The quality of vocational education immediately after high school in Germany depends on cooperation between schools and companies as partners in the vocational education ‘Dual System’. If this system is to remain efficient in the future, current problems need to be solved. Therefore, a new concept of cooperation is introduced. This concept considers regional potential and opportunities for development and incorporates other local investors besides the traditional partners of the ‘Dual System’.

Our paper is a report on the past, current and future state of the endangered Pite Saami language (aka: Arjeplog Saami) spoken in Swedish Lapland. Our primary data come from interviews with Pite Saami individuals and our field observations. We estimate the vitality of Pite Saami based on the UNESCO Language Vitality Scale, taking into consideration factors such as the number of speakers, language attitudes and the quality of documentation. We also discuss the possible reasons for the decline of Pite Saami, report on the speakers’ views of other Saami languages and Swedish, consider whether there is a specific Pite Saami identity, describe revitalization efforts already taking place, and discuss the future prospects of the language.

Kampung Keluarga Berkualitas (Kampung KB) is one of the development programs to create quality families in Indonesia. Kampung KB is a village-level regional unit with integration and convergence in implementing empowerment and strengthening of family institutions in all its dimensions to improve the quality of human resources, families, and communities. The growth of Kampung KB in Jambi Province shows the high government's attention to this program to improve the quality of life of its people. However, the Kampung KB's success in improving the community's quality of life is largely determined by the level of community participation itself. This study analyzes the factors that influence community participation in the Kampung KB Program in Jambi Province. This study uses primary data obtained through target group respondents in Kampung KB in Jambi Province. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a binary logit regression model. The study results found that the overall level of community participation in the Kampung KB Program was moderate. The level of community participation was significantly related to education, length of stay at the location, and distance from house to the place of activity.

It is a great pleasure to contribute some words to the debate about Engineering Education as well as to broaden the discussion about the future evolution of this discipline. Thanks to the International Journal of Engineering Pedagogy (iJEP) and its editor-in-chief, Matthias Utesch, as well as to the collaboration between the IGIP (International Society for Engineering Pedagogy), we have received a possibility to collect the best papers of our 9th Trefort Ágoston Conference on Vocational Education and Training and Technical Teacher Training at Óbuda University (ÓE) Electrical Engineering Faculty in Budapest, in Hungary. The Conference was organized as an IGIP Regional Conference for the third time. Before introducing the articles, I summarize the main important elements influencing the Higher Engineering Education in Hungary. The Fourth Industrial Revolution unfolds, companies are seeking to harness new and emerging technologies to reach higher levels of efficiency of production and consumption, expand into new markets, and compete on new products for a global consumer base composed increasingly of digital natives. There are several requirements for qualified engineers: they have to be creative, critical thinking, complex program solvers and have to have competencies of cognitive flexibility, high-level communication, teamwork, and application of foreign languages. At our university, we have recognized several problems according to SWOT analyses. Not enough number of students would like to select STEM faculties. The rate of early school leaving (ESL) is too high in the STEM area. Requests of the Labor market have not appeared in Training curricula. The candidate students do not know the future carrier and the content they have to learn. In secondary schools, the development of basic competencies and STEM subjects is not effective e.g. teaching Math is not practice-oriented, this is why the results of students on PISA tests are weaker. The preparation for higher education is not enough, which leads to ESL by the end of the first year in higher education. The quality of knowledge of secondary education pupils is an important input for engineering higher education. The vocational secondary schools can provide the majority of starting engineering studies at technical universities. The technical teacher training prepares the vocational teachers for secondary vocational schools. The quality of technical teacher training, the adequacy of curricula to professional needs can be key questions for the future of engineering education. The practice of vocational teacher-students is a basic element of their studies. These practices are organized in secondary vocational schools. But realizing these practices needs a mentor teacher. In this Trefort Project, we selected 6 presentations and asked the authors to submit their articles for a Special Issue of the International Journal of Engineering Pedagogy (iJEP).

Abstract Sustainability is related to diverse relationships that exist in the world as well as to the attitudes evolving in a person’s diverse life activities, including education and work. In the sustainable employability model, there is a pedagogical idea of experience and self-identity and individual values revealing the level of personal sustainability. The present study explores vocational education students’ personal sustainability as a predictor to sustainable employability in the future. The study involved 151 vocational education students’ self-assessment of valuable (sustainable) personal characteristics, their attitude to being honest, helpful and responsible. The results have shown that the most valuable self-characteristics are being good tempered, helpful and kind. Students’ attitudes to being responsible and honest change during school years – 1st and 2nd year students do not consider them important values but senior students acknowledge them. It means that their lived experiences have promoted personal sustainability development ensuring more sustainable employability in the future.

ABSTRACT This study aims to provide empirical evidence and analyze independence, competence, work experience and gender on the quality of LHP study results. The population of this study is a reviewer in the Main Inspectorate of BPK and staff outside the main Inspectorate unit that has revised LHP. The sample in this study was 56 reviewer. The data in this study is the primary data obtained from the answers of questionnaires given to the respondents. Hypothesis testing is done by using multiple regression which has previously tested the validity, reliability and test of classical principle. Test results show achievement and results. Further research can test based on gender groups to find out evidence of experience as a determinant of the quality of the results of the study. This is done with consideration based on the samples tested, where the number of male and female smoothes is not much different, the experience is not proven by the review results. Statement of the problem. The relevance of the problem of improving the quality of modern medical students’ independent work is derived from both its traditionally major role in personality development, and modern socio-economic conditions. The purpose of the article is to determine the conditions for improving the quality of modern medical students’ independent work through analyzing the main problems associated with organization of medical students’ independent work and the key factors that determine the quality of modern medical students’ independent work. Research methodology. The research methodology included a content analysis of literature on the issue of students’ independent work as well as analysis of the results of a questionnaire-based survey conducted among 853 students of Professor V.F. Voino-Yasenetsky Krasnoyarsk State Medical University. The study is based on an autonomy-oriented approach which emphasizes self-determined continuous personal and professional development of a specialist. Research results. According to the study results, more than 50 % of medical students devote less time to their independent work than it is stipulated by the curriculum. Furthermore, 34 % of students declared their independent work inefficient. Nearly 40 % of the respondents demonstrated motivation to avoid failure, while only 27,4 % showed autonomous motivation and willingness to take responsibility for their own training. At the same time, 95 % of students reported lack of interest in memorizing theoretical material and doing tests. Alternatively, working in a clinic with patients, training in a simulation center, and performing creative activities (63,3, 38,4, and 33 % of respondents, respectively) were recognized among the most interesting and motivating tasks. About 60 % of respondents reported having problems in communicating with their teachers while working independently. Conclusions. The obtained results indicate that among the factors determining the quality of modern medical students’ independent work the most important place is occupied not so much by technology and access to resources, as by personal characteristics and competencies of the main educational actors: teachers and students.

Abstract. Delay discounting (DD) is the process of devaluing results that happen in the future. With this review, we intend to identify specificities in the processes of DD in impulsive behavior. Studies were retrieved from multiple literature databases, through rigorous criteria (we included systematic reviews and empirical studies with adult human subjects), following the procedures of the Cochrane Collaboration initiative. Of the 174 documents obtained, 19 were considered eligible for inclusion and were retained for in-depth analysis. In addition, 13 studies from the manual search were included. Thus, a total of 32 studies were selected for review. The objectives/hypotheses, results, and the main conclusion(s) were extracted from each study. Results show that people with pronounced traits of impulsivity discount rewards more markedly, that is, they prefer immediate rewards, though of less value, or postponed losses, even though they worsen in the future. Taken together, the existing data suggest the importance of inserting DD as a tool for initial assessment in conjunction with measures of addiction and stress level, as well as the consideration of new therapies.
