Background: Medical institutes remained on complete shut down during the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic while Information Technology (IT) bridged the teaching learning between the students and teachers. The study objectives were to determine the opportunities and obstacles of teaching learning process and overall effectiveness of online classes over traditional classes. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from July 2020 to December 2020 between students and teachers of Khulna city Medical College, Khulna, Bangladesh. An online questionnaire was developed using google form containing four sections about different aspects of IT and teaching learning process. Results: Around 87% (160 vs 48) students and teachers responded to the questionnaire. The most preferred online teaching learning platform for students and teachers was zoom (84.4% vs 83.4%) and the favored devices were smart phone (96.2% vs 87.5%) followed by laptop computer (90.6% vs 83.3%). The majority felt connected to each other (82.5% vs 62.5%) and could work faster and effectively (75% vs 66.7%). Conversely, students (65.6%) felt online learning was more enjoyable than teachers (29.2%), where significant difference was found; (p= 0.006). Poor network (98.1% vs 79.1%) and affordability of mobile data (81.2% vs 66.7%) were the two main barriers among them. On-line teaching-learning neither increased student- teacher interaction (51.9% vs 66.7%), nor had better scope of asking question (52.5% vs 70.8%) and there was less scope of explaining details (52.5% vs 66.7%). Oral assessment was the most preferable (89.4% vs 83.3%), but the practical assessment (78.1% vs 83.3%) was the least preferable method for assessing students’ knowledge and skill online. Overall effectiveness of online classes over traditional classes was scored around 50% (±10%) by students and teachers (58.1% vs 62.5%). Conclusion: Despite having barriers like poor network, data affordability and limited computer and net usability, online classes played a pivotal role to continue the academic activities in a medical college during Corona pandemic. Objectives: To explore the challenges parents face when their children study online. Their views and opinions on the efficacy of the online learning program and the attributes of virtual classes are sought in the study. Methods: A survey study was conducted with an online questionnaire administered to more than 2000 parents of pre primary and primary classes from ten public schools of Delhi National Capital Region. Findings: More than 75% of the parents surveyed are satisfied with the online classes taking place and believed that it is working for them. 41% of the parents are of the opinion that teaching methodology is the most important factor enhancing the teaching-learning process in virtual mode for the parents. 29% of the parents believe that personalised attention given to the children can improve the system. These findings help in strengthening the process of online teaching. Novelty: In the recent months a lot of research has been happening in India on the feasibility and efficacy of the online classes owing to the closure of the school after the outbreak of the pandemic. However, most of this research does not take into account the digital divide the parents face. The current study addresses this gap and looks at the online teaching-learning process from the parents’ point of view, which can assist the policy makers. This paper explored the pedagogical preparations taken by the researcher in integrating blogs to the traditional classroom experience as well as its use in online classes as a tool for students to write about what they have learned in class and relate it to everyday life. The researcher utilized web blog, combined Facebook and Multiply blogsites, in the online teaching. Utilization of blogsites to supplement the traditional method of teaching was a welcome innovation for most students. The study involved thirty-eight (38) enrolled students of the course English 111. The familiarity and convenience of facebook and multiply blogsites makes learning and complying to requirements an enjoyable task. Blogs as a learning space for English 111 was an effective teaching methodology appreciated by the students. However, the integration of blogs in the traditional teaching learning process requires preparation and planning on the part of the teacher so that applicable and timely activities could be given to the students.

Background: The current ongoing coronavirus-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has brought a sea change in education teaching learning system, ways and methodologies. Online teaching has been enforced suddenly for students worldwide. It has become a substitute to traditional teaching. Aware of the fact that the Corona pandemic has changed the way of learning teaching, we want to find out what students think about their real predispositions. This study is to compare and evaluate the opinions, preferences, experiences of undergraduate medical students during continuous online classes since the onset of Pandemic times.Methods: A sample size of 115 undergraduate medical students of batch 2019 was taken for the study done in Sardar Patel Medical College of Bikaner, Rajasthan, India in October 2020.A questionnaire was prepared using Google forms application and was filled by students online.Results: Majority of students had a preference and interest for traditional mode of teaching, they agreed on better understanding of concepts and details of topic and grasping more of knowledge through it. But majority of students also agreed that they are getting more time to study now with online teaching.Conclusions: This study gives an in depth insight into the current ongoing online teaching methodologies and throws light on changing acceptance of students to the current COVID-19 pandemic ways of teaching and on welcoming a better “blended learning” pattern in the upcoming Post COVID-19 new normal times.

Aim: To identify infrastructure facilities used by the students for digital education as well as to find out the significant difference in knowledge and skills of various online tools before and after lockdown. Study Design:  Exploratory design. Place and Duration of Study: Students from the government, aided colleges, and state agriculture universities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were administered the questionnaire in May 2020. Methodology: A total of 315 students (age range under 20-40 years) actively participating in online classes were chosen. Results: The majority of the students possessed mobile phones even before lockdown and used them for digital learning. Students reported an increase in the amount spent on internet connectivity per month (50%), increased usage of data (70%), and increased recharge amount (46%). Since the overall mobile data usage of the students has greatly increased, consequently the amount spent on the internet also has increased after lockdown. Although most students (90.48%) were aware of online education, only 30.79% were enrolled in online classes before lockdown. Three fourth of the students were using smartphones for accessing online classes and more than fifty per cent of the students were spending two to three hours per day in the digital learning process. When it came to knowledge up-gradation, 48.89% of the students have not made use of any e-learning platform, only 21.27% used the Swayam e-learning portal, and 12.06% used UGC MOOCs. During the lockdown, students were actively participating in the online classes, which could be gleaned from their knowledge of various apps. There was a significant difference in the students’ usage of various applications before and after lockdown. There exists a significant difference between students’ knowledge of usage of apps, data, the amount spent, and time spent in the digital learning process during Covid-19. Students who were active in the online classes inadvertently consumed more amounts of mobile data, which gave them continuous network coverage enabling them to finish assignments, attend webinars, and in turn improved their knowledge. Conclusion: Despite hardships, the students were actively engaged in digital learning during the lockdown period imposed due to Covid-19 by adapting to the new normal mode of online education.

Background and Objective: The corona-virus (COVID-19) pandemic has had devastating impacts on not only the health and socio-economic conditions but also on the education sector in various countries. Consequently, the world of education entered a new era of E-learning. This descriptive study, thus, aims to evaluate the standpoint of medical and dental undergraduates regarding E-learning amid the Covid-19 lockdown. Methods: A descriptive online questionnaire was used to gather responses via Google forms. The questionnaire consisted of questions categorized as technology access, online skills and relationships, students’ views, and student’s perception of possible advantages of E-learning. Two hundred and eighty three medical and dental students of CMH Lahore Medical College participated in the study. Results: One hundred and seventy nine female and 104 male students responded to the questionnaire. The results of the study showed students encouraging the accommodation of E-learning into current teaching practices. Students agreed online study material not only provides flexibility in the learning process (p=0.003) but also saves time (p = 0.012). Female participants showed a more positive readiness response towards e learning than males (p =0.001). Results also showed students have easier access to online teaching resources. Regarding online lectures, the students believe that online lectures were more organized (p= 0.001) and stimulated student interest (p=0.026). Students believe that frequent participation in the learning process is important for success in online education (p=0.002). Since the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) was present in Indonesia, the government took a policy to conduct the online teaching-learning process. Some applications were used in conducting the teaching-learning process. Two applications are most used in South Tapanuli namely WhatsApp and Google Classroom because these applications had the widest range. Based on the background, the research was conducted to investigate whether there were any significant effects of using WhatsApp and Google Classroom on Language Testing subjects in the fifth-semester students of the Education Institute of South Tapanuli. Quasi-experimental was applied (pretest and posttest design) with 25 students for WhatsApp class (experimental class 1) and 25 students for Google Classroom (experimental class 2). Furthermore, the independent sample t-test as the parametric statistics couldn't be used to determine the hypothesis because the data was not normal distribution so the Mann Whitney U test was used which is equivalent to the independent sample t-test. The result of the pretest showed that both groups didn’t give any significant difference because the Man Whitney U test showed Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) was more than 0.05 (0.600>0.05). The result of the posttest showed that both groups didn’t give significant differences either because the Man Whitney U test showed Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) was more than 0.05 (0.541>0.05). This calculation showed there were no significant effects of using WhatsApp and Google Classroom on Language Testing subjects among the fifth-semester students of the Education Institute of South Tapanuli. In other words, this calculation gave us that the use of WhatsApp and Google Classroom gave almost the same effect.

Introduction: Due to the Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) lockdown implemented by the government, we had to transform our classes into the online sphere. The most commonly used methods of online teaching in Government Medical College, Thrissur were, live online lectures, PowerPoint presentations with narrations, prerecorded videos and assignments. Aim: To assess the logistical aspects, merit and demerits of different online teaching-learning methods among phase-1 medical student in a tertiary care teaching hospital during COVID-19 lockdown Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted from July 2020 to September 2020, among phase-1 MBBS students of Government Medical College, Thrissur, Kerala, India. Data was collected from 161 students through a questionnaire consisting of two parts. The first part dealt with logistical aspects, like net connectivity, gadget, expenditure, financial burden, residence and eye strain with online teaching learning methods. The second part dealt with the merits and demerits of each type of teaching learning methods, according to the students. All statistical data was analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 16. Qualitative data was expressed as a percentage. Results: A total of 97.5% population of students was able to frequently access the online classes. Online learning strained the eyes of 47.8% of students. Mobile phones were used by 92.5% of students for attending online classes internet connectivity was mainly through 4G (71.4%) followed by Wi-Fi (19.9%) connections. Their most preferred method of online learning was online live lectures (35.4%) followed by PowerPoint presentations with narrations (33.5%). Blended learning (online and traditional together) was best preferred method of learning (46.6%). Conclusion: Live online lectures and blended learning were preferred by the majority of students. Thus, the online classes can be continued along with the traditional teaching in future.

In response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, most of the higher education institutions (HEIs) across the globe have replaced conventional teaching with online teaching. However, the technological preparedness of countries of varied nature differs significantly. In this context, the purpose of the study is to answer the following research question: how are the HEIs mitigating the difficulties that have resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic to facilitate online teaching–learning process? The study is carried out based on a cross-sectional study from 281 academic professionals who are employed in HEIs in India and Ethiopia. The findings from this comparative study highlight that digital divide and lack of institutional preparedness are found to be major problems that constrained the effective implementation of online teaching/learning. Besides, this study also found that training programmes for the faculty members to utilize web resources and facilitate online teaching were found to be limited in both the countries. The article concludes by offering suggestions and policy advice to minimize the digital divide and for successful implementation of online teaching in HEIs.

The main aim of the AHKME e-learning platform is to provide a system with adaptive and knowledge management abilities for students and teachers. This system is based on the IMS specifications representing information through metadata, granting semantics to all contents in the platform, giving them meaning. In this platform, metadata is used to satisfy requirements like reusability, interoperability and multipurpose. The system provides authoring tools to define learning methods with adaptive characteristics, and tools to create courses allowing users with different roles, promoting several types of collaborative and group learning. It is also endowed with tools to retrieve, import and evaluate learning objects based on metadata, where students can use quality educational contents fitting their characteristics, and teachers have the possibility of using quality educational contents to structure their courses. The learning objects management and evaluation play an important role in order to get the best results in the teaching/learning process.
