National food consumption surveys are crucial for monitoring the nutritional status of individuals, defining nutrition policies, estimating dietary exposure, and assessing the environmental impact of the diet. The methods for conducting them are time and resource-consuming, so they are usually carried out after extended periods of time, which does not allow for timely monitoring of any changes in the population’s dietary patterns. This study aims to compare the results of nutrition-related mobile apps that are most popular in Italy, with data obtained with the dietary software Foodsoft 1.0, which was recently used in the Italian national dietary survey IV SCAI. The apps considered in this study were selected according to criteria, such as popularity (downloads > 10,000); Italian language; input characteristics (daily dietary recording ability); output features (calculation of energy and macronutrients associated with consumption), etc. 415 apps in Google Play and 226 in the iTunes Store were examined, then the following five apps were selected: YAZIO, Lifesum, Oreegano, Macro and Fitatu. Twenty 24-hour recalls were extracted from the IV SCAI database and inputted into the apps. Energy and macronutrient intake data were compared with Foodsoft 1.0 output. Good agreement was found between the selected apps and Foodsoft 1.0 (high correlation index), and no significant differences were found in the mean values of energy and macronutrients, except for fat intakes. In conclusion, the selected apps could be a suitable tool for assessing dietary intake.

BACKGROUND In Iran, around 0.05 of population suffer from epilepsy. Poorer health outcomes stem from limited health literacy. The use of mHealth, especially for educating patients in terms of self-care can be very effective. But the important thing is the content that is presented by apps, especially when unreliable or biased information can negatively affect the patient-doctor relationship, causing anxiety or stress. Also, usability of mHealth apps and their impact on behavior change are the other important issues that should be considered. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to assess the quality of Persian language epilepsy-related mobile applications in terms of functionality and quality with a focus on content. METHODS The Persian equivalent of the keywords 'epilepsy' and 'seizure' were searched in the Google Play, Cafe Bazaar and IranApps app stores and the Persian language applications about epilepsy were extracted. These apps were evaluated by two trained reviewers independently using the uMARS scale and DISCERN instrument. Also apps’ prices and the number of installations were assessed. RESULTS A total of 659 applications were retrieved, 78 of which were epilepsy-related. After exclusion of non-Persian language and duplicate apps, there remained 11 relevant apps. The overall mean uMARS score was 2.8 out of 5 while six out of 11 apps (54%) scored higher than 3. The mean figures for the section-specific scores were as follows: engagement 2.2, functionality 4.0, aesthetics 3.3, and information 2.3. The overall DISCERN scores ranged from 26 to 40 out of 80, while the mean score was 34.5. The mean score of reliability was 18.5. CONCLUSIONS This study showed that the overall information quality of the epilepsy apps is poor. The most important missing characteristics of these apps include lack of functionalities for self-care, missing entry date, lack of details about additional sources and inexistence of the risks/benefits of each treatment. The findings suggest that more efforts should be made to develop evidence-based epilepsy-related apps to cover broader domains of self-care and behavioral change techniques.

Abstract In a collaborative study 6 samples of vitamin D3 resins were analyzed chemically by 9 laboratories and tested biologically by 3 laboratories to determine whether there exists a discrepancy between chemical and biological methods of measuring potency of these materials. The chemical methods employed saponification with and without subsequent maleic anhydride treatment. The biological method was the AOAC official final action rat assay, 39.149–39.162. The results showed good agreement between laboratories in the chemical analysis and relatively poor agreement in the biological tests. However, based upon the mean values as reported by the different laboratories, the chemical method employing saponification alone consistently overestimated biopotency, whereas the chemical method including maleic anhydride treatment gave results which averaged much closer to the mean biopotency values. There was no evidence that maleic anhydride treatment reduced values significantly below biopotency values.

AbstractRepeated measurements of density profiles and surface elevation along a 515 km traverse of the Greenland ice sheet are used to determine elevation change rates and the error in determining mass-balance trends from these rates which arises from short-term fluctuations in mass input, compaction and surface density. Mean values of this error, averaged over 100 km sections of the traverse, decrease with time from the start of observations in 2004, with a half-time of ∼4 years. After 7 years the mean error is less than the ice equivalent mass imbalance.

Sasak Tribe possesses unique local wisdom which is potential to be utilized in term of improving students' care attitudes toward the environment. This study aimed at profiling students' evironmental attitudes who were taught using Sasak Tribe local wisdom-integrated model. This descriptive research was designed with a one-shot case study. The sample used in this study was 140 VII graders chosen using random sampling technique. The sample comprised of 3 classes of SMPN 2 Gunung Sari and 3 classes of SMPN 3 Lingsar placed in West Nusa Tenggara-Indonesia. The data analysis technique used was descriptive statistics in term of central tendency. The measured indicators were environmental awareness (EA), developing empathy (DE), and effect handling (EH). The results showed that the students live in suburb area tended to have better environmental care attitudes, in which the mean values were 86.66 (EA), 75.69 (DE), and 42.66 (EH) compared to those who live in urban area in which the mean values were 68.73 (EA), 57.07 (DE), and 30.62 (EH). Based on this findings, further evaluation in several aspects should be done.

The subject of the work is to develop probabilistic models defining the water absorption of concretes made ​​with the use of recycled aggregate (RCA). For the study 16 series of concrete mixtures were made with a 50 mass% share of recycled aggregate in the whole amount of coarse aggregate. The analysis of test results aimed at formulating a relationship between water absorption value and selected parameters of the composition of concretes. The objective was to find a model giving the best fit between calculated values and test results. Formulated models were then used in probabilistic modeling absorption using a Monte Carlo simulation. The results indicate a good agreement of the mean values of water absorption and possibility of good fitting of the standard deviation if an additional summand is introduced into the model.

AbstractAccurate measurement of knee range of motion (ROM) is critical to predict the outcomes of knee surgery and prognosis. We investigated the reliability of knee ROM measurements by goniometer compared with robotic system. Fifty-three patients with medial osteoarthritis who were planning to undergo unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) with robotic UKA were prospectively enrolled. During the operation, knee ROM measurement was performed in both flexion and extension before and after insertion of the implant using both a goniometer and robotic system. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of extension measured by the goniometer and robotic system showed good agreement; however, the ICC of flexion did not show good agreement. During passive flexion, the mean values measured before insertion of the implant were significantly lower by goniometer (134.6 ± 6.43) than by robot (145.4 ± 6.80; p = 0.017); likewise, the mean values after insertion of the implant were significantly lower by goniometer (138.6 ± 6.07) than by robotic system (147.0 ± 6.60; p = 0.045). A goniometer can underestimate knee ROM measurements compared with robotic system, especially in flexion. Orthopaedic surgeons should be cautious when measuring the flexion angle with a goniometer.

Abstract A collaborative study to compare the Dumas and Kjeldahl methods for nitrogen determination in agricultural feed materials has been completed. The Dumas method used the Nitrogen Analyzer II, Coleman Model 29A. The mean values of the six feed materials studied showed good agreement between the two methods. Standard deviation ranged from ±0.18 to ±0.39 for the Dumas method and from ±0.06 to ±0.40 for the Kjeldahl method. For two organic standard materials studied, the Dumas method gave better accuracy. Standard deviation for both methods on these organic standards was poorer than for the feed materials, and further study is recommended.

The presented work is aimed at determining thermal diffusivity, thermal conductivity and heat capacity coefficients of silica quartz bentonite foundry sand. The values of the above thermo-physical properties were determined for temperature range of about 30 - 450 °C using theCasting measuring method[1-.The results obtained during the examinations presented in the paper can be useful when formulating boundary conditions in numerical models of heat and mass transfer in the system: casting mould ambient. TheCasting methodallows preserving real conditions during the experiment, i.e. contact of the mass with liquid metal and solidifying casting, and the obtained results are in a good agreement with the mean values available in literature. From the obtained results it follows that examinations should be also focused onthermo-physical properties vs. mass densitydependency.

We present high-resolution chemical abundance results of 15 metal-poor dwarf stars in the solar neighborhood. Our metallicity measurements are in a good agreement with previous estimates. The stars under investigation have metallicities ranging from -1.6 to -2.8 with the mean value of [Fe/H] = -2.28. The mean values of elemental abundances are [O/Fe] = 0.73, [Na/Fe] = -0.16, [Ca/Fe] = 0.28, and [Ti/Fe] = 0.60. Our results are found to be consistent with those of giant metal-poor stars.

Abstract Background The gap between treatment need and treatment availability is particularly wide for individuals seeking Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mobile apps based on DBT may be useful in increasing access to care and augmenting in-person DBT. This review examines DBT based apps, with a specific focus on content quality and usability. Methods All apps referring to DBT were identified in Google Play and iOS app stores and were systematically reviewed for app content and quality. The Mobile App Rating Scale (MARS) was used to evaluate app usability and engagement. Results A total of 21 free to download apps were identified. The majority of apps (71%) included a component of skills training, five apps included a diary card feature. Most (76.19%) apps were designed to function without help from a therapist. The average user “star” rating was 4.39 out of 5. The mean overall MARS score was 3.41, with a range of 2.15 to 4.59, and 71.43% were considered minimally ‘acceptable,’ as defined by a score of 3 or higher. The average star rating was correlated with the total MARS score (r = .51, p = .02). Estimates of app usage differed substantially between popular and unpopular apps, with the three most popular apps accounting for 89.3% of monthly active users. Conclusions While the present study identified many usable and engaging apps in app stores designed based on DBT, there are limited apps for clinicians. DBT based mobile apps should be carefully developed and clinically evaluated.
