The advances and developments that appeared with the Industrial Revolution have accelerated with the independence of the countries, and the synergy between the craftsmanship and machinery had become a power factor. Particularly the concept of textile has become an inseparable part of the word “art” in the 21st century with the influence of Bauhaus. The use of textile products in interior design as spatial elements made the disciplines of textile and architecture an integral whole. In the article, textile as one of the architectural elements was analyzed for the period where postwar Turkey was in her infancy and trying to rapidly recover, and artistic movements as well as architectural identities, investments and developments that impacted the process were examined. In addition, the power of England’s influence that emerged during 1920s in shaping the world’s textile market and her interactions are examined in the article with various examples. In this context, the concepts of space and textile in Early Republican Era’s Turkey are discussed both as an interior architecture decoration element and as one of the elements in the country’s progress. In this way, the study aims to demonstrate how the history of textile design has evolved through unique trends of each era; the designs, designers and institutions that shape the society and the varying role of textile in space design. Keywords: Early Republic, textile design, Turkey, UK

This paper explains the idea of inception space from Inception (2010), a movie directed by Christopher Nolan, to explore the inception space potential in designing architectural space. Inception space is an architectural space design mechanism that translates the essential experience of space users as an effort to implant idea in the form of positive emotions. In other words, the architectural space is a medium of inception to a space user or a target (mark). The main purpose of inception space design is to affect the target (mark) by planting the idea ‘secretly’. The target is unaware of the intervention and considers the idea presented itself. This process becomes the beginning of an idea to grow in one's mind the beginning of mindset and behavior change. In other words, architects or planners can apply this mechanism to design and influence users so that the design success rate can be improved. The main design keywords as part of the inception process are perception, memory, scenario, layer, and labyrinth. The development of design methods of inception space can be explored and applied to different targets and contexts by applying these design keywords. For example, this design mechanism can be applied to people with dementia who experience memory and visuospatial deficit through wayfinding programming.

Abstract: At present, requirements and development in architectural design lead to the concept of sustainable architecture that is environmentally responsible. The application of sustainable architecture itself must be following the rules in architecture, but still, pay attention to environmental conditions. This topic was chosen to find out how to use sustainable materials in buildings with sustainable architectural concepts both in exterior and interior space. This study aims to find out regarding the understanding of the concept of sustainable architecture and how to use it from the application of sustainable materials to exterior space and interior space in office buildings. As an object of research, the Akanoma architecture studio office building is located in Padalarang, Kab. West Bandung. The application of sustainable architecture is observed in the expression of exterior and space in buildings, as well as the impact of these aspects on the environment. The boundary scope of this study is the utilization of sustainable material applications in terms of patterns, textures and material colors in the exterior and interior space in the building. This study uses qualitative research methods that attempt to analyze objects by describing objects from the point of view and interpretation of individuals (informants) in a natural setting. Study analysis refers to data from field observations based on aspects of architectural appearance in the form of exterior and interior space. The results of the study show that the application of sustainable architecture to the Akanoma Studio office building is an ecologically well-applied approach. This study is carried out in the hope that it can be useful to become knowledge and references regarding the use of sustainable material applications in exterior space and interior space in buildings. Keywords: Sustainable Architecture, Sustainable Material, in Expression of Exterior and Space Abstrak:Saat ini, persyaratan dan perkembangan dalam desain arsitektur menuju pada konsep arsitektur berkelanjutan yang tanggap terhadap lingkungan. Cities have different architectural features in terms of cultural, historical, geographical and social life. It is seen that each city has a unique identity over time. The reason for this is that the people living in the city have lifestyle, social behaviors and cultural values. Many cities have architectural symbols that symbolize that city. Functional use should be prioritized in the design phase of urban furniture, aesthetics is of course an important detail, but in order for the community to be together in the city, urban furniture should be ergonomic and functionality within certain standards in terms of different physical features. The climatic conditions of that city should be taken into consideration in the selection of materials for urban furniture. Lighting elements, plant elements, recreational elements, signs and information signs, floor coverings, artistic objects, including waste bins should be considered together. Urban furniture should complement each other with a holistic approach. It is seen that the materials used in the design have positive and negative effects on people psychologically. Wooden designs using natural materials give the feeling of calmness and rest. It is seen that concrete and iron materials give a sense of strength. In the use of artificial materials, there is a feeling of anxiety. The phenomenon of color in designed urban furniture causes a sense of dynamism or calmness. Remarkable designs are often made for symbolic purposes. It is an important detail for urban furniture that it is sometimes criticized and attracted attention instead of being liked.
