Introduction. The current situation in the higher education system is characterized by a rethinking of the applied learning technologies and forms of interaction of its participants. The purpose of this study is the theoretical validation and empirical evaluation of the video podcast technology reliability in distance Learning, the central idea of which is the thematic video podcasts creation by students in team work with the teacher’s tuition in the LMS Moodle, H5P. Materials and methods. The study involved 100 students of Togliatti State University majoring 23.05.01 "Land transport technological complexes" (level of specialist). Main research methods: the method of theoretical analysis and modeling, experimental training, the method of mathematical statistics and graphical representation of data. Evaluation of the reliability and the effectiveness of the developed technology were carried out using the Wilcoxon T-test. Results of the study. This technology includes a set of psychological and pedagogical principles; a bank of interactive tasks and methodological recommendations for students to create a video podcast; technical equipment for feedback and online teacher-students interactive team work. Referring to the CEFR, we have developed the Scale of controlled skills: linguistic aspect (Range, Accuracy, Coherence), pragmatic aspect (Interaction, Technical skill, Timemanagmen skill), sociolinguistic aspect (Fluency, Mediation) mastered with the Video podcast technology in distance ESP teaching, and designated their descriptors. The semester experimental training showed: linguistic skills of students increased by 38 %; pragmatic skills by 58%, sociolinguistic skills by 42%. The application of the Wilcoxon T-test under the condition p < 0,05 and Texp < Tcr (in our case Texp= 2,5, Tcr = 3, i.e. Texp < Tcr) proves the obtained results reliability and indicates the technology effectiveness. Conclusion. The developed technology is applicable at any stage of ESP teaching and enhances the organization process of the students’ activities in a distance education.

The formation and development of the university's personnel potential is one of the conditions for joining the project to support higher education organizations announced by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in June 2020. The project is called the Strategic Academic Leadership Program. The fulfillment of this condition cannot be carried out without overcoming the limitations and effective responses to the challenges that are associated with the academic profession. The article is a review. Its purpose is to study threats and barriers to the development of the university’s personnel potential. It is shown that as internal threats one should consider the high stressfulness of faculty activities, violation of their personal safety and low loyalty; the barrier is the vulnerability of the academic profession. The research focuses on the current staff of Russian universities. The main research methods are analysis and synthesis of relevant scientific periodical literature. The main result of the study is the position that the presence of threats and vulnerabilities in the academic profession entails consequences that have a devastating effect not only on the personality of the teacher, the university, the academic community, but also on the higher education system as a whole, catalyze the departure of teachers from the academic profession, and prevent the preservation of and the development of the university personnel potential, ensuring the competitiveness and attractiveness of the university.

The present study investigates the effect of negative emotions (focusing on disappointment, sadness and regret) on cognitive schemas. The sample consist in students from the University of Bucharest (convenience groups). A univariate unifactorial experimental design was used, as the current study had one independent variable, negative emotions, and a dependent variable, cognitive schemas, which was measured with the Core Beliefs Questionnaire instrument. We applied T test for independent samples, using SPSS. The t test was statistically significant, t (45) = 2.57, p <0.05. The confidence interval (95%) for the difference between the averages is between 2.95 and 24.35. After applying the intervention, the evaluated sample (M = 43.17, SD = 29,074) showed a statistically significant difference compared to the control group (M = 29.52, SD = 11.257). The data collected support the main research hypothesis of the study, negative emotions can bring about changes in certain cognitive schemas by modifying, altering or disrupting them.

Abstract In order to develop novel solutions for complex systems and in increasingly competitive markets, it may be advantageous to generate large numbers of design concepts and then to identify the most novel and valuable ideas. However, it can be difficult to process, review, and assess thousands of design concepts. Based on this need, we develop and demonstrate an automated method for design concept assessment. In the method, machine learning technologies are first applied to extract ontological data from design concepts. Then, a filtering strategy and quantitative metrics are introduced that enable creativity rating based on the ontological data. This method is tested empirically. Design concepts are crowd-generated for a variety of actual industry design problems/opportunities. Over 4000 design concepts were generated by humans for assessment. Empirical evaluation assesses: (1) correspondence of the automated ratings with human creativity ratings; (2) whether concepts selected using the method are highly scored by another set of crowd raters; and finally (3) if high scoring designs have a positive correlation or relationship to industrial technology development. The method provides a possible avenue to rate design concepts deterministically. A highlight is that a subset of designs selected automatically out of a large set of candidates was scored higher than a subset selected by humans when evaluated by a set of third-party raters. The results hint at bias in human design concept selection and encourage further study in this topic.
