This article discusses the approach to the management of change taken by a Danish university when introducing a university-wide market for education and it explores the different positions taken by some of the central stakeholders in one of the faculties involved. I argue that neither the inadequacies of a popular management model nor insufficient communication fully explain the problems with the change project. Based on strategy papers, memorandums and detailed observations of meetings, I discuss the introduction of the education market and analyse the reception given by directors of studies to a specific social technology, a common year and timetable structure. I offer an explanation of their reactions that draws on an anthropological approach to organisations. I call for university leaders to take what I call an 'improvisational' approach to leadership, which takes account of local ways of interpreting the meaning and significance of large-scale changes and works through professional motivation.

Research universities worldwide have been taking reform actions to enhance their competitiveness in the global higher education market; however, the implementation of new initiatives may lead to challenges for university leadership. Faculty resistance is regarded as one of the most common obstacles faced by university leaders. Taking a qualitative approach based on Kotter’s leading change model, this study adopts École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne as a case study to explore change management strategies adopted by university leadership in an attempt to ensure a planned transformational change. By analysing 22 interviews with university administrators and faculty members, this study reveals that the president of École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne managed changes through approaches that included vision creation, coalition formation, communication, faculty empowerment and culture consolidation. Additionally, the study shows that Kotter’s change model, which was designed for business organizations, could not be applied to the analysis of the change management process in the context of higher education without modifications due to institutional and cultural differences.

Retaining rainfall where it lands is a fundamental benefit of Low Impact Development (LID). The Delaware Urban Runoff Management Model (DURMM) was developed to address the benefits of LID design. DURMM explicitly addresses the benefits of impervious area disconnection as well as swale flow routing that responds to flow retardance changes. Biofiltration swales are an effective LID BMP for treating urban runoff. By adding check dams, the detention storage provided can also reduce peak rates. This presentation explores how the DURMM runoff reduction approach can be integrated with detention routing procedures to project runoff volume and peak flow reductions provided by BMP facilities. This approach has been applied to a 1,200 unit project on 360 hectares located in Delaware, USA. Over 5 km of biofiltration swales have been designed, many of which have stone check dams placed every 30 to 35 meters to provide detention storage. The engineering involved in the design of such facilities uses hydrologic modeling based upon TR-20 routines, as adapted by the DURMM model. The hydraulic approach includes routing of flows through the check dams. This presentation summarizes the hydrological network, presents the hydrologic responses, along with selected hydrographs to demonstrate the potential of design approach.

This article describes the development and implementation of a comprehensive Program Evaluation Strategy by the Queensland Department of Education, Training and the Arts (DETA). It discusses the key stages adopted in this change management strategy by drawing upon characterisations of effective innovations. The Program Evaluation Strategy adopted by DETA was based on a change management model rather than a compliance approach. The evaluation strategy incorporated a number of elements: the overall strategy, an evaluation manual providing supporting materials and templates, evaluation training for staff, and specific provision of advice and assistance in evaluation. The article argues that this multifaceted approach has fostered an evaluative culture within the agency and been critical in supporting the influence and use of evaluation.

The study aimed at revealing the degree of awareness of the principals of the governmental secondary schools in Irbid Governorate for the management of change and their relation to the effectiveness of these schools. The researcher used the descriptive approach. In order to achieve the objective of the study, the researcher constructed a questionnaire, , And the results showed that the degree of awareness of high school principals in the governorate of Irbid for change management is high and with a mean (4.01). The order of the fields ranked in descending order according to the level of fields: the field of school administration, reached (4.15) Teaching, Reached (3.96), the regulatory climate field, and was (3.92).obaha grade (high), also showed a strong correlation by (0.86), the degree of awareness of public secondary school principals in the governorate of Irbid to manage change effectively and their relationship to those schools. In the light of the results, a number of recommendations and proposals were presented to raise the level of awareness of change management among high school principals.

There is nothing in this world that do not change unless the change itself. Almost every aspect of the world, particularly the world of IT, can changed. In project management software, for instance, people have to work on software that frequently subject to change. That is why the greatest challenge faced by the company within today's competitive world is how to deal with those changes. In relation with the previous explanation, the objective of this research is to standardize project management in software development by using change management. Objective will finally help project developer to ensure that the management of project has a need of standardization that essential for reflecting the current business needs. To achieve the objectives, this research will also attempt to show why does the standardization using the change management is essential task, which is almost inevitable. This research directed for discussing about the management of change as a common way to reduce risks, costs and maximizing the benefit from major changes in business and information technology. The result showed that the project can determined as success because it delivered on time, on budged and have a standardized quality.
