Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises play an important role in the Mexican economy, mainly in the generation of jobs and their contribution to the gross domestic product. The national development plan 2012-2018 sees them as a strategic lever for national development and the generation of well-being. However, government support has not been sufficient, in part because of the effects of the recent global economic crisis. Therefore, it is necessary to look for different strategies that contribute to their development, avoiding their stagnation and in many cases disappearance. In response to this problem, the present research was born with the purpose of contributing to these economic units by adapting the Canvas business model as a tool that contributes to its competitiveness.

This study aimed to analyze the characteristics of publications dealing with the Eco-innovation and Strategy issues in the databases Web of Science and Scopus in the period 2001-2015, and identify what topics are being studied along this theme and which are the most relevant, conducting a comparison of results found in the two databases (Web of Science and Scopus). The study has a quantitative approach in order that sought to evaluate some variables related to scientific production on the subject researched. The analysis found 96 publications in the Web of Science and 109 in Scopus. Comparing both surveyed bases it is found that the number of publications increased dramatically in the last decade and that European countries lead the ranking as the number of publications. It is noticed that in both databases, the authors of the most cited publications are not among the authors who have published over in the period. The most cited articles in both surveyed bases belong to the journals: Journal of Cleaner Production and Technovation.

The estimation of cross-section returns for defining investment strategies based on financial multiples has been proven to be relevant following Fama and French’s (1992) research. One of the challenges for such studies is to identify the main variables that are suitable for explaining the returns in a particular context because the variables that are widely used in developed markets behave differently in emerging countries. In this study, we analyze the predictive power of the EV/EBITDA multiple in the context of the Brazilian stock market. The results show that the analyzed multiple has a strong relationship with the future returns of companies listed on the BM&F BOVESPA index between 2005 and 2013. For the period under review, the investment strategy of purchasing stocks when EV/EBITDA was low and selling stocks when EV/EBITDA was high showed abnormal returns of 15.94% per year, even after controlling for risk factors.

This paper aims to identify the competences for sustainability and its level of institutionalization from the perspective of the professors of the Department of Applied Social Sciences (SESA) of a State University of the Center-South region of Paraná, Brazil. The research can be characterized by the quantitative approach and survey method. For data collection, an already tested and validated instrument proposed by Stefano and Alberton (2015) was used to identify the 5 (five) competencies for sustainability (focus on systemic thinking; preventive; normative; interpersonal strategic), as well as issues related to their level of institutionalization (habitualization, objectification and sedimentation), based on the model of Tolbert and Zucker (1999). Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Cronbach's Alpha test and Cluster Analysis were performed. The results show that approximately 70% of the respondents consider the existence of competencies for sustainability at the university, however, the institutionalization of the sustainability theme is at the habitualization level. It is important to identify the competencies that favor sustainability practices in the organizational environment, as well as the institutionalization of these new values, especially in public universities, which, besides their social duty, are educating future generations to make decisions, thus being able to promote a more sustainable future.

This theoretical essay presents a bibliographic research about language and strategy-as-practice by middle management with the goal of answer the research question: how does language contribute with the strategy implementation by middle manager? The middle management studies and language concepts were regarded into a theoretical essay where the language and strategy-as-practice paradigms are confronted. We understand that language can be reckoned as a central character to be studied concerning middle managers work playing different roles that can be assumed as: championing alternatives, facilitating adaptability, synthesizing information and implementing deliberate strategy and through language that the multiple languages can be adapted and the strategizing work can be done. The implications of this essay limit itself by the theoretical and not empirical aspect, but it opens ways to future research lines, theoretical or empirical studies, that can contribute to this study field or to middle manager strategizing practices researches.

Although marketing is related to a management perspective, this field of study have suffered changes in order to provide a better balance to the exchange system. The social marketing appears in this context as an important tool capable to correct these socials imbalances, in some cases, caused by the existence of harmful products and services to the consumer, as the alcohol and tobacco. The aim of this study was to evaluate behavioral and social conditions that lead people to smoke. By doing so, it was developed a literature review about Social Marketing and about tobacco consumption, which revealed the main factors influencing people to smoke. At the empirical work, it was used the Reasons for Smoking Scale, developed by Sousa et al. (2010) at the University of São Paulo (USP). The results were achieved through quantitative approaches, with SPSS 21 support. The field research to collect data was held in three cities of the state of Ceará – Brazil (Juazeiro do Norte, Crato e Barbalha), totalizing 103 valid responses, which demonstrated a great reliability of the scale (α=0.91)

The Ecocentric and Anthropocentric Attitudes toward the Sustainable Development (EAATSD) scale is adapted from other scales measuring environmental concern with the aim of specifically targeting the subject of sustainable development. This scale was tested with three groups of students, those of International Business and Management Studies, and of Sustainable Business, both at The Hague University of Applied Science; and students of Environment and Development at Leiden University College. It was hypothesized that students who chose elective courses concerned with sustainability will be more ecocentric than those from a general business course. Analysis of the findings demonstrates however that while there are individual differences in attitudes between the students within the course, there are no significant differences between the students in different courses. This suggests that anthropocentric and ecocentric values are independent of the students’ chosen course, and that students that follow sustainability course are not more ecocentric.
