No-show is a thorny issue within the social scope. It not only affects the sustainability of service system operation but also causes heavy irretrievable losses. To maintain and develop the sustainability of service, this paper adopts bibliometric technology to reflect the current status and future prospects about no-show research. And we strive to explore and summarize appointment scheduling methods for no-show problems. The bibliometric analysis was carried out from various aspects including research areas, countries/regions, institutions, journals, authors and author keywords based on papers harvested from Web of Science Core Collection database. The total 1197 papers show that the United States is in a leading position in this field, followed by England and Canada. University of London is the most productive institution with the highest total citations and H-Index. BMC Health Services Research ranks first as the most productive journal, followed by European Journal of Operational Research and Production and Operations Management. Through the analysis of hot articles, we can conclude that how to reduce the impact of no-shows on the sustainability of service systems has become the main research direction. In addition to appointment scheduling, other effective methods are also mentioned. Further study on these methods will be a major research direction in the future.

Abstract Background: The number of research publications on health policy and services has been strikingly increasing. This study aimed to reveal the current status and trends of global research on health policy and services and provide insights for health policy and services research. Methods: Based on the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) database, research on health policy and services published between 1999 and 2018 were identified. The published journals, temporal trends, collaboration between countries/territories and research institutions, and hotspots in health policy and services’ research were analyzed using bibliometric analysis. Results: The number of health policy and services publications has been continuously increasing since 1999, especially after 2008. Health Affairs, Medical Care, and Health Services Research were the most active journals in this field. Scholars from the United States (US), the United Kingdom (UK) and Canada have published more related publications than other countries. Further, The US produced the largest number of independent and collaborative articles, and it took a central position in the collaboration network and had the greatest number of prolific institutions. Harvard University was the largest contributor of single-institution and collaborative publications and occupied a key position in collaborative networks. A keywords analysis demonstrated that medicare, quality of care, and primary care have always been researched hotspots in this field. The rankings of implementation, patient safety, and disparities have risen the most, suggesting a new research trend in the field since the 21st century. Conclusions: Our study identified the temporal and spatial characteristics, academic collaborations, and hotspots in scientific research output in the area of health policy and services. It can provide insights for health policy and services research and global health governance.

The aims of this paper are to identify existing research on renewable energy; identify the most influential publications, authors, organizations to understand the research areas. The paper is centered on the bibliometric analysis based on the Web of Science database for the key phrase’ renewable energy’ in the article title until 2020. We analyzed the publications about renewable energy by years, by research areas, by geography, by research organizations and research sponsors, by journals, by citations of journals, authors, publications, co-occurrence by keywords. Analysis of the most cited publications and authors, analysis of cooccurrence by keywords was performed using VOSviewer. We performed hierarchical cluster analysis, and clusters were selected using VOSviewer. We found 17805 scientific publications on renewable energy published in scientific journals (51.7% of publications were published during 2016-2020). The most popular research areas are energy fuels, engineering, science technology, environmental sciences, ecology, and business economics. The majority of papers was published by the scientists from the United States, China, and India. In addition, we identified six main research clusters. They are related to an optimizer, renewable energy, biomass, co2 emissions, model, desalination. Conclusions: This analysis confirmed the author’s hypothesis about the definition of new scientific horizons of renewable energy research. Our results can help scientists interested in renewable energy looking for research funding and research project risks based on renewable energy.

Purpose: This work aimed to identify and analyze the most frequently cited articles in retinal detachment (RD). Methods: Institute for Scientific Information’s Web of Science index (Thomas Scientific) was used to identify the top 100 most cited articles on RD between 1900 and 2019. Data from the top 100 most cited articles that met inclusion criteria were analyzed based on title, citation frequency, authorship, institution, journal, year of publication, and country of origin. Results: The top 100 articles in RD were cited 88 to 480 times. Steven K. Fisher was the most cited individual, with the University of California system being the most cited organization. Sixty-four percent of the top 100 articles originated from the United States and were published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology, and Archives of Ophthalmology at frequencies of 36%, 24%, and 11%, respectively. The top funding agencies included the US Department of Health and Human Services, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Eye Institute at 29%, 28%, and 27%, respectively. The top-cited article, which assessed the role of the retinal pigment epithelium by histologic and electron microscopic analysis of RDs in eyes of owl monkeys, was by Machemer and Laqua in the American Journal of Ophthalmology. Conclusions: This bibliometric analysis provides researchers and clinicians with a detailed overview of the most cited manuscripts in RD. Such analyses may guide researchers and funding agencies on important research areas in the field.

Abstract Racial and ethnic disparities are endemic to the United States and are only beginning to attract the attention of researchers. With an increasingly diverse population, focused and tailored medicine to provide more equitable care is needed. For surgical trauma populations, this topic is a small but expanding field and still rarely mentioned in burn medicine. Disparities in prevention, treatment, and recovery outcomes between different racial and ethnic minorities who are burned are rarely discussed. The purpose of this study is to determine the current status of identified disparities of care in the burn population literature and areas of future research. A systematic review was conducted of literature utilizing PubMed for articles published between 2000-2020. Searches were used to identify articles that crossed the burn term (burn patient OR burn recovery OR burn survivor OR burn care) and a race/ethnicity and insurance status-related term (race/ethnicity OR African-American OR Black OR Asian OR Hispanic OR Latino OR Native American OR Indigenous OR Mixed race OR 2 or more races OR socioeconomic status OR insurance status). Inclusion criteria were English studies in the US that discussed disparities in burn injury outcomes or risk factors associated with race/ethnicity. 1,169 papers were populated, 55 were reviewed, and 36 articles met inclusion criteria. Most studies showed minorities had poorer inpatient and outpatient outcomes. While this is a concerning trend, there is a paucity of literature in this field and more research is needed to create culturally-tailored medical care and address the needs of disadvantaged burn survivors.

AbstractQuantum computing holds the potential to deliver great economic prosperity to the European Union (EU). However, the creation of successful business in the field is challenging owing to the required extensive investments into postdoctoral-level workforce and sophisticated infrastructure without an existing market that can financially support these operations.This commentary paper reviews the recent efforts taken in the EU to foster the quantum-computing ecosystem together with its current status. Importantly, we propose concrete actions for the EU to take to enable future growth of this field towards the desired goals. In particular, we suggest ways to enable the creation of EU-based quantum-computing unicorns which may act as key crystallization points of quantum technology and its commercialization. These unicorns may provide stability to the otherwise scattered ecosystem, thus pushing forward global policies enabling the global spread of EU innovations and technologies.The unicorns may act as a conduit, through which the EU-based quantum ecosystem can stand out from similar ecosystems based in Asia and the United States. Such strong companies are required because of the level of investment currently required in the marketplace. This paper suggests methodologies and best practices that can enhance the probability of the creation of the unicorns.Furthermore, we explore future scenarios, in which the unicorns can operate from the EU and to support the EU quantum ecosystem. This exploration is conducted focusing on the steps to be taken and on the impact the companies may have in our opinion.

Abstract An increase in the global mean sea is predicted during the 21st century as a consequence of global average temperature projections. In addition, changes in the strength of atmospheric cyclonic storms may alter the development of storm surges, exacerbating the risks to coastal communities. Based on the fact that the interest and range of papers are growing on this topic, this study aims to present the global scientific production status of studies that have correlated climate change and the impact of storm surges on the coastal zone leading to erosion and flooding (inundation) via a bibliometric analysis. We analyzed 429 papers published in journals between 1991 and February 2021 from the Scopus database. Through the VOSviewer and Bibliometrix R package, we describe the most relevant countries, affiliations, journals, authors, and keywords. Our results demonstrate that there has been an exponential growth in the research topic, and that authors from the United States and the United Kingdom are the most prolific. Among the 1454 authors found, 10 researchers published at least 5 papers on the topic and obtained at least 453 citations in the period. The most represented journals were the Journal of Coastal Research, Climatic Change, and Natural Hazards. We also found, and discuss, the lack of standardization in the choice of keywords, of which climate change, storm surge, and sea level rise are the most frequent. Finally, we have written a guide to facilitate the authors' bibliographic review.

Agriculture has been consistently marked as one of the deadliest industries by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). While this statistic is widely used in promoting agricultural safety and health, it does not paint a complete picture on the current status of agricultural safety and the advances that have been made in the last century. For example, even with a stagnant rate of injury, the BLS has reported that fatal incidents decreased from a high of 855 incidents in 1993 to a low of 500 incidents in 2013. The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact that agricultural engineering developments had on reducing fatal injuries. Agricultural engineering developments are defined as any agricultural improvement that results in a direct reduction in the amount of labor needed. This study uses existing federal agricultural statistical, injury and demographic data to calculate the impact that engineering, in contrast to yield improvements and safety enhancements, contributed to a reduction in the number of fatal incidents. The study found that engineering developments could have contributed to the reduction in the number of fatal injuries by about 170 incidents from 1992 to 2015. This represents 63% of the total reduction in the number of fatal injuries. In conclusion, agricultural engineering developments play a substantial role in reducing the number of fatal incidents by removing and reducing labor exposure to hazardous environments.

As an environmentally-friendly aquaculture and planting system, aquaponics has attracted attention in various fields, such as fisheries, agriculture, and ecology. The existing review qualitatively described the development and challenges of aquaponics but lacked data support. This study selected 513 related documents (2000–2019) in the Web of Science database (WOS) to mine and quantitatively analyze its text data. The keyword co-occurrence network shows that the current aquaponics research mainly focuses on the system components, wastewater treatment, nutrient management, and system production. Research areas reflect obvious regional characteristics. China, the United States and Europe are dedicated to the application of new technologies, the optimization of system production, and the exploration of multiple roles. At present, the aquaponics development is facing many pressures from management and market. Future research requires more in-depth research in the system construction, nutrient management, and microbial community structure to provide a theoretical basis. Moreover, the identity construction within the conceptual framework of green infrastructure is a research direction worth exploring to solve low social recognition for aquaponics.

Clavulanic acid (CA), a potent inhibitor of the β-lactam, ase enzyme, is frequently co-formulated with a broad spectrum of antibiotics to treat infections caused by β-lactamase-producing pathogens. In order to evaluate the impact and the progress of CA studies in the last four decades, a bibliometric analysis of the global scientific production of CA was carried out. A total of 39,758 records in the field of CA were indexed in the Scopus database for a 43-year period of study (1975–2017). The results indicated that CA studies have grown, showing three phases (1975–1999, 2000–2003 and 2004–2017) based on records of publications; the results showed a sigmoidal profile. Medicine was the main subject area for CA studies, whereas biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology were areas of research for CA production by Streptomyces clavuligerus (S. clavuligerus). Nevertheless, chemical engineering (as a subject area) had the highest increase in the percentage of publications related to CA production by S. clavuligerus. The United States, France, the United Kingdom, Spain and Brazil were the leading countries in the scientific production of studies on both CA and CA related to S. clavuligerus. This analysis allowed the identification of the area of knowledge with the highest impact on CA studies, the top researchers and their geographic distribution, and also helped to highlight the existence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria as an emergent area in CA research.

Background: The prevalence of cancer has increased over time worldwide. Nevertheless, the number of deaths has been reduced during the past 2 decades. Thus, one-third of the cancer patients are users of complementary and alternative therapies, looking for other types of interventions. The main aim of the present study is to understand the current status of the research in integrative and complementary oncology. Three different aspects were analyzed: production trends, country collaboration, and leading research topics. Methods: The dataset was obtained from the documents indexed under the Integrative and Complementary Medicine category of the Web of Science database from 1976 to 2017. VOSviewer and SciMAT software were employed to perform the bibliometric analysis. Results: The Journal of Ethnopharmacology, China Medical University and the People’s Republic of China are the leading producers in the field. Regarding the collaboration, the United States and China present a close connection. The scientific community is focused on the following topics: apoptosis, breast cancer, oxidative stress, chemotherapy, and nuclear factor-Kappa-B (NF-Kappa-B). Conclusions: The present article shows potentially important information that allows understanding of the past, present, and future of research in integrative and complementary oncology. It is a useful evidence-based framework on which to base future research actions and academic directions.
