Benincasa hispida is a well-known plant and is cultivated throughout the plains of india and on the hills upto 1200 meter altitude. It is a popular vegetable crop widely used for nutritional and medicinal properties especially in asian countries. Benincasa hispida fruit has been valued as a nutritious vegetable as it provide a good source for natural sugars,organic acid, amino acid,vitamins and mineral elements. Phytochemical constituents of this plant are mannitol, triterpenoids, cucurbitin, β-sitosterin, flavanoids, glycosides, carotenes, vitamins and uronic acid. The pharmacological studies revealed that the plant exerted many pharmacological activities such as antiulcer, antihyperlipidemic, antihelmintic, antioxidant, neuropharmacological activity, diuretic activity. Annona atemoya also known as the custard apple is a hybrid between two Annonaceae species: Cherimoya (Annona cherimola) and the sugar apple (Annona squamosa). It is widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical continents including north and south America, Asia, Africa and Australia. Despite becoming an increasingly important commercial fruit plant due to its’ creamy succulent flesh, compared to other Annonaceae species relatively few studies have investigated the phytochemistry and bioactivities of A. atemoya. Studies that evaluated A. atemoya extracts and its constituents were searched through the databases Scopus, Pubmed and Embase from inception to June 2020. Constituents of A. atemoya include alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenes and acetogenins. The results indicate that the constituents of A. atemoya possess cytotoxic, anti-angiogenic, hypolipidemic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective activities. However, many of these studies are currently limited in quality and further phytochemical and pharmacological studies are required.

: In the herbal drug pharmaceutical industry, guggul is enjoying emergent consumer acceptance around the world. In the Indian market, more than fifty formulations of guggul have been introduced by well-known brands including Himalaya, Patanjali and Baidyanath Pharmaceuticals. Basically, guggul is the gum resin from Commiphora wightii (syn. Commiphora Mukul). It has been used to treat various ailments including obesity, osteoarthritis, arthritis, constipation, liver disorders, inflammation, anemia, diabetes, etc. Including medicinal properties, it is used as a good binding agent and mixed in various herbal formulations. To review the major phytochemical, medicinal properties and analytical methods involved in the detection of guggul by using the exhaustive bibliographic research by means of various scientific engines and databases. Guggul contained approximately 66 phytochemical including gallic acid, quercetin, and guggulsterones E and Z. These phytochemicals have a wide range of pharmacological activities such as antioxidant, antibacterial, antimutagenic, antivenom and antitumor. It has been noticed that the mode of action of guggulsterone has not been fully explored. Pharmacology and toxicological studies are very few. These works have shown huge literature gap, which is to be fulfilled through the detailed in-vivo and in-vitro studies.

Medicinal plants are a reservoir of biologically active compounds with therapeutic properties that over time have been reported and used by diverse groups of people for treatment of various diseases. This review covers 15 selected medicinal plants distributed in Myanmar, including Dalbergia cultrata, Eriosema chinense, Erythrina suberosa, Millettia pendula, Sesbania grandiflora, Tadehagi triquetrum, Andrographis echioides, Barleria cristata, Justicia gendarussa, Premna integrifolia, Vitex trifolia, Acacia pennata, Cassia auriculata, Croton oblongifolius and Glycomis pentaphylla. Investigation of the phytochemical constituents, biological and pharmacological activities of the selected medicinal plants is reported. This study aims at providing a collection of publications on the species of selected medicinal plants in Myanmar along with a critical review of the literature data. As a country, Myanmar appears to be a source of traditional drugs that have not yet been scientifically investigated. This review will be support for further investigations on the pharmacological activity of medicinal plant species in Myanmar.

Spina Gleditsiae is an important herb with various medicinal properties in traditional and folk medicinal systems of East Asian countries. In China through the centuries, it has been traditionally used as a source of drugs for anticancer, detoxication, detumescence, apocenosis, and antiparasites effects. Recently, an increasing number of studies have been reported regarding its chemical constituents and pharmacological activities. To further evidence the traditional use, phytochemicals, and pharmacological mechanisms of this herb, a systematic literature review was performed herein for Spina Gleditsiae. The review approach consisted of searching several web-based scientific databases including PubMed, Web of Science, and Elsevier using the keywords “Spina Gleditsiae”, “Zao Jiao Ci”, and “Gleditsia sinensis”. Based on the proposed criteria, 17 articles were evaluated in detail. According to the reviewed data, it is quite evident that Spina Gleditsiae contains a number of bioactive phytochemical components, which account for variety medicinal values including anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antiatherogenic, antimicrobial, antiallergic, and antivirus activities. The phytochemical and pharmacological studies reviewed herein strongly underpin a fundamental understanding of herbal Spina Gleditsiae and support its ongoing clinical uses in China. The further phytochemical evaluation, safety verification, and clinical trials are expected to progress Spina Gleditsiae-based development to finally transform the traditional TCM herb Spina Gleditsiae to the valuable authorized drug.

Abstract Background Bauhinia racemosa is not familiarly known in Asian countries due to its limited existence and lack of medicinal information. It is commonly used as a medicine, ornamental plant, fence plant, and fodder for livestock since ancient times. It is also used as a landfill tree to avoid soil erosion of the forest. Main body In South India, people cultivate this plant in their premises in order to protect themselves from the effects of thunder. In this review, the various research prospects of this plant have been analyzed and are summarized. The aim of this review is to provide the traditional uses, phytochemicals and pharmacological activities of B. racemosa, and to highlight the current pharmacological developments of this medicinal plant. Conclusions The B. racemosa has immense therapeutic potential for treating diseases with both traditional and pharmacological applications. But many traditional uses of B. racemosa have not been validated by current investigations in the aspects of pharmaceutical. Until now, research on phyto-constituents from B. racemosa has not been done in an extensive way. Hence, the identified phytochemicals of B. racemosa should also be subjected to pharmacological studies to illuminate the biological mechanisms of these unreported secondary metabolites for the prevention of diseases or microbial infections and other health disorders of human and animal races.

Ostericum koreanum Maxim., a perennial medicinal plant native to Asian countries, is traditionally exploited in Korean Oriental and Chinese Herbal Medicine. It has been used in the treatment of neuralgia, respiratory problems, and joint pain due to its rich content of phytochemicals. Therefore, the significant role of compounds present in O. koreanum should not be overlooked to explore and develop drugs against diseases. The purpose of this review is to provide a reference for researchers and to describe the phytochemical constituents and pharmacological activity of O. koreanum. In this mini review, we have collected the data from 1980 to 2020 regarding the phytochemicals present and pharmacological activities of this plant. Our findings indicated that this plant possesses a rich source of phytochemicals that have significant pharmacological activities, such as anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic, anti-influenza, anti-cancer, and neuroprotective. These phytochemicals have promising pharmacological activity which should be further explored for the treatment of various diseases.

Medicinal and aromatic plants have been used over the ages for its potency and minimal side effects. Due to this, the exploration is at its highestpeak. Seeing this phenomenon the climbing plant Clitoria ternatea (CT) belonging to the Fabaceae family and commonly known as 'Butterflypea' and Shankpushpi, has been taken up which is used in Traditional Ayurvedic Medicine, because of its varied uses over centuries as a memoryenhancer, nootropic, antistress, anxiolytic, antidepressant, anticonvulsant, tranquilizing and sedative agent. A wide range of secondarymetabolites including triterpenoids, flavonol glycosides, anthocyanins and steroids has been isolated from Clitoria ternatea Linn. Its extractspossess a wide range of pharmacological activities including antimicrobial, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, diuretic, local anaesthetic,antidiabetic, insecticidal, blood platelet aggregation-inhibiting and for use as a vascular smooth muscle relaxing properties. This plant has a longuse in traditional. Ayurvedic medicine for several diseases and the scientific studies has reconfirmed those with modern relevance. The pantcontains many active constitutes like alkaloids, glucosides, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, carbohydrates etc. This review is an effort to explorethe phytochemical constituents and pharmacological studies of CT, which have been in clinical use in the Ayurvedic system of medicine alongwith a critical appraisal of its future ethno pharmacological potential in view of many recent findings of importance on this well-known plantspecies.

Nyctanthes arbor-tristis Linn is one of the important herbal drugs used for therapeutic purpose in India. It is described with the name 'Harsinghar' in Unani Medicine. Various parts of the plant are used medicinally to cure various diseases since centuries ago. These medicinal properties of the plant are due to the active phytochemicals present in the plant. Various chemicals have been isolated from this miracle plant having therapeutic potential possessing ethnomedical and pharmacological activities. It is a rich source of important phytochemicals like nycanthine, astringent principle, beta cortisol, coloring matter, tannins, flavonoids, cardiac glycosides, saponins and alkaloids etc. Pharmacological actions of Harsinghar include cholagogue, anthelmintic, laxative, antipyretic, diaphoretic, diuretic; for which the the plant is employed in the treatment of skin disorders, dandruff, malaria, different types of fever, hemorrhoids, palpitation, cough, excessive menstrual bleeding menstrual etc. Diverse pharmacological studies of the plant have been reported such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antidepressant, antipyretic, antioxidant activity proving the traditional claims scientifically. In this paper, an attempt has been made to summarize the information described in classical Unani texts and updated scientific research conducted on different parts of the N. arbor-tristis plant.

The present highlight the comprehensive ethano-medicinal uses of B. maderaspatensis, to enlighten its phytochemical constituents and pharmacological uses which may useful in various types of diseases. Blepharis is a genus of plant in family Acanthaceae and it contains around 126 species found in seasonally dry to arid habitats. One of its plants, Blepharis maderaspatensis (L.) B. Heyne ex Roth has been recognized by the Utinjan, Otigan, Utagan, and Chatushpatri in Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, and Sanskrit respectively. Leaf extract of B. maderaspatensis rich in phytoconstituents like saponins, mucilage, flavonoids like caffeic acid, rutin, quercetin and ferulic acid. It is useful in various types of diseases as proved by pharmacological studies as an anti-hyperlipidaemic, anti-atherogenic activities, anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive activity, anti-ulcer activity, wound healing activity and in diabetic wound. The review suggests the similar uses and nomenclature of B. maderaspatensis to Blepharis edulis as mentioned in Wealth of India. Blepharis maderaspatensis (L.) B. Heyne ex Roth has rich phytoconstituents and varied pharmacological activities. Further, it has similar uses as Blepharis edulis mentioned in Wealth of India. Blepharis maderaspatensis (L.) B. Heyne ex Roth is the species of original Utingan stated in Ayurveda. Likewise, it has similar properties and action to the Blepharis edulis (Forssk.) Pers. which could be useful for different types of diseases like inflammation, ulcer, wound, diabetic wound. Present review highlights the phytoconstituents and different ethanomedicinal claims and some proven pharmacological activities.

<p>Solanum tuberosum commonly known as potato belongs to solanaceae family. The whole part of potato plant including leaves; tuber, peel and juice are used in traditional medicine. A number of pharmacological activities of potato have been reported viz. Antioxidant, anticancer, antiallergy, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiobesity, anti-ulcer activity. Potato contains Phenolic acids, anthocyanin, flavonoids, vitamin B6, vitamin B3, pantothenic acid, potassium, manganese, phosphorous; copper and fibres. The medicinal properties, traditional uses, nutritional value, phytochemical constituents, taxonomy, geographic origin and distribution have been mentioned in this present review to provide collective data for multipurpose benefits.</p><p> </p>
