during the flowering stage of soybean varieties. According to the data on the diurnal variation of transpiration intensity, this process was accelerated in Vilana and Ustoz MM-60 varieties of soybeans, and a relative decrease in intensity was observed in Baraka and Tomaris man-60 varieties. Different variations in the intensity of transpiration in the cross section of the studied varieties may depend on the biological characteristics of the varieties as well as the air temperature and its relative humidity level.

In the years 2007–2013 we performed phenological observations of common hazel (Corylus avellana L.), blackthorn (Prunus spinosa L.), and hawthorn (Crataegus oxyacantha L.) at two locations of central Slovakia situated at elevations of 300 m and 530 m a.s.l. The phenophase of first leaves of all tree species started in the second half of April on average, and was conditioned by the average daily air temperatures above 0 °C. The earliest onset was observed at both locations in 2007 due to the highest average air temperature during the observed period, which in March reached the value of 6.1 °C. Colouring of leaves started in the second and third decades of September. Both phenophases began earlier at the location situated at the higher elevation due to the effect of aspect, terrain, and soil depth. During the last 7 years, the average length of the growing season of tree species situated at an elevation of 300 m was from 136 to 152 days, in more extreme conditions at an elevation of 530 m the growing season was shorter by 12 days in the case of blackthorn and by 5 days in the case of hawthorn.

Studies were conducted to study the effect of air temperature and the amount of precipitation on the growth and development of spring wheat plants. Analysis and quantitative description of the dependence of the duration of interphase periods was carried out by methods of correlation and regression analysis, changes in the duration of periods by calculating the coefficient of variation. For analysis, we used the results of long-term field observations (2014–2019) over the time of the onset of phenological phases in spring wheat varieties of the mid-ripe group in the Ural steppe, as well as published data of Davlekanovskiy GSU of the Republic of Bashkortostan for 1993–2016. An increase in temperature during all periods of vegetation accelerates the growth and development of plants, an increase in rainfall, on the contrary, slows down these processes. The change in hydrothermal conditions most strongly affects the duration of tillering – heading and heading – waxy ripeness periods. The coefficient of variation of their duration is 26.9 and 28.7, respectively. With an increase in air temperature by 1°C in the range of 11.3 ... 20.50С, the tillering-heading interfacial period decreases by 0.408 days, and the ripening of spring wheat grain (at a temperature of 10.7 ... 24.2°C) is accelerated by 0.424 of the day. An increase in precipitation by 10 mm in the range of 1.0 ... 126.2 mm slows the onset of heading by 0.39 days, waxy ripeness of grain (with a total of 0 ... 131.1 mm) - by 0.40 days. Statistical models of the dependence of the duration of interphase periods of growth and development of spring wheat plants on the amount of precipitation and average daily temperature can be used to predict the calendar dates of the onset of phenological phases and the operational adjustment of technological operations to care for sowing

The agropopulations of Trifolium hybridum L. were studied in the agricultural phytocenoses established on the levelled coal mining spoils in the Kuzbas mining region (West Siberia, Russia). The clover was found to last in such agrophytocenoses for more than 20 years, whereas in agricultural phytocenoses on the zonal soils it lasted usually for 5-8 years. All studied communities were dominated by virginal and young generative plants. The optimal conditions for the clover growth and development in the disturbed areas were observed in the mixed (legumes and grasses) agrophytocenosis on the hydraulic dump. For the first time T. hybridum was found to be a species perspective for restoring vegetation cover in areas disturbed by open coal mining.
