The present study was aimed to translate and adapt the Revised Identity Style Inventory (ISI-5) developed by Berzonsky et al. (2013) in an indigenous setting. A sample of 600 adolescents was selected from public and private schools in Punjab. The standard procedure of the back-translation method recommended by Water’s et al. (2006) was used to translate and adapt the Inventory. Exploratory Factor Analysis on the sample of adolescents (n = 350) demonstrated three distinct factors that is, diffuse/avoidant identity style, informational identity style, and normative identity style. Factorial structure elucidated that two items of normative identity style were discarded due to low factor loading whereas one item from normative style was loaded on informational identity style. Confirmatory Factor Analysis on the independent sample of adolescents (n = 250) confirmed this three-factor model with good model fit indices. Alpha reliability coefficients were also computed. Moreover, the factorial structure of the scale is considered as validity index. Limitations and suggestions for further investigations were also discussed.

The Anxiety about Aging Scale (AAS) is a questionnaire developed based on multidimensional aging anxiety to measure anxiety towards aging. However, the AAS constructs and items vary depending on the study population. This study aimed to explore the validity and reliability of AAS through evaluation of exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) among youths in Malaysia. A cross-sectional was conducted among 1988 university and college students in Klang Valley, Malaysia, selected using stratified proportionate random sampling. EFA results suggested four factors solution based on the interpretation of Eigenvalues and scree plot with 59.11% variance extracted. Results of CFA supported the four-factor model of revised 17-item AAS with acceptable model fit indices and high factor loading. The revised 17-item AAS has good reliability through the assessment of the internal consistency of the items. In conclusion, the revised 17-item AAS measures four distinct factors is a valid and reliable questionnaire to measure anxiety towards aging among Malaysian youths

Abstract. The purpose of the present research was to develop and provide initial validation of the Fitness Coaching Behavior Scale (FCBS-Fit) designed for assessing perceived the quality of instructor’s behaviors in fitness group classes through the theoretical adaptation to the Coaching Model (Côté et al., 1995), originally derived from sports. In total, 618 participants of fitness group classes accepted to participate in this investigation. The purpose of the research was achieved in three phases: (1) development of the item pool and content validation of the preliminary version of the FCBS-Fit (27 items); preliminary examination of the factorial structure through exploratory factor analysis (n1 = 185) that revealed a scale with 20 items distributed by 4 factors: Technical and Positive Rapport, Exercise Planning and Prescription, Negative Rapport, and Goal Setting; (2) confirmatory factor analysis to the 4-factor model indicated adequate fit model fit, reliability and convergent and discriminant validity. In addition, a multi-group CFA indicated measurement invariance of the factorial structure across samples (n2 = 210); (3) structural equation model examined criterion validity through analysis of the relationships between the 4-factors of EPCI-Fit and enjoyment in exercise (n3 = 223). Psychometric evidence suggests that the FCBS could be used as a reliable and valid measure to assess Portuguese participant`s perceptions of the quality of instructor’s behaviors in fitness group classes.Resumen. El propósito del presente estudio fue desarrollar y validar preliminarmente la Escala de Percepción del Comportamiento del Instructor de Fitness (EPCI-Fit) cuyo objetivo es evaluar la calidad de los comportamientos de los instructores de fitness en clases de grupo, a través de la adaptación teórica al Coaching Model (Côté et al., 1995), original del entrenamiento deportivo. En total, participaran 618 practicantes de fitness en clases de grupo de diversas áreas del litoral de Portugal continental. El propósito del estudio fue alcanzado en tres fases: (1) desarrollo del banco de ítems y validación inicial del contenido de la versión inicial de EPCI-Fit (27 ítems); la evaluación preliminar de la estructura factorial a través de análisis factorial exploratorio (n1 = 185) que resultó en una escala con 20 ítems distribuidos por 4 factores - Feedback técnico positivo, Feedback negativo, Formulación de objetivos, y Planificación y prescripción del ejercicio; (2) estimación del ajuste del modelo de 4-factores a través de análisis factorial confirmatorio, y análisis a la fiabilidad compuesta, y validez convergente y discriminante (n2 = 210); evaluación de la invariancia métrica del modelo de 4-factores en dos muestras independientes (n1 = 185; n2 = 210); y (3) estimación de la validez de criterio a través del análisis a las relaciones entre los 4-factores de la EPCI-Fit y el disfrute en la práctica de ejercicio (n3 = 223). En general, los resultados provenientes de las diferentes fases de análisis psicométrico a EPCI-Fit soportan la validez y la fiabilidad de los datos, indicando que esta escala podrá ser utilizada en el futuro para evaluar las percepciones de la calidad del comportamiento del instructor de fitness en clases de grupo. Resumo. Preliminary data were collected to evaluate the performance of a social self-efficacy measure among 4,061 public high school adolescents. Principal-axis factor analysis was followed by a 4-way between-groups analysis of variance (ANOVA) to test for differences in the Total score means on selected demographic estimates and their interactions. Relations between the Total score and selected risk behaviors were examined through a series of one-way ANOVAs and the Tukey HSD test. Factor analysis results suggested a one-factor model best explained the factor structure of the scale items (factor loading range = .64–.77, eigenvalue = 4.05, h2 = .51). Females reported a significantly higher mean Total social self-efficacy rating than males, while White students reported a significantly higher mean Total social self-efficacy rating than Black and Asian students. Statistically significant lower mean Total social self-efficacy ratings were also noted for those who reported physical fighting, avoiding school, and being bullied.

Abstract.FACTORIAL STRUCTURE ANALYSIS OF THE APRENDER A CONVIVIR PROGRAM OBSERVATION SCALE IN 3-YEAR OLD (ROAC-3)The present study analyzes the factorial structure and the internal consistency of the observation scale of the Aprender a Convivir program for 3-year-old (ROAC-3) used to assess student learning related with the contents worked on the Aprender a Convivir program. Aprender a Convivir program is aimed at 3 to 7-year-old students and develop social competence with a preventive purpose (Alba, Justicia-Arráez, Pichardo y Justicia, 2013). Results show the existence of seven factors within the ROAC-3, after the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis performed. Likewise, a social competence one-factor model was found for the scale, considering that the variables were positively and statistically significant around the social competence latent factor. In general, internal consistency coefficients of ROAC-3 were adequate.Key words: Aprender a Convivir program, social competence, observation scale, confimatory factor analysis.Resumen.En la siguiente investigación se analiza la estructura factorial y la consistencia interna del Registro de Observación del programa Aprender a Convivir en 3 años (ROAC-3), utilizado para evaluar el aprendizaje del alumnado en relación con los contenidos abordados en este programa de intervención. Aprender a Convivir es un programa dirigido al alumnado de 3 a 7 años que desarrolla la competencia social con un objetivo de prevención (Alba, Justicia-Arráez, Pichardo y Justicia, 2013). Los resultados encontrados tras los análisis exploratorios y confirmatorios, muestran la existencia de siete factores dentro de la escala. Por otro lado, se obtuvo un modelo unifactorial del registro total ya que los siete factores se relacionaron de forma positiva en torno a un factor latente, la competencia social. Los índices de consistencia interna del ROAC-3 fueron adecuados.Palabras clave: Aprender a Convivir, Educación Infantil, registro de observación, competencia social.

This study examined the construct validity of the Graduate Academic Potential Test (PAPS). The examination was performed on all existing PAPS series (6 forms) to identify the consistency of dimensionality structure of PAPS. Data of this study were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The results of the analysis support assumption that the structure of the PAPS test is unidimensional. All of the model fit indices support the decision that the unidimensional model fit the data. The study also examined factor loading that the non-verbal components, especially the quantitative components that had a higher factor weight than the other components.

Abstract The objective of the present study was to give continuity to the validation process of the Academic Life Assessment Scale (ALAS) by verifying its internal structure and the relationship with other related variables. The study involved 580 undergraduate students from two universities in the state of Paraíba, one public and one private. A majority of the participants were male (55%) with an average age of 22 (SD = 4.94) who responded to the ALAS and the Academic Experience Questionnaire - Reduced (AEQ-r). To verify the internal structure of the ALAS, first, a confirmatory factor analysis was performed and, as the structure was not confirmed, an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was performed. After EFA, a three-factor model was found, which presented good reliability, as well as correlation with academic experiences measures. This study contributes to the literature suggesting a new factorial structure for ALAS.

The Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scale III (FACES-III) has been widely used to measure an individual’s family functioning in terms of cohesion and adaptability. In Malaysia, the FACES-III has been translated into the Malay language for the community, but its psychometric properties in this context remain unknown. Thus, the purpose of this research is to examine the psychometric properties of the Malay version of the FACES-III in 852 adolescents attending secondary schools in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Data were randomly split into two halves: the exploration sample and the validation sample. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted on the exploration sample and a two-factor model was discovered after removing nine items that showed low factor loading. Then, confirmatory factor analysis was conducted on the validation sample to compare the one-factor models, two-factor models, and three-factor models. Results showed that the 11-item two-factor model (FACES-III-M-SF) was superior to the other competing models. Both the exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses replicated the two-factor structure of the original version of FACES-III. The reliability of the overall scale was consistently good, but the subscale results were mixed. This suggests that researchers should use the overall score, but not the subscale scores, in analyses.

This study examined the psychometric properties of the Evidence-Based Practice Questionnaire (EBPQ). The 24-item EBPQ was developed to measure health professionals’ attitudes toward, knowledge of, and use of evidence-based practice (EBP). A confirmatory factor analysis was performed on the EBPQ given to a random sample of National Association of Social Work members (N = 167). The coefficient alpha of the EBPQ was .93. The study supported a 23-item 3-factor model with acceptable model fit indices (χ² = 469.04; RMSEA = .081; SRMR = .068; CFI = .900). This study suggests a slightly modified EBPQ may be a useful tool to assess social workers’ attitudes toward, knowledge of, and use of EBP.

In the subjective well-being (SWB) measurement model, there are three models used by researchers, namely one-factor model (unidimension), two-factors model, and three-factor model. This study aims to test the validity and reliability of the SWB measure and compare the measurement model of SWB with confirmatory factor analysis method. The total subjects used in this study were 1,003 people with an age range of 14 - 50 years. Positive Affect Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) were used as SWB measurements. The results showed all dimensions have Alpha reliability above 0.80 with item-total correlation above 0.3. The results of exploratory factor analysis showed that all items are well distributed to their  dimensions with a factor loading above 0.4. Thus the scale in this study has satisfactory validity and reliability. The comparison of three hypothetical model showed that the three-factor model has the best model fit compared to the other two models. This finding provides evidence that the three components in the SWB construct are separate and independent of each other.

Introduction: Digitalization in the 21st century has transformed nearly all aspects of our society, including education. However, many believe that this transformation is occurring with little strategic planning and much may not be ready for all that it brings to the table. The Digital Readiness for Academic Engagement (DRAE) scale is a useful tool and merits validation in different contexts for effective use.Objective: To validate the DRAE scale in healthcare students in Pakistan.Methods: The scale was circulated electronically via Google forms to faculty members of different medical colleges and universities of Punjab using the convenience-sampling method for sharing with their students. A total of 7 institutions participated. The responses were collected from a sample of 1744 undergraduate students. The demographic variables included gender, semester enrolled, and age. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 25 (for exploratory factor analysis) and AMOS version 26 (for confirmatory factor analysis).Results: The mean age of the respondents stood at (SD=20.55 ± 1.6). The largest proportion of students were from MBBS (41%), followed by allied health science and Dentistry. EFA results in the two-factor model which was confirmed by CFA. The goodness-off indices were achieved by removing four items (1, 2, 7, 8) with factor loading below .80 and by drawing covariance between errors.Conclusion: The original model with 5 factors was not applicable and a 2-factor model was validated by CFA for our context.KEYWORDS: Digital Readiness, Academic Engagement, Medical Education, Digitization & Validation.
