This study investigates current research trends in co-production studies and discusses conceptual approaches. The conceptual paper contains studies on co-production in the field of public administration. This study identifies significant gaps in the field of study by systematically examining 32 co-production research works. The study’s contributions include (1) defining two common characteristics of co-production, (2) classifying three forms of co-production by end-users, and (3) discovering that the aims and performance of co-production are more effective for service providers when the strategy is citizen-centric. Future research should (1) concentrate on the reasons for co-production failures or successes, (2) identify additional barriers to co-production in service production, (3) investigate influences on service providers as well as structural impacts on the co-production process, and (4) provide practical assessments of co-production research.

The purpose of this study is to explore conceptual approaches in co-production studies and to examine current research trends of the study. The conceptual paper includes research articles related to co-production in public administration field. By thoroughly scrutinizing 32 research works of co-production, this study highlights major loopholes in the field of the study. The contributions of the study are: (1) identifying two common characteristics of co-production, (2) categorising three types of co-producing by end-users, and (3) finding that goals and success of co-production are more beneficial for service providers though its initial approach is citizen-centric approach. We suggest that future studies should be (1) to focus on reasons for co-production failures or success, (2) to discover further hindrances for co-production in service production, (3) to examine influencing factors on service providers as well as institutional impacts on co-production process, and (4) to include practical assessment in co-production study.

Conducting polymers (CPs) have been at the center of research owing to their metal-like electrochemical properties and polymer-like dispersion nature. CPs and their composites serve as ideal functional materials for diversified biomedical applications like drug delivery, tissue engineering, and diagnostics. There have also been numerous biosensing platforms based on polyaniline (PANI), polypyrrole (PPY), polythiophene (PTP), and their composites. Based on their unique properties and extensive use in biosensing matrices, updated information on novel CPs and their role is appealing. This review focuses on the properties and performance of biosensing matrices based on CPs reported in the last three years. The salient features of CPs like PANI, PPY, PTP, and their composites with nanoparticles, carbon materials, etc. are outlined along with respective examples. A description of mediator conjugated biosensor designs and enzymeless CPs based glucose sensing has also been included. The future research trends with required improvements to improve the analytical performance of CP-biosensing devices have also been addressed.

Competitiveness has been a serious problem for Indonesia logistics service providers (LSP) particularly in the context of ASEAN Economic Community in 2015. Conceptually, some previous researches showed that the competitiveness could be improved through innovative capabilities and performance improvement. Nevertheless, these researches related only two of the three variables, namely between innovative capabilities and performance, innovative capabilities and competitiveness, and performance and competitiveness. These researches did not explain that the performance can be a mediator (intervening) variable for relationship between innovative capabilities and competitiveness (relationships of three variables). Based on the gap, this research aimed to develop the conceptual model, hypothesis and its dimensions for the future research. By using explanatory research design, a conceptual model of competitiveness improvement, hypothesis, and its dimensions were developed to be verified in the future research. The dimensions of the three variables included financial strength, customer value, technology/skills, shareholder value (competitiveness); profitability and growth (performance); sensing capability, combination capability, and relational capability (innovative capabilities).

This chapter presents the implications of the research discussed in this book and outlines future research trends in the area of consumer adoption and usage of broadband. The findings of the studies detailed in this book generate a number of implications that may be relevant to policy makers, Internet service providers (ISPs), and other relevant stakeholders for increasing consumers’ adoption of broadband. The chapter begins by a discussion concerning the implications of this research for the government, followed by the implications for the Internet/broadband service providers and, ultimately, the implications for content providers and emerging electronic services. Finally, a discussion on the future trends in the area of broadband adoption and diffusion is provided.

Wearable robots are an emerging form of technology that allow organizations to combine the strength, precision, and performance of machines with the flexibility, intelligence, and problem-solving abilities of human wearers. Active exoskeletons are a type of wearable robot that gives wearers the ability to effortlessly lift up to 200 lbs., as well as perform other types of physically demanding tasks that would be too strenuous for most humans. Synchronization between exoskeleton suits and wearers is one of the most challenging requirements to operate these technologies effectively. In this conceptual paper, we extend interpersonal adaption theory (IAT) to the exoskeleton context and explicate (a) the antecedents that are most likely to shape synchrony in human-exoskeleton interactions, (b) automatic and strategic synchrony as adaptive behaviors in human-exoskeleton interactions, and (c) outcome variables that are especially important in these processes. Lastly, we offer a discussion of key methodological challenges for measuring synchrony in human-exoskeleton interactions and offer a future research agenda for this important area.

Purpose – Management of customer participation (CP) in service production and delivery is of critical concern for service managers, as CP can result in various positive but also negative outcomes. However, an integrated understanding on how service providers can manage CP is still missing. The purpose of this paper is to gather and synthesize the extant knowledge on the constituents of CP management into a comprehensive framework, and to offer an extensive agenda for future research. Design/methodology/approach – A systematic literature review of existing research is conducted. A total of 181 journal articles are analyzed in five steps: attaining basic understanding, coding, categorization, comparison, and further analysis. Findings – The authors provide identification and categorizations of the customer inputs, their antecedents, the management approaches, and the outcomes of CP. To date, CP management has been addressed from three distinct perspectives: human resource management that treats customers as partial employees; operations management that focusses on customer functioning during the service process; and marketing that highlights the roles and value outcomes for customers. Research limitations/implications – The authors call for further research that addresses the relationships between the antecedents, customer inputs, management approaches, and outcomes of CP, and argue for extension of contextual diversity. The detailed research agenda provided is helpful for interested researchers. Practical implications – The study offers managerial insights on how the degree and quality of CP can be improved by applying the various management methods examined in academic research. Originality/value – As the first comprehensive review on this topic, this paper brings together the dispersed knowledge on CP, integrates it into a comprehensive framework of CP management, and paves the way for future focussed research.

This conceptual paper contributes to the literature by showing the need to understand artificialintelligence (AI) in policing outside the task-dependent environment of today. We examine AI in policing by outlining its potential opportunities and challenges in exploration for today’s policing tasks and beyond. Based on these findings, we reflect upon Holmqvist’s prior theorisation of the dynamics of organizational ambidexterity (i.e., exploitation and exploration). The paper offers future research avenues for public administration and general management researchers interested in AI.

This chapter examines current theorizing and research on interorganizational network change, and considers its antecedents, processes, outcomes, and management. We perform a systematic review of this literature across several disciplines, including communication, management, organization studies, public administration, and technology studies. Combining the frameworks laid out by Kilduff and Tsai (2003) and Van de Ven and Poole (1995), we demonstrate that the process of goal-directed and serendipitous network change operates using different mechanisms. We highlight the dominant theories and research trends for both types of networks, then we conclude the chapter with a critique and offer four prescriptions for future research.

Also, an effort was made to identify the strengths and weaknesses of library service quality based on their perception of library services. The researchers have used LibQUAL+®, a popular tool that libraries use to assess the perception of library service quality over the years. Undergraduates and postgraduate’s students studying in one of the premier private hotel management institutes in India participated in </span><span>this study. The findings of the study suggest that library service providers need to understand the needs of students </span><span>and should have the inclination to help students in making the library a gateway for study, learning and research. The future research may include faculty members’ perception of importance and performance of library service quality. This type of survey can be repeated at regular intervals to distinguish the varying needs of library users. </span></p></div></div></div>

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to carry out the systematic literature review, bibliometric analysis and content analysis of extant literature of service supply chain (SSC).Design/methodology/approachSystematic literature review (SLR) technique was used for identifying the research papers. In the first step after reading titles, abstracts and keywords and, full-length articles wherever required, papers not related to SSC were removed. In second steps papers were read more critically and papers not related to SSC were removed. Finally on 502 papers bibliometric and content analysis was further carried out. Content analysis was based on the clusters formed by bibliographic coupling. Further, content analysis of the recent articles revealed the current research trends and research gaps.FindingsThis paper identified the six existing research diversifications in SSC as (1) logistics SSC, (2) model, framework and conceptual papers, (3) third-party logistics service providers, (4) articles from various perspective, (5) measurement of quality and performance on services and (6) impact of adoption of technology, cooperation and branding on logistics service providers. Further, six future research directions are also provided.Practical implicationsThis research provides a clear view of the progression of publication, research diversification, research themes of six identified clusters, sub-themes of clusters and content analysis of each cluster. Content analysis of recent articles reveals the current research trend and future research directions.Originality/valueThis is a first of its kind of study which presents the diversification of research areas within SSC, bibliometric analysis, content analysis and provides actionable future research direction.
