An experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of supplementing of exogenous phytase enzyme on productivity of commercial broilers. Four strains of commercial broiler such as Fast feather, Arbor acres, Cobb-500 and Hubbard classic each having 78 numbers were reared for a period of 5 weeks. A total number of 312 day old broiler chicks were distributed into two dietary treatments i.e. basal diet (Control-T0) and basal diet supplemented with phytase enzyme 1g/kg feed (supplemented-T1). The results indicated that broilers fed on diets supplemented with phytase have gained more body weight when compared with control group (P<0.05). The first and second highest body weights were recorded for the strains Cobb-500 and First feather broilers, respectively, which feed on diet containing phytase.   Feed consumption varied significantly between the broilers on different dietary regimes. Significant differences (P<0.01) were found in feed conversion ratios among the birds fed on diet with phytase enzyme. The lowest feed conversion ratio was in Cobb-500 fed on phytase diet where as the highest was in Fast Feather provided with only basal diet during the 5th week of age. Average feed conversion ratios were 1.73 and 1.86 for the supplemented and control group respectively. Use of phytase as feed additive in the diet resulted in high profitability/ broiler. Net profit per live broiler was the also higher in treatment group compared with control groups of birds. The highest net profit per live broiler was observed in Arbor Across strains fed on phytase diet. The result of the present study suggests that the addition of dietary phytase enzyme in the diet of broiler may increase the production performance and reduce the cost of production.Bang. J. Anim. This work aimed at investigating the potential as a growth enhancer of different dietary concentrations of turmeric (Curcuma longa Linn.) as an alternative to oxytetracyline and antibiotics and as comparable to mannan oligosaccharide for broiler chicks. A total of 252 Hubbard broiler chicks at one day of age were distributed randomly in a straight run experimental design among six treatments, each replicated seven times, with six unsexed chicks per replicate. The basal diet was administered without supplements (control group) or supplemented with turmeric at 0.5, 1, and 2 g/kg diet, or with mannan oligosacride (MOS) at 1 g/kg feed or with oxytetracycline (OTC) at 50 mg/kg feed. Growth performance, carcass characteristics, meat quality traits, blood biochemical constituents, antioxidant status and red blood cell (RBCs) were investigated. Turmeric supplementation at 1 g/kg feed significantly improved feed conversion ratio (FCR) and European production index compared to the control group and MOS groups. The results indicated that turmeric can be used at 1 kg/t feed as a phytogenic feed additive as an alternative to OTC or MOS without negative effects on the productive and economic traits of broilers. There were no differences from using OTC and MOS, while there was an increase in the European production efficiency index and the broilers’ health status.

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of dietary supplementation of nano selenium on production performance in commercial broilers during summer stress. Dietary nano selenium was compared with other anti-stressors such as inorganic selenium, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Betaine and 1% Glutamine. A total of 420 commercial broilers were divided into seven treatments with three replicates of 20 birds each and were supplemented with basal diet (control), inorganic Se (0.30 mg/kg), nano Se (0.15 mg/kg), Vit E (250 mg/kg), Betaine (2g/kg), Glutamine (1%) and Vit C (250 mg/kg). The highest body weight (1945.17 ± 25.28) and the lowest feed consumption (2973.16 ± 41.25) with better FCR (1.56 ± 0.02) was observed in birds supplemented with nano Se than other anti-stressors and control group. It was concluded that supplementation of nano Se in broiler diet improved the productivity of commercial broilers during summer stress.

The study included 300 unsexed broiler chicks (Hubbard) were used to evaluate (Roselle Flower) as a feed additives on the productive performance of broiler. The chicks were divided into five groups with three replicates (20 birds in each) and fed on five diets. Diet 1 (control group) dried Roselle flower powder were supplemented to the diet 2, 3, 4 and 5 as 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1% respectively. The result revealed that a significant (P<0.05) increase in body weight, body weight gain, feed consumption and improvement in feed conversion ratio. Although the differences between groups for edible parts percent were not significant (Heart, Liver and Gizzard). The hematological values PCV%, RBC, WBC and H/L ratio were increased significantly (P<0.05) and cholesterol values decreased significantly as compared with control group. It can conclude that Roselle as other herbal plants may be considered as a feed additive in broiler diet would improve the productive performance, hematological and biochemical values of broiler. Diet Roselle flower supplementation of (1g/kg) might be acceptable for achieving optimum broilers performance.

This study was conducted at the poultry farm ,Veterinary Public Health .,College of Veterinary Medicine, to study the effect of Tumeric (Curcuma longa) on broiler performance and some physiological traits .Two hundred fifty day-old (Rose308) broiler chicks were all located randomly to five treatments from 1-42 days of age, with tow replicate pens (25 birds /pen) per treatment .Chicks were fed the following :- Diet (1)Using basal diet free from herbal plants kept as control , Diet (2) Basal diet + 0.25% of Curcuma longa (250 gm/100kg of feed) Diet (3) Basal diet + 0.50% of Curcuma longa (500 gm/100kg of feed ).Diet (4) Basal diet + 1% 0f Curcuma longa (1000 gm/100kg of feed ).Diet (5) Basal diet plus 1.5 % of Curcuma longa (1500 gm/100kg of feed ).Results revealed that the inclusion of turmeric at the levels of 0.50% in the diets improved body weight ,feed conversion ratio ,there were a significant difference in feed consumption . At the same time there was no significant difference for edible parts, were as found significant difference (P˂ 0.05) for dressing percent for all treatments treat with compare for control group . At the same time there was no significant difference in PCV, RBC, Hb, WBC while there was significant difference in H/L ratio, Albumin and globulin.

The experiment was conducted with 108 day old straight-run Hubbard Classic broiler chicks for a period of 35 days to investigate the effects of citric acid, commercial herbal additive (Keqinling) and their combination on growth and carcass traits of broiler. The dietary treatments were control (T0), 0.5% citric acid (T1), 0.2% Keqinling (T2) and combination of 0.5% citric acid +0.2% Keqinling (T3).  Final live weight was 1615, 1710, 1707 and 1795g in control, 0.5% citric acid, 0.2% Keqinling and their combination groups respectively. The highest live weight gain (1748g) was found in combination group followed by 0.5% citric acid (1664g), 0.2% Keqinling (1660g), and the lowest (1568g)in control group. The highest feed consumption and feed conversion efficiency was observed in T3 and the lowest in group T0. Significantly (p<0.05) the highest dressed yield (%) was found in 0.5% citric acid group (56.65) than combination (55.73) and Keqinling (55.18) and lowest in control group (54.59). Citric acid reduced the pH of the both feed and faces. The cost of production (Tk/kg broiler) was lowest in citric acid group (Tk. 76.22). Net profit per broiler production was found in 0.5% citric acid group (Tk. 10.03/broiler) followed by combination (Tk. 9.28), Keqinling (Tk. 7.31) and control group (Tk. 6.98) respectively. The addition of 0.5% citric acid and 0.2% Keqinling individually or their combination increase the performance of broiler but citric acid showed better response than Keqinling.Bang. J. Anim. The study was conducted to investigate the effect of Fenugreek and Ginger Powder. The additiveswere added to diets of broiler chicken for 6 weeks (along the period of experiments). The Productionperformance, the Physiology and the Microbial balance in the intestine were studied.150 day-old Hubbard Chicks were divided randomly into 5 groups were as follow:1- Group one: Basal diet (control group).2- Group Two: Basal diet to 0.5 % Fenugreek.3- Group Three: Basal diet to 1 % Fenugreek.4- Group Four: Basal diet to 0.5 % Ginger.5- Group Five: Basal diet to 1 % Ginger.The results showed:1- The groups which treated by Fenugreek seeds powder (0.5 %) and by Ginger (0.5 %)and (1%) showed insignificant increase in body weight compared with T1.2- The groups which treated by Fenugreek seeds powder (1%) showed significantdecrease (P<0.05) in body weight compared with other groups.3- There was no significant differences in the feed conversion coefficient betweendifferent groups.4- Improvement of blood parameters of T2, T3 , T4 and T5 compared with T1.

An experiment was carried out to investigate the performances with 1080 male Cobb-500 broiler chicks using different levels of a microbial phytase in plantbased diet. Six dietary treatments were formulated as follows; the first 3 diets were balanced with Ca and Av. P according to the recommendation of Cobb-500 served as basal diet without phytase enzyme (T1), basal diet with 100g phytase ton-1 feed (T2) and basal diet with 200g phytase ton-1 feed (T3), while the last 3 diets were deficient in Ca and Av. P and containing no phytase enzyme (T4), diet with 100g phytase/ton feed (T5) and diet with 200g phytase ton-1 feed (T6). All 6 treatments were replicated 6 times. Body weight, feed consumption and mortality of broilers were recorded weekly. The highest body weight was found in T3 with 200g phytase ton-1 feed with recommended Ca and Av. P level in the diet, followed by T6 with 200g phytase/ton feed with deficient in Ca and Av. P level in the diet (P<0.05). The lowest weight was found in T1 without phytase with recommended Ca and Av. P level in the diet. The feed consumption, feed conversion ratio and mortality of the birds during 35 days of experimental period did not differ significantly (P<0.05). The meat yield characteristics at 35 days of age were non-significant among different treatments (P>0.05). Significantly lower value of total ash (%), Ca (%) and total P (%) of tibia was found in control group (T1) and T4. The results of this experiment revealed that phytase supplementation at 200g ton-1 of feed improved broiler performances at either recommended or deficient level of Ca and Av. P. SAARC J. Present work aimed to study the influence of dietary ginger inclusion in female mice on gastrointestinal integrity, hepatic condition and metabolic parameters. Thirty female mice (18± 2 g) were assigned into 3 groups; control group fed standard rodents’ basal diet, ginger 2% and ginger 5% mice were basal diet supplemented with 2% and 5% ginger powder, respectively for 30 days. Weight gain, feed conversion (FCR) and efficiency (FER) ratios were recorded. Serum liver enzymes, lipid profile, total protein and albumin were measured beside estimation of hepatic reduced glutathione (GSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA). Gastric, intestinal and hepatic histopathology were performed as well as intestinal histomorphometry. Results revealed improvement in FCR, FER and most tested biochemical parameters, in 2% ginger group than control. Hepatic MDA and GSH were significantly (P<0.05) increased and decreased, respectively in 2% ginger group. However, ginger 5% group exhibited improvement in intestinal histomorphometry while adversely affected gastric mucosa and hepatic tissue histopathology. Also increased hepatic MDA and reduced GSH were prominent in 5% ginger group along with mild gastric and hepatic lesions. The administration of dietary ginger by 2% dose could be beneficial mice model however, increasing the dose to 5% could produce adverse effects on hepatic integrity and gastric mucosa.

This study is targeted at evaluating whether C. deserticola addition promotes digestion, nitrogen and energy use, and methane production of sheep fed on fresh forage from alfalfa/tall fescue pastures. The sheep feeding trial was conducted with four addition levels with C. deserticola powder, and a basal diet of fresh alfalfa (Medicago sativa) and tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea). Addition levels of 4% and 6% improved average body weight gain (BWG) by 215.71 and 142.86 g/d, and feed conversion ratio (FCR) by 0.20 and 0.14, respectively. Digestibility of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and ether extract (EE) was 62.25%, 65.18%, 58.75%, and 47.25% under the addition level of 2%, which is greater than that in the control group. C. deserticola addition improved energy utilization efficiency, while addition levels of 2% and 4% increased nitrogen intake and deposited nitrogen. Overall, C. deserticola has the potential to improve growth performance, digestion of sheep, so it has suitability to be used as a feed additive.

Abstract The study was designed to investigate the effect of mannan-oligosaccharide (MOS) supplementation on intestinal histomorphology, immunity against Newcastle disease virus (NDV) and productive parameters of broilers. A total of 1800 day old broiler chicks of Cobb-500 strain were selected and randomly assorted into 6 treatment groups: T1 (basal diet without antibiotics as negative control); T2 (basal diet plus antibiotics as positive control group); T3 (basal diet plus 200g/ton MOS); T4 (basal diet plus 400g/ton MOS); T5 (basal diet plus 600g/ton MOS) and T6 (basal diet plus 800g/ton MOS). Each treatment was having 6 replicates and the feed intake, body weight gain and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were recorded on weekly basis. Results showed that, MOS supplemented birds have significantly higher feed intake, weight gain and FCR (P < 0.05). Similarly, supplementation of MOS showed positive effect on villus height and crypt depth both in jejunum and ilium. Goblet cell density was unaffected by MOS addition (P < 0.05). Furthermore, birds fed with diets containing MOS, exhibited better productive performance in comparison to positive and negative control groups. In conclusion, MOS can replace antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs) as non-microbial performance-enhancing feed advocates.
