Erasmus Darwin was the focus and embodiment of provincial England in his day. Renowned as a physician, he spent much of his life at Lichfield. He instigated the founding of the Lichfield Botanic Society, which provided the first English translation of the works of Linnaeus, and established a botanic garden; the Lunar Society of Birmingham; the Derby Philosophical Society; and two provincial libraries. A list of Darwin's correspondents and associates reads like a "who's who" of eighteenth century science, industry, medicine and philosophy. His poetry was also well received by his contemporaries and he expounded the evolutionary principles of life. Darwin can be seen as an English equivalent of Lamarck, being a philosopher of nature and human society. His ideas have been linked to a multitude of movements, including the nosological movement in Western medicine, nineteenth century utilitarianism, Romanticism in both Britain and Germany, and associationist psychology. The relationships between various aspects of Darwin's interests and the organizational principles of his writings were examined. His poetical form and medical theory were not peripheral to his study of nature but intrinsically linked in providing his contemporaries with a panorama of nature. A richer, more integrated comprehension of Erasmus Darwin as one of the most significant and representative personalities of his era was presented.

The craniomandibular dysfunction (CMD) is a pathology that can appear at early ages. In a sample of 36 childrenresiding in Madrid (Spain), of both sexes, with ages between 7 and 13 years, the prevalence of signs and symptomsof CMD was analyzed. For that purpose, we did a dental and muscular examination, together with temporomandibularjoints, functional and occlusal examination, and completed with a specific questionnaire. The results revealedthat 100% showed some sign or sympthom of CMD. 77,8% of the pacients presented 3 or more CMD signs. The most prevalent were painful muscle palpation (94,4%), together with sliding anteriorly (91,7%), painful jointpalpation (69,4%), wear facets in permanent teeth (41,7%) and altered opening and closing trayectory (38,9%). Onthe other hand, only 38,9% showed any CMD symptom. The most prevalent symptoms were night teeth grinding(27,8%), followed by tooth sensitivity (19,4%) and fullness in the ears (16,7%). We conclude that in our sample,25% presented mild CMD (less that 3 signs or symptoms), 58,3% presented moderate CMD (from 3 to 6 signs orsymptoms) and 16,7% showed severe CMD (more than 6 symptoms). Nevertheless, it’s important to remark thatnone of these pacients came seeking treatment for his CMD and these symptoms were refered only when beingasked. Hence the importance of a comprehensive clinic history to precociously diagnose this pathology and havethe ability to prevent its progression.

Abstract : Pipetting is one of the most important activities in health laboratory analysis. Knowledge of pipetting must be owned by every health laboratory. Students of health analyst as a candidate of health laboratory who will become medical support service unit is expected to be able to do the pipetting precision and accurately. To get a thorough and accurate results then the results of the analysis must be located within a specifc control area and both in precision and accuracy. Precision and accuracy are responsible for analytical interpretation of test results and testing procedures. The method use in this research is the forward method by 61 people research samples which determined by simple random sampling. While the research design used was observational analytics. Based on the results of the research obtained the level of knowledge of respondents research is 71,38; precision pipetting 99,69% and accuracy pipetting 99,58%. From the data that has been obtained then analyzed statistically using tau kendau test. The result indicates that the level of knowledge and precision has a p=0,640 and correlation coeffcient of -0,044 so that the Ho is accepted, meaning there is no relationship between the level of knowledge and precision meaningful. Meanwhile, the level of knowledge and accuracy of the p=0,574 and correlation coeffcient value is -0,053 so that Ho is accepted, it means there is no relationship between the level of knowledge with accuracy.

This paper considers the current status of physical education and sport science in Indonesia from the perspective of the development of the professional knowledge base and research culture surrounding its practice. It seeks to place the field’s development within the broader context of international sport studies from 1945 to 2020. It identifies as major influences the process of globalisation and the growth of international sport as a significant political and economic entity. Physical education is acknowledged as a common historical base for the three modern strands within contemporary sports studies – medical /and health science, high performance studies, and sports business management. Future developments are considered in the context of the current pandemic. Covid19 and the world’s response to it has impacted on some key dimensions which underpin the current global sports economy – namely easy and convenient travel and the gathering of crowds in the widespread consumption of live sport. It is suggested that this might cause a major reset in the conduct of elite sport and sport festivals. The continuing growth of the physical activity and health sector is predicted and in the context of the serious challenges facing the sporting sector a case is made for increased resources to be moved back into the educational study and practice of sport and physical activity as a universal good.

An influential view of working memory (WM) holds that its’ contents are controlled by a selective gating mechanism that allows for relevant perceptual information to enter WM when opened, but shields WM contents from interference when closed. In support of this idea, prior studies using the reference-back paradigm have established behavioral costs for opening and closing the gate between perception and WM. WM also frequently requires input from long-term memory (LTM), but it is currently unknown whether a similar gate controls the selection of LTM representations into WM, and how WM gating of perceptual vs. LTM sources of information relate to each other. To address these key theoretical questions, we devised a novel version of the reference-back paradigm, where participants switched between gating perceptual and LTM information into WM. We observed clear evidence for gate opening and closing costs in both cases. Moreover, the pattern of costs associated with gating and source-switching indicated that perceptual and LTM information is gated into WM via a single gate, and rely on a shared source-selection mechanism. These findings extend current models of WM gating to encompass LTM information, and outline a new functional WM architecture.
