The coronavirus is a phenomenon in the last months. The impact on the economy, especially on tourism is devastating. The national governments put into practice several supportive measures to avert the collapse. A specific tool was introduced for tour operators – the issue of vouchers instead of money refund. The aim of this paper is to identify and analyse risks of this measure offered by the Czech government. The identification is based on a combination of sources and methods. The methodologies used are open-question questionnaire and in-depth interviews. From the preliminary results, it is anticipated that the real risks connected with the vouchers are insurance validity, vouchers´ validity and tour operators´ future cash flow.

Goal: This study aims to assess the impact of using the method of real options in investment analysis through a case study on a retail firm. Design / Methodology / Approach: It was targeted the applications of the real options method in a different type of environment and it was compared to another method more commonly used, the discounted cash flow method (DCF). The implementation and assessment of the real options method was investigated by means of a case study conducted in an investment analysis in a retail units firm. Results: The use of the real options method showed a more concise applicability over the DCF method. The results show that the project’s value, after the inclusion of managerial flexibility, increased significantly, which indicates that the analysis of the discounted cash flow undervalued the investment in question, since it disregarded the flexibility to expand or abandon the project. Limitations of the investigation: The presented method is proper to long-term processes where it is possible to make changes during the project. Investments in this sector usually are more related to short and medium-term decisions, making the application difficult due to the short decision-making period available to the managers. Practical Implications: The study provided the incorporation of flexibility through different pathways during the building project in a retail units firm. It was showed different scenarios where practitioners could decide among expanding, proceeding, reducing or abandoning the retail units based on the characteristics of their investments. Originality/value: The results obtained are an indication of this methodology to industrial businesses that are relatively volatile and that need a certain degree of flexibility in order to burgeon, such as the case of the retailing sector.

Advertising and research and development (R&D) benefit firms by increasing sales and shareholder value. However, when a firm is in bankruptcy, the cumulative effects of its past advertising and R&D can be a double-edged sword. On the one hand, they increase the firm’s expected future cash flow, which increases the likelihood that the bankruptcy court will decide the firm can survive. On the other hand, they increase the liquidation value of the firm’s assets, which decreases the likelihood that the bankruptcy court will decide that the firm can survive. The author argues that the ability of advertising and R&D to either increase or decrease bankruptcy survival is contingent on the influence that the firm’s suppliers have, relative to other creditors, on the bankruptcy court’s decision. Advertising and R&D increase (decrease) bankruptcy survival when suppliers have a high (low) level of influence. Empirical analyses, conducted on 1,504 bankruptcies, show that advertising (R&D) increases bankruptcy survival when at least 35%−38% (18%−21%) of the bankrupt firm’s debt has been borrowed from suppliers, whereas it decreases bankruptcy survival below this point. Out-of-sample machine learning validation shows that the ability to predict whether a bankrupt customer will survive is substantially improved by considering the firm’s advertising and R&D.

Kata kunci : Current Earnings, Future Earnings, dan Future Cash Flows from Operations  Abstract – This study aims to look at the impact of the adoption of IFRS gradually, especially the ability of current earnings to provide information about future earnings and future cash flows from operations during the period IFRS convergence in Indonesia by comparing the ability of earnings to predict future earnings and future cash flows from operations of each period. This study uses a quantitative approach to all of the business entity listed on the Stock Exchange during the period 2010-2013 as the research object. The samples used in this study were 420 business entities. The study's findings that there is no increasing relationship between the current earnings and future earnings, but there is an increasing relationship between current earnings and future cash flows from operations. This happens because of the adoption of IFRS requires companies to be more transparent with their full disclosure, so net income is less manipulated, it makes earnings that occurred this period may not be repeated in the next period which led to a decreased ability to predict future earnings, but improving the ability of current earanings to predict future cash flows from operations because current earnings are more closely related to future cash flow from operating activities. In order to support and meet each lecturers' expectations towards an improvement in their ability to teach, a mix of training opportunities has been provided. This consists of an extremely wide variety of experiences, tools, relationships, from which everyone can feel inspired to increase the effectiveness of their teaching and the participation of their students. The provided activities are designed around three main components: methodological training, teaching technologies, methodological experiences. A discussion on the findings is included and presented basing on the data collected through a survey.
