In today vibrant business environment, retaining a talented employee is a big challenge faced by organizations. We explore certain factors that might support organizations to retain their best employees. In the current research, we empirically examine the direct and indirect relationship of mentoring and strategic leadership to stay of Gen Y workers in the pharma industry in Pakistan. Affective commitment and Perceived organizational support were used as possible mediators. Through a cross-sectional research design, using the survey method, we received 248 responses from employees working in the pharma industry. Results revealed that both mentoring and strategic leadership have significant influence over Gen Y employees retention. Based on our study results, we suggested that managers should practice mentoring program in their talent management strategy and that managers practice a role of strategic leaders and implement a policy that retains the existing employees and attracts the best talent. Managerial implications and theoretical contributions are also discussed.

A strong internal marketing strategy can be critical to achieving and sustaining a competitive advantage as well as driving organisational change and enhanced organisational performance. This study sought to determine the influence of internal marketing mix elements on the satisfaction levels of recently employed graduates (GradDPs) within the retail banking industry in South Africa. The study also identified links between the satisfaction of GradDPs and their affective commitment in this context. A census approach to generating data was applied in the study by using a person-administered and an electronic survey method. Regression analysis was used to test the relationships proposed in the study. The results indicated that internal marketing significantly influences GradDP employee satisfaction within retail banks in South Africa and that a positive relationship exists between GradDP employee satisfaction and their affective commitment. The study results allowed for recommendations that retail banks provide training and support programmes to assist managers in developing a more participative style of leading. Such programmes would assist leaders in consulting employees more often and ensuring that they have sufficient autonomy when executing their work. It would also help leaders to create a safer GradDP employee environment that fosters openness, risk-taking and idea generation.

Purpose This study aims to examine the entrepreneurial intentions of university students at the International University of Sarajevo. For this purpose, the entrepreneurial desires and entrepreneurial orientations of the students across several demographic variables were measured. These variables included prior entrepreneurial experience, student’s gender, faculty, year of study and attitude towards more courses on entrepreneurship. Nevertheless, the research also examined how business environment influences the entrepreneurial intentions of students by considering the same set of variables. Design/methodology/approach The objectives of this paper have been achieved by using a quantitative research instrument, where the cross-sectional survey method for collecting primary data is used. In total, 173 usable responses have been collected from the beginning of April to the end of May in the academic year 2015/2016. Findings The results indicate that the greater the demotivation with the current business surrounding, the smaller the entrepreneurial intentions of the students are when the prior entrepreneurial experience, gender, year of study and attitude towards more courses on entrepreneurship are considered. The study suggests that improving the overall business surrounding and entrepreneurial education might increase the entrepreneurial intentions of the students. Originality/value This is the first paper that treats entrepreneurial intentions of University students in Bosnia and Herzegovina.


It is anticipated that over the next 10 years, the banking sector would require a workforce of about 200,000. Gen Y employees makes up about 40% of the current workforce in Malaysia. This number is expected to increase to 75% within a relatively short span of time. The present study examined the influence of emotional needs of Gen Y employees towards intention to stay and the mediating role of perceived organizational support. This was a quantitative research that used a survey method. Data was collected from a sample of 470 Gen Y employees in the banking sector in Malaysia. The findings revealed that emotional needs had a significant impact on intention to stay. Perceived organizational support was found to mediate the relationship between the two. The findings have significantly contributed to the advancement of knowledge in the emotional needs and intention to stay of Gen Y employees in the banking sector. The significant and positive impact of emotional needs and perceived organizational support suggests the importance of these factors in retention of Gen Y employees. The paper's primary contribution is that it provides an understanding that emotional needs and the mediating role of perceived organizational support have an impact on improving the intention to stay of Gen Y employees in the banking sector in Malaysia. From the practical implications perspective, organizations need to implement policies and procedures to help lessen employees quitting intentions. The results of this study suggest that organizations can implement policies covering the employee emotional needs and employees’ perception that their work and contributions are valued. With current trends of globalizations and diversity, the finding of this study can be beneficial to improve retention of Gen Y employees in other countries

ABSTRACTObjectives: to describe, in the perception of nurses, the impact of a Nutritional Support training on the job and Identify the correlations between support organizational support to the transfer and characteristics of customers with the impact of training in the work of nurses. Method: it’s a nature quantitative research, a cross-sectional, correlacional and descriptive study. The data was collected by means a questionnaire asked to 114 nursing professionals. The data was stored and analyzed using the program Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, being carried out analyses descriptive and relevant to study. Results: more than 50% of trainees agreed have a positive impact of training support nutrition at work. The impact of training in nutritional therapy of nursing was significantly correlated with the support organizational (r=0,64, p=0,00). Conclusion: the higher the support of the Organization to training, the higher the positive impact on the work of trainees. Conclusão: conclui-se que, quanto maior o Suporte de Transferência e o Suporte Organizacional maior foi o Impacto do treinamento no trabalho. Los datos fueron almacenados y analizados utilizando el programa Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, y se lleva a cabo el análisis descriptivo e inferencial de interés para el estudio. Resultados: más del 50% de los alunos de acuerdo a tener un impacto positivo de apoyo nutricional de formación en el trabajo. El impacto de la formación en la terapia nutricional en el trabajo del personal de enfermería fue significativamente correlacionado con el apoyo organizativo (r=0,64, p=0,00). Conclusión: en conclusión, cuanto mayor sea el apoyo a la transferencia y el apoyo organizativo fue el mayor impacto de la formación en el trabajo. Orientation: In a competitive retail business environment, the essence of service quality is invariably amplified. Within a university context, the same applies, given that the student population of customers is relatively finite and yet there are a variety of food outlets on campuses.Research purpose: This study aims to investigate the existence (or lack of it) of a relationship between gender, race and price and the dependent variable of students’ service quality perception of campus-based food outlets. Although gender and race are the most obvious defining demographic features of a student population, the variable of price is usually a major consideration for student purchases.Motivation for the study: The study is an applied research as it is focused on addressing an issue with real-life business implications.Research design, approach and method: It employs the use of data collected in a cross-sectional manner from 200 respondents selected through non-probability sampling.Main findings: The findings of the study indicate that no significant differences exist in service quality perception when gender is considered. Conversely, results show that the service quality perceptions of racial groups differ. The study also finds that a weak but positive correlation exists between price and service quality perceptions.Practical/managerial implications: These results indicate practical implications as they can become useful condiments for refining the offerings and services of the studied campus-based food outlets in the quest to meet or exceed customer expectations.Contribution/value-add: From an academic perspective, the study builds on existing knowledge by exposing the association that the independent variables of gender, race and price have with students’ service quality perception in the specific context of campus-based food outlets in Gauteng, South Africa.

Purpose This study aims to examine the effect of job stress on perceived organizational support (POS) and organizational commitment in hospitals in Amman, Jordan. It also investigated the mediating role of POS on the relationship between job stress and organizational commitment. Design/methodology/approach The study used a cross-sectional, quantitative survey design to collect data from 500 employees in six hospitals in Amman, Jordan. An Arabic version of a reliable and valid measurement instrument was used. A convenience sample was selected from employees in the targeted hospitals. Mediating effect was tested using the approach proposed by Baron and Kenny (1986). Validity and reliability tests were applied, and regression analyses were used to test the study hypotheses. Findings The results revealed a significant negative effect of job stress on POS and organizational commitment. The results also indicated full negative mediating effect of POS on the relationship between job stress and organizational commitment. Practical implications This research promotes hospitals to implement strategies that reduce employees’ job stress, increase levels of POS among employees working at hospitals, which, in turn, will enhance employees’ commitment to their hospitals. Originality/value This study is one of the first to investigate the proposed effects in Jordan in particular, and the Middle East in general. In addition, it contributes to the literature by examining the mediating effect of POS on the relationship between job stress and organizational commitment. Recommendations are provided to practitioners in hospitals based on the study results.

Due to globalization and uncertainty in business environment, organizations need to adapt and update their knowledge to remain competitive and innovative and to enhance their productive level. Moreover, Emotional intelligence is vital and accountable factor that determine the victory in life. Such factor plays a significant part in workplace by influencing the collaboration between managers and employees. However, present study is undertaken to scrutinize the influence emotional intelligence, knowledge management on the performance level of organization with mediating role of organizational learning. Current study is descriptive and cross-sectional. Sample size is 150 and simple random sampling method is used. Questionnaire survey method has used. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) used to support and prove the hypothesis statistically. Results of study enlightened that there is significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence, and organizational performance. Moreover, knowledge management also significantly associated with organizational performance. Furthermore, findings revealed that organizational learning significantly and partially mediates the relationship between emotional intelligence and performance as well as knowledge management and organizational performance. Therefore, Emotional Intelligence and Knowledge are important inputs and organizational learning is the key practice, which enhances the performance and output of any organization.


The chemical industries in Malaysia is one of the biggest industry and being one of the sources of income for Malaysians contributing to the nations’ wealth for continuous development. To work in such industries requires high self-efficacy and an endless commitment by employees as chemical industries always deal with highly risk and hazardous substances. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of self-efficacy on employees affective, continuance and normative commitment at a private chemical industry in Malaysia. This research employ survey method and a cross-sectional research design. A total of 80 respondents were recruited using simple random sampling method from a private chemical company in Johor. The data was collected using the general Self-efficacy Questionnaire and Organizational Commitment Questionnaire. The results shows that self-efficacy is at the high level while moderate level was recorded for all three affective, continuance and normative commitments among employees in the chemical company. Data analysis using simple linear regressions showed that self-efficacy predicted affective commitment, while self-efficacy did not significantly predicted continuance and normative commitments.

This study aims to investigate the influence of spiritual leadership and perceived organizational support on affective commitment. In addition, the moderating role of perceived organizational support in the relationship of spiritual leadership and affective commitment will be tested. This research was conducted with survey research design, and the type of data was cross-sectional. Surveys conducted based on web based surveys. Research focuses on organizational members or employees in the Bandar Lampung region. Data is collected by self-administered survey with sampling in the form of non-probability sampling, namely by purposive sampling. Processing data and testing hypotheses is done using moderated regression analysis. The number of respondents in this study amounted to 130 respondents. Spiritual leadership is measured by SLT survey questions developed by Fry et al (2005), with 17 items of questions. Affective commitment was measured by 6 items of measurement scale developed by Meyer, Allen and Smith (1993). Whereas, perceived organizational support was measured by the short version of (Eisenberger et al., 1986), consisting of 8 statements.The results of the investigation show that spiritual leadership and perceived organizational support influence affective commitment. In particular, the moderating effect of perceived organizational support can strengthen the relationship of spiritual leadership and affective commitment.

The aim of the study is to examine the interrelationship among the variables such as cultural ethos, structural organicity, perceived organizational support, affective commitment, and their influence on turnover intention. We conducted the study on 509 medical representatives (MRs) of the pharmaceutical industry with survey method using well-established instruments. We checked the data for reliability, univariate, and multivariate normality assumptions. We tested the hypotheses with path analysis. Results depict significant relationships between cultural ethos and other organizational variables under the study, whereas insignificant relationship between structural organicity and perceived organizational support among MRs of the pharmaceutical industry. A study applied the structural equation modelling (SEM) analysis to develop the final research model with the acceptable model fit after the removal of the structural organicity and one cultural ethos, namely autonomy. The model might be useful to pharmaceutical companies, where high attrition persists among sales people. Moreover, the study will give premise on how organizational culture and commitment can influence employees’ perception towards the support system of an organization. The results of the study will be useful to HR managers in order to improve particular ethos to reduce the turnover intention and to increase employees’ commitment towards the organization.
