Objective of this study was to determine the effect of prayer on pre-hemodialysis blood pressure of CRF patients in the hemodialysis room of the Jakarta Islamic Hospital. Data collection was done through purposive sampling. This study examined 32 respondents. The results of the study indicated there was a decrease in blood pressure in the intervention and control groups before and after giving prayers on systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The results of the paired t-test before and after being given prayers in the intervention and control groups produced a sig value of <0.05 in systolic and diastolic blood pressure, which means that there were differences before and after giving prayers. The unpaired t-test results in the intervention and control groups of systolic blood pressure produced a sig value> 0.05, which means that there was no difference between the intervention and control group. On the contrary, diastolic blood pressure produced a sig value <0.05, which means that there were differences between the intervention and control group. Finally, it can be concluded that the provision of a prayer intervention in pre-hemodialysis was effectively proven to reduce blood pressure. Keywords : chronic kidney disease, blood pressure, prayer.

The farmers in Indonesia have not maximally taken advantage of the existence of rice husk; therefore the huge number of the husk becomes disturbing waste, which spoils environment. The waste of rice husk is potentially capable of improving the farmers’ economy amidst the people’s lack of knowledge about its potential to commercially produce charcoal briquettes from it, make it a plant growing medium, and change it into manure. This research aims at knowing if the training of recycling waste of rice husk can improve the farmers’ entrepreneurship motivation. The subjects of the research were farmers in groups at Bimomartani village, Ngemplak district, Sleman regency. They were 60 participants divided into experintal and control groups. The planned experiment used untreated control group design with dependent pretest and posttest samples. The paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test were used as the techniques of analysis in this research. The result of t-test on paired sample t-test for the experimental group resulted in the value of t = -6.659 with p = 0.000 (p<0.01), which means there was a significant difference of entrepreneurship motivation before and after the training of recycling rice husk. The analysis for Independent sample t-test resulted in the value of t = 7.411 with p = 0.000 (p<0.01), which means there was a significant difference of entrepreneurship motivation between experimental and control groups. It can be concluded that the training of recycling waste of rice husk was effective in improving the farmers’ entrepreneurship motivation.

The incidence of hypertension in Southeast Sulawesi tends to increase each year. Many people with hypertension are tired of taking blood pressure-lowering drugs because they are addictive and have side effects. The objective of the study was to understand the effect of watermelon juice supplementation to decrease blood pressure on early adult hypertension sufferers in the working area of the Public Health Center of Poasia Kendari city. This study was a true experiment through pretest-posttest with a control group design. The sample size was 30 people who were determined by purposive sampling technique and was allocated by matching within 15 people for both treatment and control groups. The statistical test result showed that there were different blood pressure both systolic and diastolic blood pressures before and after receiving watermelon juice supplementation for 7 days with the dose was twice 350/gr/glass/day on treatment group with significance value ρ = 0,000 (α = 0,05). Meanwhile, for the control group, there was no different blood pressure before and after receiving supplementation with significance value ρ = 1,000 (α = 0,05) for systolic pressure and ρ = 0,499 for diastolic one. There was different blood pressure after receiving watermelon juice supplementation between treatment and control groups with significance value ρ =0,031 (α = 0,05) for systolic pressure and p = 0,012 for diastolic one. Hence, it’s concluded that there was a significant effect of watermelon juice supplementation to decrease the blood pressure on early adult hypertension sufferers.

Background:World Health Organization(WHO) in 2012 showed that 26.4% of people suffer from hypertension. One of the things that affects blood pressure is stress. Blood pressure can be lowered by reducing stress levels. Nonpharmacological efforts to reduce stress are relaxation techniques, including meditation and murotal hearing. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of a combination of meditation and murotal hearing on stress levels and blood pressure of hypertension sufferers. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design in the form of pretest - posttest intervention with control group. A sample of 30 respondents was divided into 15 intervention groups and 15 control groups. The intervention group received meditation and murotal hearing and antihypertensive therapy for 3 consecutive days while the control group only received antihypertensive therapy. The analysis uses paired t-test to determine the effect of the intervention on the intervention group and the independent t-test to see differences between influences between groups. Results: Meditation and murotal hearing significantly reduced stress scores by p=0, also significant in decreasing systolic blood pressure with p=0.008 and not significant in decreasing diastolic blood pressure with p=0.206. In the different test between intervention and control groups showed that a significant difference was found in the reduction in stress levels with a value of p=0.002.Conclusions:The combination of meditation and murotal hearing significantly reduces stress and systolic blood pressure. As for diastolic blood pressure, this combination therapy can decrease but not statistically significant.

Background: Lead is one of the most widely used metals in the industries and is the amplest metal element on the Earth’s crust. This metal disrupts the physiological processes of the body due to its accumulation in various tissues. The present study aimed to determining the association of lead exposure with blood pressure and blood components of the lead mine employees in Isfahan City, Iran. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 187 workers were investigated; they worked in the lead mines of Isfahan from January to April 2016. The staff was divided into two groups: one was exposed to lead and the other was the control group. The participants' general information was collected in worksheets, including age, work experience, work shift, body mass index, blood pressure, and smoking status. Sampling was carried out by active sampling using the NIOSH 7300 method. Blood samples were taken from all participants and their hematological parameters were evaluated, including red blood cell, platelet count, percent of lymphocytes, and volume of red blood cells. Results: The participants' age means were 34.06 (8.8) and 37.04 (11.48) years in the case and control groups, respectively. The time-weighted average concentration of lead in the breathing zone air of workers was 0.0533 mg/m3. The average systolic blood pressure was 12.01 (1.3) mmHg in exposed workers, while it was 11.78 (1.1) mmHg in the control group. The average diastolic blood pressure was 7.84 (0.71) mmHg in exposed workers and 7.73 (0.54) mmHg in control group. Statistical test results showed a significant difference between the case and control groups with regard to their systolic and diastolic blood pressure (P<0.05). Furthermore, no significant difference was observed between the lead-exposed and non-exposed groups with regard to the hematocrit and hemoglobin levels. Conclusion: According to the results, lead exposure can cause metabolic changes in blood pressure and some of its features. Considering the importance of this issue, some preventive measures should be taken to maintain and improve the worker's health and well-being, such as increasing the workers' rest time, performing periodic examinations for them, as well as conducting safety workshops and training sessions.
