The paper presented summarizes the results on the parameters of free radical lipid oxidation and antioxidant protection factors in 24 children aged from 3 to 15 years with acute odontogenic mandible osteomyelitis. In addition to standard clinical examination, peripheral blood and unstimulated oral fluid fractions were collected from all patients for 10 min at hospital admission and discharge. The samples were used to determine the components of lipid peroxidation: diene conjugates; malondialdehyde, its initial level, in 1.5 hours of incubation and its growth; antioxidant protection factors as superoxide dismutase, and catalase. It has been found out at the time of hospitalization, clinical examination showed a significant deterioration of the general condition, which was accompanied by widespread infiltrative changes and collateral oedema in the projection of the involved region of the mandible. In 12 people (50%) osteomyelitis spread from temporary molars. In other cases, permanent first and second molars were regarded as the causes. The patients demonstrated the activation of lipid peroxidation processes and reduction of antioxidant protection factors found out in peripheral blood and unstimulated oral fluid fraction. Repeated studies over the clinical recovery following the treatment conducted in accordance with the protocol of medical care enables to estimate the absence of infiltrative changes, but despite the elimination of acute inflammation, not all the studied parameters reached the level of control values. This makes it necessary to address the issue on making corrections towards the complex of therapeutic measures by including antioxidants that seems to be quiet promising and requires further in-depth investigation.

This paper presents the comparative generalization of the results obtained by studying the activation of the processes of lipid peroxidation and the state of antioxidant protection factors in the peripheral blood and unstimulated oral fluid fraction in patients having a complicated course of odontogenic mandibular osteomyelitis. To determine the effectiveness of natural antioxidants, which were additionally included in the therapy protocol for patients with this the disease, we created two similar groups of participants (22 and 23 people in each) aged 7 to 15 years. Based on our previous reports, on admission to the hospital, these patients demonstrated the activation of the lipid peroxidation processes and the reduction of antioxidant protection factors in biological substrates. The scope of the treatment measures described in the protocol did not allow us to normalize their components for the time of clinical recovery. This prompted us to prescribe tocopherol acetate and ascorbic acid as components of the integrated complex therapeutic measures. This helped to stabilize the levels of all indicators up to the time of clinical recovery in this group of patients and supported the feasibility of these pharmaceuticals as important components in the therapy of odontogenic inflammatory diseases.

The aim of the study was to determine the level of diene conjugates in the oral fluid during tetramethylthiuram disulfide intoxication. As a result, it was found that on day 28, the greatest toxic effect of TMDT was detected, which exceeded the control values by 4 times (400%).. The concentration of DC on days 7, 14, and 21 increased by 158.3%, 225.0%, and 258.3%, respectively. The results obtained indicate the accumulation of lipid peroxidation products of diene conjugates with an increase in the duration of pesticide intoxication.

Background.Today infertile marriage is not only a serious medical, but also a socio-demographic and economic problem. Male factor contributes averagely to half of the cases of the disease in couples. Such factors as high levels of reactive oxygen species and oxidative stress have been reported to compromise the process of spermatogenesis and sperm function in men. Oxidative stress is a significant risk factor for male infertility. A pro-oxidant testicular environment may alter the expression profile of functional sperm proteins and result in poor sperm quality.Aims.To study the characteristics of the intensity of the processes of lipoperoxidation and antioxidant status in the ejaculate of men with different variants of spermograms.Materials and methods. We examined 69 men with primary infertility and 155 fertile men. The content of lipid peroxidation components and antioxidant protection was determined by spectrophotometric method.Results.The results of the study in men with infertility and asthenozoospermia showed decreased total antioxidant activity of sperm by 50 % and α-tocopherol by 52 %, and in men with infertility and oligozoospermia, decreased total antioxidant activity of sperm by 47 % and α-tocopherol by 41 %.Conclusions.The analysis indicates a change in the parameters of the system of lipid peroxidation – antioxidant defense system and confirms the development of oxidative stress in them. Depending on the pathological state of the ejaculate in men of reproductive age, lipid peroxidation processes have their own characteristics. In men with oligozoospermia, peroxidation processes occur more intensively. Activation of lipid peroxidation – antioxidant defense system processes can be both a consequence and a cause of various metabolic changes in the human body.

Various pathologies, in particular hypertension, accompany violation of the processes of free radical oxidation. The state of the system lipid peroxidation – antioxidant protection can be assessed only by a complex of biochemical methods. The chemiluminescent method is used to obtain a faster result. The method has a number of advantages: measurement of chemiluminescence parameters is carried out in natural conditions and does not require sample preparation, is highly selective, it can be used to identify the presence of free radical pathology, analysis of the intensity of lipid peroxidation processes, the effectiveness of treatment with antioxidant medicament. The aim of the research was to study the lipid peroxidation under hypertension and stress by chemiluminescence. The experiment was conducted on male rats of the ISIAH line. The experiment consisted of 2 stages: stage of alarm and stage of chronic stress. We found that, depending on the type of stress, the state of the system lipid peroxidation-antioxidant protection differed. The role of stress in violation of the processes of lipoperoxidation in hypertension was established. The efficacy of the chemiluminescence method as an alternative to a complex of biochemical methods is shown. Express assessment of pro- and antioxidant status is possible for patients with hypertension.

The prevalence of somatic pathology in children increases significantly with each passing year, which is associated with socio-economic, environmental conditions, the complex interaction of exogenous and endogenous factors. This problem may be related to micronutrient imbalances, among which iodine deficiency and sideropenia are quite common. Objective. The aim of the study is to learn the peculiarities of peroxidation of proteins and lipids, the system of antioxidant defence of oral fluid in conditions of preclinical iodine and iron deficiency. Materials and Methods. The study included 115 children aged 6-18 years. The level of peroxidation of proteins was characterized by the content of oxidative modification of protein products (aldehyde derivatives of the main nature) in the oral fluid. Peroxidation of lipids of oral fluid was assessed by the accumulation of diene conjugates (DCs) of polyunsaturated fatty acids and products responding to thiobarbituric acid (TBA-RP). Results. It has been determined that in case of iodine and iron deficiencies, their combination causes significant activation of protein and lipid peroxidation processes in the oral fluid of children, accompanied by an imbalance of the prooxidant-antioxidant system of the oral cavity. Conclusion. Such changes can be predictors of the development of dental pathology

At the present stage, odontogenic osteomyelitis is one of the common purulent-inflammatory pathologies of the maxillofacial region. There is a tendency to change the nature of the clinical course of the disease: there is a predominance of a sluggish process with a tendency to chronicity and the development of complications. An unexpressed picture of the diagnosis of acute odontogenic osteomyelitis is difficult, which explains the delay in seeking help. The aim of the study was to determine and compare indicators of lipid peroxidation, antioxidant defense and phagocytic activity of neutrophils in patients with acute odontogenic osteomyelitis who received standard and combination treatment with Melaxen. The study was conducted on 30 patients with an established diagnosis of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery of the Republican Clinical Hospital in Vladikavkaz. The indicators of lipid peroxidation, antioxidant protection, and phagocytic activity of neutrophils in patients with acute odontogenic osteomyelitis who received standard treatment and combined with the use of the drug “Melaxen” were evaluated. It was found that the disease can cause an increase in the concentration of malondialdehyde and hydroperoxides and a decrease in catalase activity. Under the influence of pathology, the absorption and digestion functions of neutrophils are inhibited. The efficacy of the use of the drug "Melaxen" in the treatment of acute odontogenic osteomyelitis due to its ability to suppress lipid peroxidation processes, restore antioxidant defense and phagocytic activity of neutrophils has been proven. the inclusion of Melaxen in the standard treatment regimen allows for faster reduction of oxidative stress and restoration of antioxidant protection, and also helps to normalize the phagocytic activity of neutrophils in a shorter time.

Background: Information about involvement of general nonspecific reactions, in particular lipid peroxidation processes, in the progression of varicose veins of the pelvic (VVP) in women is still too scarce. Aims: To study the intensity of processes of lipid peroxidation and the activity of components of the antioxidant system in women with primary varicose veins of the pelvic at different stages of the disease. Materials and methods: 167 women of reproductive age were examined ― 137 with VVP and 30 made up a control group. All patients with VVP were divided into 3 groups depending on stages of the disease. Spectrophotometric and fluorometric methods of investigation were used. The study was conducted during 2012−2017. Results: It was revealed that the level of primary products of lipid peroxidation, diene conjugates, increased statistically significantly according to the stage of the disease by 1.25 times (in the 1st stage), 1.51 times (in the II stage) and 1.59 times (in the III stage) values. Changes in the content of final TBA-active products showed similar changes-an increase in the mean values for all stages of the disease relative to control (in 1.24, 1.17, and 1.77 times, respectively). Activity of glutathione peroxidase increased in stage 2 of VVP (1.19 times), with the maximum increase in stage III (1.42 times); activity of glutathione-S-transferase increased 1.18 times in the II stage of the disease. The concentration of GSH in the clinical groups was characterized by lower values with respect to the control (by 1.22 times in the 1st stage, in 1.64 times in the II stage), with the maximum decrease of this parameter in the III stage of VVP (3.67 times). The level of catalase activity increased in the I stage of VVP ― by 1.18 times and decreased in the III stage ― by 1.14 times with respect to the control. The activity of SOD showed similar changes with catalase ― in the form of increased activity at the 1st stage (1.35 times higher) and decreased values for II (1.35 times lower) and III (1.65 times lower) for the stages of VVP to the values of control. Conclusions: At progression of primary VVP in women (from the initial stage to the 3rd stage of the disease), there is an increase in imbalance in the lipid peroxidation − antioxidant defense system. Moreover, if the compensatory increase in activity of antioxidant enzymes is registered at stage 1 of the disease, then the most of the antioxidant defense factors decreases as relative to control values, and the initial stages of the disease.

Among the most common pathologies of parasitic etiology in ruminants, trematode diseases, namely fasciolosis, occupy a prominent place in terms of the degree of damage and economic damage caused. Activation of lipid peroxidation processes plays a significant role in the mechanisms of the development of fasciolosis in animals. The research aimed to investigate the level of lipid peroxidation products in cows' blood in experimental fasciolosis. For the test, 12 cows of 4–5 years of age, black-spotted breed, were selected, from which 2 groups were formed, six animals in each. Animals in the control group were clinically healthy. Animals of the experimental group were experimentally infected with adolescents. During the research, the rules of compulsory experiments were followed – selecting and keeping analog animals in groups. The cows' diet was balanced in terms of nutrients and minerals. Based on the studies, it was found that after the experimental infestation of cows of the experimental group with the causative agent of fasciolosis, an increase in the level of diene conjugates of their blood on the 15th day of the experiment by 30.3 %, and on the 25th day – by 50.4 % relative to the control group. There was also an increased level of lipid hydroperoxides in their blood, where, respectively, on the 10th and 15th day of the experiment, this figure increased by 18.3 and 32.9 % compared with the control group. On the 25th day of the experiment, the level of lipid hydroperoxides in the blood of cows of the experimental group was the highest. Compared with the control group, it increased by 46.6%, respectively. In the study of the final products of lipid peroxidation, it was found that on the 10th day of the test, the level of TBA-active products in infected cows of the experimental group increased by 9.5 %. On the 15th and 20th days of the experiment, the level of end products of LPO in the experimental group's blood of animals was higher by 20.3 and 26.0 % relative to the control group. The increase in TBA-active products' level reflects the activation of peroxide processes in animals with experimental fasciolosis. Therefore, in the clinical manifestation of fasciolosis, parasites secrete metabolic products that promote the formation of free radicals, which in turn enhance the initiation of lipid peroxidation processes.
