The modern peculiarities of the transformational processes in the development of Ukraine’s agrarian sphere are analyzed, their reasons and consequences are defined; the polarization processes of agricultural production and population on different hierarchical levels, in suburban, semiperipheral, and peripheral country districts, are examined; the approaches to definition and the typical features of the problem rural areas are described; the regularity of increase in rural space polarization in terms of regional development cyclicity and staging is proved. Key words: rural territories, transformational processes, polarization of rural space.

It is important to insert agricultural research in this paper by considering it as a strategic area for providing knowledge and a technological base for agricultural production, considering that this sector generates outcomes with respective impacts to rural zones, supply-chain, economy, society and environment, representing a key piece for reaching United Nations objectives of sustainable development to each country and to the planet. Aiming to analyze how agricultural research organizations (as for instance: INRA and CIRAD, from France and EMBRAPA, from Brazil) have driving sustainability impact assessment methodologies and their interaction with transdisciplinary and holistic principles, using as a base innovation concepts. This paper will display an overview on concepts and approaches about sustainability impact assessment, but looking from a transversal perspective, passing by an historical description on impact assessment and on concepts related to sustainable development and sustainability. We will search for unedited models of sustainability impact systems by converging holism, transdisciplinarity and sustainability. There are several methodologies but few demonstrate an integrated view with a transversal perspective. It is also imperceptible any concrete governance-managerial system for sustainability impact assessment, considering every stage of the process, from a strategic to an operational level, including, analyzing environment, economy and society dimensions as one unique perspective. Such as a complex and multidimensional sector of economy, agricultural research requires profiled sustainability impact assessment with an innovative and dynamic approach.

In order to develop a forecast of the regional agri-food systems, carried out at VIAPI named after A.A. Nikonov, an analysis of the development of agriculture in the regions of the Non-Black Earth Zone is carried out. The conclusion is made about the adaptation of agricultural producers in the zone to market conditions due to the contraction of agricultural production in comparison with 1990, while establishing the profitable work of most agricultural organizations. The uneven development of the regions of the zone was revealed in terms of the indices of agricultural, crop and livestock production (comparison of 2018 with 1990 and 2000), the structure of production by categories of farms, indicators of financial activity, state support, recommendations for its improvement were given. It is concluded that it is premature to exclude the Non-Black Earth Zone as a priority development area from the State Program for the Development of Agriculture and Regulation of Agricultural Product Markets.

Degradation of land is a vital issue throughout the world with the particular references to Bangladesh as it a threat to agricultural productivity. Agroforestry, a land use system is being popular in many countries to protect the land from various types of degradation. Studies have proved that agroforestry can check soil erosion to some extent, increase soil fertility, reduce salinity, alkalinity, acidity and desertification etc. ultimately improve soil health which keep the land suitable for agricultural production. The article has drawn on the basis of various reviews focusing the land degradation situation of Bangladesh and potentialities of agroforsetry. Key words: Land degradation, desertification, agroforestry.

Output is determined by the efficiency with which available technologies are used i.e. with the improvement in technical efficiency. There are extensive numbers of studies focusing on efficiency as a means of fostering agriculture production. The article reviews the literature devoted to technical efficiency analysis in various countries and its applications to agricultural production. The studies reviewed focused particularly on rice and wheat making them the most studied agricultural product by researchers. The review of efficiency analysis shows that agricultural output can be increased without additional inputs with given existing technology. Technical efficiency of agricultural crops like wheat, paddy, cotton etc grown in different countries of the world like India, Pakistan, Ethopia, Srilanka were reviewed and it was found that except for farm size, the variables like farmer education and experience, contacts with extension personnel and access to credit, tend to have a positive and statistically significant impact on technical efficiency.
