Aim: This study explores the changes in regular walking activities during the phases of the pandemic. Background: With the spread of COVID-19 transmission, people are refraining from going out, reducing their physical activity. In South Korea, COVID-19 broke out in the 4th week of 2020 and experienced the first cycle phases of the pandemic, such as outbreak, widespread, and decline. In response to the pandemic, the government encouraged voluntary participation in social distancing campaigns, and people reduced their outside activities. Methods: This article examines the decrease and increase of the Prevalence of Regular Walking (≥30 min of moderate walking a day, on ≥5 days a week) by the COVID-19 phases. This study is based on weekly walking data for 15 weeks in 2020, via the smartphone healthcare app, which is managed by 25 public health offices of the Seoul government. Results: According to the findings, the level of prevalence of regular walking (PRW) has a significant difference before and after the outbreak, and every interval of the four-stage COVID-19 phases, that is, pre-pandemic, initiation, acceleration, and deceleration. The level of PRW sharply decreased during initiation and acceleration intervals. In the deceleration interval of COVID-19, the PRW kept increasing, but it has not yet reached the same level as the previous year when the COVID-19 did not exist. Conclusions: As a preliminary study, this study explains empirically how COVID-19 changed PRW in Seoul. It would be helpful to enhance our understanding of the changes in physical inactivity in the pandemic period.

Mining has two broad side-effects which may be considered degrading to the environment. The first is the environmental effects of the change on the land-use from forest or cropland to degraded wasteland due to the improper dumping of overburden; and the second, which is partially linked to the first, is the displacement of whole villages comprised of families who have husbanded their crops and animals, and lived symbiotically with the forest for centuries if not millenia. This paper is concerned mainly with the first and only partially with the second as this is the subject of a separate paper. This paper outlines methods of estimation of the quantum of degradation caused by mining taking a long-term perspective of the last 50 (to 100) years and the next 50 years. The types of mines listed include a very wide variety including coal mines, bauxite mines, iron-ore mines, manganese, zinc, chromite, asbestos, granite, sandstone, copper, silver, gold and one uranium mine. Oil drilling maybe considered another form of mining or extracting fossil fuels. All these forms of extracting metals, non-metals, rocks, carbons, and hydro-carbons are included under the broad purview of'mining’. Secondary data will need to be obtained from various governmental departments on the numbers of mines which have been opened both before Independence and after in order to establish parameters. In addition data on families displaced, land acquired, land-use before and after will also be obtained. After making meaningful categories primary data on a parsimonious sample of each category and each type of mining (extraction) will be carried out to use as estimators of the parameters. The case study of the Piparar coal mine illustrates the difficulties and the inaccuracies that may be encountered when using average estimators. Notwithstanding these difficulties, on account of the fact that mining has been the cause for a great deal of the environmental degradation in India, it is important that fresh estimates should be made.

The aim of this article is to measure the effect on performance, of the innovation in the organizational structure of the laboratories for clinical research associated with healthcare in infectious diseases of the Evandro Chagas National Institute of Infectious Diseases (INI) at Fiocruz in 2007, na effect herein identified as representative of the corporate intangible assets resulting from such restructuring strategy. The method consists, first, in the analysis of the literature about the measurement of intangible assets and organizational innovation, the potential effects of organizations structure in performance, and the assessment of multipurpose public organizations in health, as sources of the basic notion on relations between intangible assets, organizational structure and performance which is used in this research. Next, the empirical research involves: (a) characterizing the change in organizational structure of 8 INI laboratories; (b) quantifying variables on the use of consumer goods and specialized personnel and on the production of teaching, research and health care; (c) calculating indicators about the development of relative technical efficiency of INI laboratories in the period 2002-2014, through Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA); and (d) using these indicators to compare the performance of these laboratories before and after the organizational innovation associated with the adoption of the Innovative Structure in their restructuring. As a contribution to knowledge, opens up prospects of collaborative research in Administration, Accounting and Economics for the development of a metric for organizational innovation. As management contribution, confirms the association between restructuring of INI laboratories as Innovative Organizations and their improvement in performance. Although the case study method imposes limitations to the generalizability of these results, mainly because there are no sufficient multipurpose organizations that use this methodology in performance assessment, it brings evidence on the potential benefit of the entrepreneurial-oriented innovation for the expansion and improvement of multipurpose public organizations.

This study aims to investigate the effect of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics-Project Based Learning (STEM-PjBL) and discovery learning on students' problem-solving abilities. The research is a Quasi-Experiment with a Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The participants involved are 53 students of class X from a high school in Malang, where 28 students studied with STEM-PjBL, and 25 students studied with discovery learning. This research was conducted on the subject of impulse and momentum. In this analysis, researchers have developed problem-solving tools with a particular field approach to impulse and momentum topics in order to obtain an instrument with a reliability of  0.81. This instrument collects student problem-solving data before and after learning both in the experimental class and in the comparison class. Problem-solving skills data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results showed a significant difference in the scores of students' problem-solving abilities in the experimental class and the comparison class (p<0.05). The problem-solving ability in the experimental class (Md=78.74) was higher than the comparison class (Md=70.00). In STEM-PjBL learning, students are better trained and challenged to solve problems in everyday life. Compared to the comparison class, learning in the experimental class is more able to accommodate students' ideas and make students more interested in learning. In conclusion, STEM-PjBL has a significant positive effect on improving students' problem-solving abilities rather than discovery learning.

The accounting higher education has techniques of knowledge transfer for the professional formation of the academic, therefore, most of the teaching techniques are focused on the disclosure of the laws due to the financial movement of the organizations. Knowing this, much of the advancement in teaching is due to the transmission of the experience of the accounting professor and the student facing the labor market operations. There are other methods of teaching accounting such as lecture, case study, seminars, discussion and debate, however they are still focused on the transmission of experiences or the fictional representation of teaching. This article aims to highlight the use of board games in the Accounting Science course, the teaching based on game fiction, as a way of fixing the content in the teaching of cost accounting, compared to traditional teaching methods. To prove the hypothesis, a board game was created, focused on promoting student engagement and favored the transmission of course content. For research observation and control, questionnaires based research methods were used before and after the use of the game in specific classes of the Accounting Science course. The results were demonstrated through graphs for better visualization. Thus, it was possible to conclude that there was a significant difference in the results before and after the application of this teaching method. In addition, students interacted and became cooperatively involved, which proved the effectiveness of the method in motivating and engaging students in the teaching-learning process.
