Research subject. Fifth-generation telecommunication networks are currently the determining direction of telecommunications development as a whole. At the same time, the complexity of the processes of functioning of fifth-generation telecommunication networks increases by an order of magnitude compared to existing networks. All this requires the use of new technologies, including artificial intelligence, to ensure the stable functioning of telecommunication networks. Method. System analysis. Core results. The scientific tasks for the fifth generation communication networks, in which the use of artificial intelligence seems appropriate, including machine and deep learning, are identified. Practical significance. The results of the work can be useful in the education process in the field of networks and telecommunication systems, as well as for setting new scientific tasks for PhD students.

Authentication is a suitable form of restricting the network from different types of attacks, especially in case of fifth-generation telecommunication networks, especially in healthcare applications. The handover and authentication mechanism are one such type that enables mitigation of attacks in health-related services. In this paper, we model an evolutionary model that uses a fuzzy evolutionary model in maintaining the handover and key management to improve the performance of authentication in nanocore technology-based 5G networks. The model is designed in such a way that it minimizes the delays and complexity while authenticating the networks in 5G networks. The attacks are mitigated using an evolutionary model when it is trained with the relevant attack datasets, and the model is validated to mitigate the attacks. The simulation is conducted to test the efficacy of the model, and the results of simulation show that the proposed method is effective in improving the handling and authentication and mitigation against various types of attacks in mobile health applications.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the capabilities of telecommunication networks with ultralow latency to reduce the digital divide between the regions of the Russian Federation. The main result of the article is to establish the relationship between the gross regional product and the share of people employed in the field of informatization and communications in the total number of people employed in all industries. The results of the article can be used by interested ministries and departments in the implementation of the digital economy program, scientific and design organizations in the planning and design of communication networks, as well as by universities in the educational process.

The development of innovations changes the usual living environment of people, affects their standard of living and lifestyle. The purpose of the article is to identify the main factors that determine the attitude of the Russians to innovations and contribute to their spread in everyday life. Findings based on the data of sample surveys, in particular the Comprehensive survey of living conditions of the population (2016), sample Federal statistical observation on the use of information technologies and information and telecommunication networks by the population (2018), and the materials of the Russian Longitudinal Monitoring Survey (RLMS) and the authors’ research conducted in 2017 in Moscow and the Moscow region. The authors used a set of methods for statistical data analysis. The application of the classification tree method revealed the main factors that influence the use of innovative technologies in everyday practice. Factor analysis was used to determine the specifics of Internet use by the Russians. The two-step cluster analysis procedure allowed to form two typology groups (clusters) of respondents depending on their use of such innovative practice as distance financial services. A positive attitude to innovation and information and communication technologies is determined by the experience of using modern technologies in the educational process, the age and interest (readiness) of respondents to use innovations and digital technologies in everyday life. The attitude to innovation is largely determined by the psychological characteristics of the respondent, their willingness to accept innovations. Although innovative practices such as tablet use and distance financial services are widely distributed, their prevalence is determined by similar factors. At the macro level, the parameters of the image and quality of life in various types of settlements, and the involvement in modern technologies in the workplace have an impact. The social and professional status of the person plays a more crucial role than the type of economic activity.

The United Nation has adopted the Sustainable Development Goals and goal No. 4 ‘Quality Education’ is one of them. Information and communication technology transforms education at different levels. For the successful collection, system analysis and processing of large amounts of heterogeneous data, special tools were developed (including specialized indicators), algorithms (including the processing of statistical information in fields of nonparametric information to detect the presence of correlations between various factors) and databases. An example of the use of such indicators is a system for testing the effectiveness of a student’s work in the laboratory. The initial assessment of the state of the laboratory was carried out using a sociological survey of persons associated with the organization of the educational process in the laboratory and subsequent data visualization. Which allowed us to determine that students and management perceive the state of the laboratory differently.

Fifth generation (5G) cellular networks will be the key element of a society that is becoming increasingly interconnected and digitalized. Applications adopted in many social and industrial sectors will require from 5G networks higher standards of availability and reliability. These requirements are leading operators to plan the deployment of protection schemes in the backhaul layer. In this context, our aim is to employ simulation to assess in a technical and economic way different backhaul protection schemes based on passive optical network (PON). The results indicate that the use of protection can increase the viability of 5G networks based on a PON backhaul supporting a hybrid fronthaul with fiber and copper.
