Rapeseed (Brassica napus) is one of the most important oil crops worldwide. However, an intriguing new use for rapeseed has recently developed: as an ornamental. Tourism based on blossoming fields of these yellow flowers has become a new economic growth opportunity in China. From a breeding perspective, two main problems currently limit the potential of rapeseed as an ornamental. First, the flowering period is quite short (30 days on average), which limits economic income; second, the flower color in commercial cultivars is currently limited to bright yellow, which may pall quickly for sightseers. This review summarizes the possible problems of using rapeseed as an ornamental, and details factors affecting the flowering period, how the flowering period can be prolonged by integrating optimal cultivation measures or/and spraying with chemical reagents, and ways of creating and breeding rapeseed with diverse flower colors.

This study was conducted with the aim of identifying the factors affecting economic growth in ASEAN member countries during the period of 2005 - 2014, with the countries sampled in this study were six countries namely Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. The method of analysis used is the method of Data Panel Regression and Fixed Efect estimation model by using analytical tool to help process data is Eviews 7 program. While data used is panel data from eight ASEAN countries covering 10 year periods. The result of analysis shows that the acceptance of International Tourism Sector and Foreign Direct Investment has positive and significantinfluenceto the economic growth in eight ASEAN countries while the Labor Force is inconclusive. The study also found that Export of Goods and Services had a negative and significanteffect on economic growth.

Abstract Main conclusion The molecular mechanism underlying white petal color in Brassica napus was revealed by transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses. Abstract Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) is one of the most important oilseed crops worldwide, but the mechanisms underlying flower color in this crop are known less. Here, we performed metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses of the yellow-flowered rapeseed cultivar ‘Zhongshuang 11’ (ZS11) and the white-flowered inbred line ‘White Petal’ (WP). The total carotenoid contents were 1.778-fold and 1.969-fold higher in ZS11 vs. WP petals at stages S2 and S4, respectively. Our findings suggest that white petal color in WP flowers is primarily due to decreased lutein and zeaxanthin contents. Transcriptome analysis revealed 10,116 differentially expressed genes with a fourfold or greater change in expression (P-value less than 0.001) in WP vs. ZS11 petals, including 1,209 genes that were differentially expressed at four different stages and 20 genes in the carotenoid metabolism pathway. BnNCED4b, encoding a protein involved in carotenoid degradation, was expressed at abnormally high levels in WP petals, suggesting it might play a key role in white petal formation. The results of qRT-PCR were consistent with the transcriptome data. The results of this study provide important insights into the molecular mechanisms of the carotenoid metabolic pathway in rapeseed petals, and the candidate genes identified in this study provide a resource for the creation of new B. napus germplasms with different petal colors.

Abstract Background Sainfoin (Onobrychis viciifolia Scop) is not only a high-quality legume forage, but also a nectar-producing plant. Therefore, the flower color of sainfoin is an important agronomic trait, but the factors affecting its flower phenotype are still unclear. To gain insights into the regulatory networks associated with metabolic pathways of coloration compounds (flavonoids or anthocyanins) and identify the key genes, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the phenotype, metabolome and transcriptome of WF and AF of sainfoin. Results Delphinidin, petunidin and malvidin derivatives were the main anthocyanin compounds in the AF of sainfoin. These substances were not detected in the WF of sainfoin. The transcriptomes of WF and AF in sainfoin at the S1 and S3 stages were obtained using the Illumina HiSeq4000 platform. Overall, 10,166 (4273 upregulated and 5893 downregulated) and 15,334 (8174 upregulated and 7160 downregulated) DEGs were identified in flowers at S1 and S3 stages, respectively (WF-VS-AF). KEGG pathway annotations showed that 6396 unigenes were annotated to 120 pathways and contained 866 DEGs at S1 stages, and 6396 unigenes were annotated to 131 pathways and included 1546 DEGs at the S3 stage. Nine DEGs belonging to the “flavonoid biosynthesis”and “phenylpropanoid biosynthesis” pathways involved in flower color formation were identified and verified by RT-qPCR analyses. Among these DEGs, 4CL3, FLS, ANS, CHS, DFR and CHI2 exhibited downregulated expression, and F3H exhibited upregulated expression in the WF compared to the AF, resulting in a decrease in anthocyanin synthesis and the formation of WF in sainfoin. Conclusions This study is the first to use transcriptome technology to study the mechanism of white flower formation in sainfoin. Our transcriptome data will be a great enrichment of the genetic information for sainfoin. In addition, the data presented herein will provide valuable molecular information for genetic breeding and provide insight into the future study of flower color polymorphisms in sainfoin.

Abstract Sustainable economic growth and identifying factors affecting it are among the important issues which have always received attention from researchers of different countries. Accordingly, one of the factors affecting economic growth, which has received attention from researchers in the developed countries over recent years, is the issue of environmental technologies that enter the economic cycle of other countries after being patented through technology transfer. The current research investigated the role of the environment-related patents and the effects of the patented technological innovations compatible with climate change mitigation on the economic growth and development in the Middle East countries within a specific time period. The required data were gathered from the valid global databases, including Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and World Bank and have been analyzed using multi-linear regression methods and econometric models with Eviews 10 software. The obtained results with 95% confidence level show that the environmental patents (β = 0.02) and environment management (β = 0.04) and technologies related to the climate change mitigation (β = 0.02) have a significant positive impact on the sustainable economic development and growth rate in the studied countries. Such a study helps innovators and policymakers in policy decisions related to sustainable development programs from the perspective of environmentally friendly technologies by demonstrating the role of patents in three important environmental areas, namely environmental management, water-related adaptation and climate change mitigation, as one of the factors influencing sustainable economic growth.

This research paper is focused on analyzing situation of economic development in Ho Chi Minh City after nearly 30 years implementing economic reform policies in Vietnam to specify the position and role of Ho Chi Minh City economy in comparison with the whole nation’s. In this research, we applied qualitative method with data description and economic development indicators comparison. Data are secondary data which were obtained from Statistic Yearbooks of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in periods 1990/2000/2005-2013. Results indicate that the Ho Chi Minh City economy remains the Vietnam’s largest which accounts for more than 20% GDP and a third of the national budget. The annual economic growth and average income per capita are 2-3% and two times higher than those of Vietnam respectively. The poverty rate is also the lowest in the country. Factors that positively affect the Ho Chi Minh City economic growth are capital and labor as reflected by higher productivity and efficiency (specifically Ho Chi Minh City’s ICOR is 1.5-1.78 times lower than Vietnam’s and laborproductivity is two times higher than that of Vietnam) and the greater contribution of the capital and labor factors to the economic growth. However, there are signals that Ho Chi Minh City economic growth is unsustainable, including (1) slower export volume and FDI; (2) reduced weight of industry sector, especially the slow growth of key high-technology disciplines; (3) the downgrading of the urban environment quality which reduces the green GDP growth; and (4) the gradual decrease of the total factor productivity (TFP) and its very small contribution to the Ho Chi Minh City economic growth. Based on the results, this paper suggests some solutions to a sustainable development for Ho Chi Minh City in the next period.

Objectives: The relationship between finance and economic growth has always been one of the hot issues in theoretical research and empirical analysis. As one of the important factors affecting economic growth, finance has long been recognized by the majority of scholars. Methods: In the context of the development of Internet e-commerce, empirical research on the relationship between China’s financial development and economic growth is conducted based on the maximum traffic algorithm. Results: Based on this, this paper constructs the Probit and Logistic binary discrete selection model for economic growth, and the discrete particle swarm algorithm is used to solve the sequence of influencing factors, estimating the model parameters, and the degree of influence of each influencing factor is calculated. Conclusion: The degree of concurrent employment is a decisive factor in economic growth.

Fiscal policies are changing due to the conditions required by the COVID-19 pandemic towards the new world order. Under these circumstances, developed countries use their resources for their citizens, and international financial institutions step in for underdeveloped and developing countries with insufficient public resources of their own or are in debt and offer new credit opportunities to these countries. This study aims to analyze how public expenditures, one of the important policies in economic growth and development, will change during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. In light of the findings obtained from the literature review, the economic effects of the pandemic are explained by making a descriptive analysis of secondary data at the levels of country groups classified according to development and income level. Secondly, factors affecting the changes in the public expenditure of countries due to the pandemic were examined, and evaluations are made on the public expenditures in fiscal policies that will ensure the economic recovery and growth of countries after the pandemic.

This study aims to find the influential factors of adopting International Accounting Standards (IAS) in the banking industries of Bangladesh. This study is based on two-stage least-squares method for 561 unbalanced panel observations of 32 commercial banks in Bangladesh over the period from 2000 to 2018. To analyze the study, it uses macroeconomic and bank-level variables in which probability of IAS adoption, economic growth, and profitability are the main variables. The findings of the study indicate that economic growth has a significant relationship with IAS adoption in the banking industries of Bangladesh, as well as all variables relating to profitability affect IAS adoption excluding return on equity (ROE). SIZE and CAR do not influence IAS adoption from the bank-level variables, liquidity has a significant and negative relationship with IAS adoption and assets growth and total loan and advances (TLAs) have a significant impact on the IAS in banking industries of Bangladesh. The result of the study will be supportive to deliver precious information and unfathomable understanding as regards IAS and factors influencing IAS in banking sector. This is worthwhile to the researchers, students, and policy-makers while making critical decision about the adoption and implementation of IAS. Based on this study, it was suggested among others that adoption of IAS should to be a dynamic part of bank’s strategy because it upturns quality of reporting by increasing transparency, comparability, and acceptability.
