A field experiment was conducted at the central nursery of tea extension center of Bangladesh Tea Board in Bandarban during September to November, 2015 to determine the precise concentration of Indole Butyric Acid (IBA) on propagation through stem cuttings of tea. The experiment was laid out in a randomized block design with four treatments of IBA concentrations: 0 ppm (Control), 2000 ppm, 4000 ppm and 6000 ppm and each treatment was replicated four times. Basal part of tea (BT-2 variety) cuttings were dipped in different IBA concentrations for five seconds. Then these cuttings were dibbled into prepared soil mixture as rooting media. Cuttings were exposed to the rooting media for 90 days and then they all were removed carefully to assess the variation of establishment of cuttings. IBA treated cuttings showed better effect on the rooting rate, root length, root number, shoot length and survival rate compared to the control. It was noted that cuttings treated with 4000 ppm IBA produced the highest rooting rate 79.85%, the highest survival rate 57.60% and the highest root length of 4.85 cm followed by treatment 6000 ppm IBA. In case of all parameters, effects of the treatments 4000 ppm and 6000 ppm of IBA were statistically similar. Positive and strong correlation was observed both in rooting rate versus survival rate and root length versus shoot length in IBA treated cuttings. Thus, IBA at 4000 ppm concentration was recommended for establishment of stem cuttings of tea (BT-2 variety) in the nursery.The Agriculturists 2016; 14(2) 124-129

The research was conducted to determine the effects of IBA concentration on the growth of pineapple seedlings sprout from crown cutting on each type of growing media. The treatment was arranged in factorial (5x2) in randomized block design with three replications. The first factor is the concentration of IBA (A), which consists of: without IBA (A0), IBA 100 ppm (A1), IBA 200 ppm (A2), IBA 400 ppm (A3), and IBA 600 ppm (A4). The second factor is the type of planting medium (B), which consists of river sand (B1) and volcanic sand (B2). The results showed that the concentration of IBA 600 ppm treatment effect on seedling growth shown by the increasing number of roots produced. Treatment planting medium used had no effect on all observed variables. IBA concentration on root wet weight depending on the type of planting medium used.

The research was conducted at the cutting red bettle (Piper crocatum Ruiz and Pav.) to determined the effect of (1) the difference growth of cuttings of red bettle which are given IBA and without IBA, (2) the concentration of NAA on growth of cutting red bettle, (3) the concentration of NAA on growth of cutting red bettle on each given IBA. The treatment was arranged in factorial (2 x 4) in randomized block design with three replication. The first factor were without IBA (A) and the given of 1000 ppm IBA (A1). The second factor were the concentration of NAA consists of: 0 ppm (B), 1000 ppm (B1), 2000 ppm (B2), and 4000 ppm (B). The results showed that the NAA concentration of 4000 ppm produced the most number of roots on either at the node or at the base of cutting. Planting cutting red bettle which given IBA 1000 ppm was able to accelerated the time leaves open and increased the number of cutting which germinate. The mixtured of giving IBA 1000 ppm and the concentration of NAA 4000 ppm, produced the most number of cutting that germinated.

Coconut water contains natural auxin growth regulators which are useful in stimulating root cuttings. This study aims to obtain the optimum of concentration of coconut water on the roses of cutting. The research was conducted from August to October 2018, in Pasir Sereh Village, Cihideung Village, Parompong District, West Bandung Regency, West Java Province. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 6 treatments and 4 replications, namely A (Control), B (Concentration of 10% Coconut Water), C (Concentration of 20% Coconut Water), D (30% Concentration of Coconut Water), E (40% Concentration of Coconut Water), F (50% Concentration of Coconut Water). The parameters measured in this study were germination age, number of shoots, number of leaves, leaf area, root length, and root volume. The results showed no concentration optimum of coconut water which had a good effect on the growth shoot and root of stem cuttings of roses. At concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%, the growth shoot and root of rose cuttings was not different effect that without treatment.

Abstract. The research was conducted in 2018 in order to investigate the effect of location, tree gender and indole butyric acid (IBA) 4000ppm on rooting of semi-hardwood stem cuttings. Two locations (Al-Samrah and Al-Nabaeen) in Latakia province, Syria, different in latitude and above sea level (500 m and 827 m, respectively) were studied. The results showed significant effect (p<0.05) of the location and tree gender on rooting capacity. No rooting was observed in control (without IBA treatment). Location also affected the number of roots/cuttings. No effect of location or tree gender on root length and diameter was established. The highest rooting rates (%) were for cuttings taken from female trees from Al-Samrah location when treated with IBA 4000 ppm (82.2%).

The main goal of the study was to determine the effect of various  Papaya varieties and liquid organic fertilizer on the growth of Papaya seedlings(Carica papaya L.). The research used Randomized Block Design (RAK) with two factors factorial experimental. The first factor is Variety (V) consists of 3 Papaya varieties: v1= bangkok , v2= red lady , v3= sunrise. The second factor is Fertilizer (C) consists of 3 brands: c1= Em4 10 ml, c2= Green Tonic 10ml, c3= Nasa 10ml. This study has 3 treatment levels consisting of 9 combinations and  repeated 3 times. The results of the study are treatment of various varieties (V) had significant effect on stem diameter and root number. The effect of various liquid organic fertilizer (C) had significant effect on the root length parameters. The interaction all treatment had a very significant effect on the root length and the root number parameter.

Native Piper species present significant repellent, antimicrobial, inseticidal, anti-tumor and anti-protozoal biological activities. Studies on new species can discover unpublished potentialities and vegetative propagation for the development of cultivation protocols and reduce the natural extraction. The objective of this study was to evaluate the rooting of P. arboreum, P. cernuum and P. diospyrifolium stem cuttings with different treatments containing doses of indole butyric acid (0, 500; 1,000; 1,500; 2,000 and 3,000 mg L-1). Branches were collected in the “Bom Jesus Biological Reserve”, Parana state, Brazil. The cuttings, with a length of 12 cm and average diameter of 6 mm, were placed in 53 cm3 plastic tubes with the commercial substrate Tropstrato HP® and intermittent misting. After 90 days, the survival, mortality, cuttings with new shoots, number and length of the three main roots were evaluated. The percentages of rooting reached an average of 67.5% for P. arboreum, 51.6% for P. cernuum and 50.4% for P. diospyrifolium. A positive effect in the treatments containing the plant regulator was observed for rooting development, percentage of cuttings with shoots and number of roots per propagule, but there were variations in the responses of each species. Leaf retention was an important factor for the adventitious rooting formation in all evaluated species.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of different doses of limestone, phosphorus, and potassium on the initial development of Anacardium humile (Cajuzinho-do-cerrado) seedlings. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse. A randomized block design was adopted in a 3x4x4 factorial scheme (liming x phosphorus x potassium doses). The treatments consisted of three liming doses (0; 40; and 70% of base saturation), four doses of potassium chloride with 60% of K2O (0; 60; 120; and 180 kg ha-1), and four doses of triple superphosphate with 46% of P2O5 (0; 80; 160; and 240 kg ha-1), with six replications. The following characteristics were evaluated: stem diameter (SD), plant height (PH), root length (RL), shoot dry matter (SDM), and root dry matter (RDM). The data were submitted to analysis of variance and the averages were compared by Tukey’s test (p < 0.05). It was concluded that there was no influence of phosphorus doses on the initial development of A. humile seedlings and that there was a response to the association between liming and potassium chloride in vegetative growth.

The common method of propagation is through seeds but seed germination in Zanthoxylum armatum is very low due to the presence of hard seed coat, which might be a great hurdle for large scale production of plantlets. So an attempt was made in this study to see the effect of different growth hormones, their concentrations and different rooting media on the rooting and sprouting of Z. armatum. The stem cuttings of Z. armatum were treated with two types of auxins namely Indole-3-Butyric Acid (IBA) and Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA) at different concentrations (2000 ppm, 3000 ppm and 5000 ppm), while the untreated cuttings were used as control. The cuttings were planted in three different rooting media: sand, neopeat and mix (containing a mixture of sand, soil and vermin-compost). The completely randomized design was used for the experiment. The total number of stem cuttings of Z. armatum used in the experiment was 1080 for 18 treatments in three replicates (20 cuttings per treatment x 18 treatments x 3 replicates). The experiment was set up in controlled greenhouse conditions at Dabur Nepal Private Limited Nursery, Banepa, Kavre District. The parameters evaluated were root length, shoot length and number of roots per cutting. The collected data were analyzed statistically using R-program with Agricola. Least significant difference (LSD) and Duncan multiple Range Test (DMRT), as mean separation technique was applied to identify the most efficient treatment in the rooting and shooting behavior of Z. armatum (Gomez and Gomez, 1984). Hormone concentration and growth media significantly affected the rooting and shooting ability of Z. armatum stem cuttings. IBA was found to be more effective than NAA. Neopeat medium was better than sand and mix media. The highest number of roots (6.5) and root length (11.6 cm) were recorded under IBA 5000 ppm in neopeat medium.

In 1991 leafless stem cuttings 7 nodes long from 4 maternal parents (`Carver', Carver ii', `TU-1892' and `Georgia-Jet') and their progenies (MP/P) were planted 3 nodes deep in greenhouse benches filled with Jiffy-Mix to determine if any similarity in storage (SR) or fibrous root (FR) patterns could be used to identify high yielding cultivars in a breeding program. The experiment was planted in a complete randomized block design with 7 replications for each treatment and the total number of SR and FR data were collected over a 9 wk period with weekly sampling. The results indicated that SR initiation was a continuos process and took from 5-9 wk before reaching a maximum level for some MP/P. There was a significant inverse relationship between SR and FR numbers, as SR increased FR decreased. SR for most MP/P were initiated at the underground node closest to the soil surface and FR at the lower two nodes. When regression equations were used on the greenhouse data to predict total number of SR that would be produced in a field trial, no significant differences were found between the number of SR initiated in the greenhouse and field trial 80 days after transplanting by some of these MP/P. However, cultivars with the highest number of storage roots in the field trial did not have the highest number of marketable roots or yield and this was probably due to differences among MP/P in the rate of root enlargement.

Using fruit branch for pepper shrub propagation is one of alternatives for an efficient pepper multiplication which usually uses underlayer cuttings. This research is aimed at finding the growth response of two pepper (Piper nigrum L.) cuttings to the administration of IBA (Indole Butyric Acid) and NAA (Naphthalene Acetic Acid). This research was conducted at the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara, Medan (± 32 m above sea level), from April to August 2017 using a factorial randomized block design with 2 factors, pepper branch cuttings (primary branch cuttings and secondary branch cuttings) and the administration of IBA and NAA (0+0 ppm, 2500+0 ppm, 0+2500 ppm, 1500+1000 ppm, and 1000+1500 ppm). The results show that the emerging shoot rate in the secondary branch cuttings was significantly faster than in the primary branch cuttings, but the volume of root in the primary branch cuttings is significantly larger than in the secondary branch cuttings. There was no significant difference in the administration of IBA and NAA on all observed variables. The highest interaction of shoot length was found in the  primary branch cuttings with the administration of  IBA 1500 ppm + NAA 1000 ppm and the highest percentage of root and root volume was found in the primary branch cuttings with the administration of IBA 2500 ppm + NAA 0 ppm.
