The sorption-desorption balance of barium at the interaction of muddy-sandy terrigenous material with seawater was experimentally determined. The average value of barium desorption in the mixing zone of river and sea waters is 13 μg/g, which leads to additional input of 80 thousand t/year of barium into the ocean, or 8,6% of its entry into the ocean without taking into account the transformation of runoff at the river-sea geochemical barrier. The assessment of the role of desorption processes in the transformation of dissolved barium runoff is in order of magnitude consistent with the data of field observations for most of the mouth areas of the world’s rivers.

The background for the present knowledge about hydraulic conductivity of clayey till in Denmark is summarized. The data show a difference of 1-2 orders of magnitude in the vertical hydraulic conductivity between values from laboratory measurements and field measurements. This difference is discussed and based on new data, field observations and comparison with North American studies, it is concluded to be primarily due to fractures in the till.

AbstractSurface meltwater reaching the base of the Greenland Ice Sheet transits through drainage networks, modulating the flow of the ice sheet. Dye and gas-tracing studies conducted in the western margin sector of the ice sheet have directly observed drainage efficiency to evolve seasonally along the drainage pathway. However, the local evolution of drainage systems further inland, where ice thicknesses exceed 1000 m, remains largely unknown. Here, we infer drainage system transmissivity based on surface uplift relaxation following rapid lake drainage events. Combining field observations of five lake drainage events with a mathematical model and laboratory experiments, we show that the surface uplift decreases exponentially with time, as the water in the blister formed beneath the drained lake permeates through the subglacial drainage system. This deflation obeys a universal relaxation law with a timescale that reveals hydraulic transmissivity and indicates a two-order-of-magnitude increase in subglacial transmissivity (from 0.8 ± 0.3 $${\rm{m}}{{\rm{m}}}^{3}$$ m m 3 to 215 ± 90.2 $${\rm{m}}{{\rm{m}}}^{3}$$ m m 3 ) as the melt season progresses, suggesting significant changes in basal hydrology beneath the lakes driven by seasonal meltwater input.

Abstract The seismic wave energy is evaluated for 35 large earthquakes by inverting far-field long-period P waves into the multiple-shock sequence. The results show that the seismic wave energy thus obtained is systematically less than that inferred from the Gutenberg-Richter's formula with the seismic magnitude. The difference amounts to one order of magnitude. The results also show that the energy-moment ratio is well confined to a narrow range: 10−6 < ES/Mo < 10−5 with the average of ∼5 × 10−6. This average value is exactly one order of magnitude as small as the energy-moment ratio inferred from the Gutenberg-Richter's formula using the moment magnitude. Comparing the energy-moment ratio with Δσo/2μ, where Δσo and μ are the stress drop and the rigidity, we obtain an empirical relation: ES/Mo ∼ 0.1 × Δσ0/2μ. Such a relation can be interpreted in terms of a subsonic rupture where the energy loss due to cohesion is not negligible to the seismic wave energy.

Mass bleaching of soft coral, Sarcophyton spp. in Thailand and the role of temperature and salinity stress. – ICES Journal of Marine Science, 66: 1515–1519. From June to October 2006 and 2007, mass bleaching of the soft coral, Sarcophyton spp., occurred for the first time in the upper Gulf of Thailand. Approximately 90% of the populations experienced extensive bleaching, and almost 95% of colonies were affected. Field observations also revealed that fragmentation of Sarcophyton spp. set in 1 month after the onset of bleaching. Some colonies started to recover to some extent by the end of July, with 95% of the population of Sarcophyton spp. recovering by October. Both acute and chronic trials were conducted to determine whether temperature and/or salinity triggered bleaching. In the acute tests, Sarcophyton spp. at 40°C and salinity 20 psu were completely bleached, and death occurred after 57 and 204 h, respectively. However, the colonies at 40 psu could survive through the experimental trial. In the chronic tests, Sarcophyton spp. died when exposed to 34°C, whereas complete bleaching and mortality of Sarcophyton spp. occurred at salinities of 10 and 49 psu. We conclude that elevated temperatures had a greater effect on the bleaching of Sarcophyton spp. than did salinity.

<p><em>This study aims to determine the strengthening of environmental care attitude to support the adiwiyata program of students of class XI IPS Sintang District 02 High School. This type of research is survey research which is included in the quantitative category. Therefore, this study uses a sample of one population and uses a questionnaire as an instrument of data collection. The subjects of this study were students of class XI IPS in State High School 02 Sintang Regency, amounting to 30 people. Analyzing data is based on the calculation of the percentage of results of filling out questionnaires by respondents. The results obtained are as follows: 1) the role of students in strengthening environmental caring attitudes through the adiwiyata program, namely with an average value of 43% with sufficient categories. 2) the form of implementation in strengthening environmental awareness through adiwiyata program with an average value of 49%, with sufficient categories. 3) Constraints faced by students in strengthening environmental awareness through adiwiyata program with an average value of 59%, with sufficient categories.</em><em></em></p>

ABSTRACTServices in the health sector are one of the services that are needed by the community, one of them is service in the field of pharmacy. The therapeutic process of a patient needs collaboration between the pharmacist, physician and other health workers. In some hospitals in Indonesia, they have not implementing all pharmaceutical care activities as regulated in Permenkes No. 72 of 2016. This studied aims to know the opinions and expectations of physician to the role of pharmacist in pharmaceutical care. This research was a quantitative descriptive study and data collection tool used was a questionnaire about the opinions and expectations given to 63 physician. Based on the research results obtained, it was known that the perception of physician tend to agree with an average value of 94,55% for the opinion and for the expectation of 91,78%. So that can be concluded that physician had good opinions and expectation to the role of pharmacists in accordance with Pharmaceutical Care Standards.Key words : Pharmaceutical Care, Physician Perception, Pharmacists.ABSTRAK Pelayanan dalam bidang kesehatan merupakan salah satu pelayanan yang banyak di butuhkan oleh masyarakat, salah satunya adalah pelayanan dalam bidang kefarmasian. Proses terapi seorang pasien perlu adanya kerjasama antara apoteker, dokter dan tenaga kesehatan lainnya. Pada beberapa rumah sakit di Indonesia belum melakukan seluruh kegiatan pelayanan farmasi sebagaimana yang sudah di atur dalam Permenkes No. 72 Tahun 2016. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pendapat dan harapan dokter terhadap peran apoteker dalam pelayanan kefarmasian. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dan alat pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa kuesioner tentang pendapat dan harapan yang diberikan kepada 63 dokter. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh, diketahui bahwa  persepsi dokter cenderung setuju dengan nilai rata-rata untuk pendapat sebesar 94,55% dan untuk harapan sebesar 91,78%. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa dokter memiliki pendapat dan harapan yang baik terhadap peran apoteker sesuai dengan Standar Pelayanan Kefarmasian. Kata kunci : Pelayanan Kefarmasian, Persepsi Dokter, Apoteker.

In seasonal environments, sinks that are more persistent than sources may serve as temporal stepping stones for specialists. However, this possibility has to our knowledge, not been demonstrated to date, as such environments are thought to select for generalists, and the role of sinks, both in the field and in the laboratory, is difficult to document. Here, we used laboratory experiments to show that herbivorous arthropods associated with seasonally absent main (source) habitats can endure on a suboptimal (sink) host for several generations, albeit with a negative growth rate. Additionally, they dispersed towards this host less often than towards the main host and accepted it less often than the main host. Finally, repeated experimental evolution attempts revealed no adaptation to the suboptimal host. Nevertheless, field observations showed that arthropods are found in suboptimal habitats when the main habitat is unavailable. Together, these results show that evolutionary rescue in the suboptimal habitat is not possible. Instead, the sink habitat functions as a temporal stepping stone, allowing for the persistence of a specialist when the source habitat is gone.

The Borowski Theory of Gravitation (BTG) indicates that movements of mass such as planets through space are determined by differential pressures from dark matter. One of the consequences of the final epoch is that there would be no matter but only distance. Quantitative solutions indicate that the tensor to set universal average dark matter pressure equal to G, the gravitational constant, would require that the terminal length would be ~2.2∙1069 m or effectively identical to current estimates of energy equivalence of the universal mass. For the earth’s orbit the force from the dark pressure is the same order of magnitude as the force associated with the product of the planet’s mass and background free oscillations whose origins are still ambiguous. The convergences of solutions suggest that the BTG may reveal alternative interpretations and mechanisms for the role of gravitation in planetary motion.
