Digital transformation is now impacting businesses in both the developed and developing worlds, and this chapter examines this phenomenon in the small business sector in Nigeria. Adopting an interpretivist philosophy, the methodology combines a survey of small business enterprises (SBEs) with in-depth case studies of three Nigerian companies. Ten critical influencing factors are identified, and a model (Engage-Deploy-Exploit-Transform – EDET) is developed and applied to the case studies to assess the status of digital transformation. The influencing factors provide a checklist for SBEs embarking on digital transformation projects, and the model can be used to assess progress and identify new opportunities for digital transformation at the business process level. The authors believe this to be a useful contribution to the growing literature in this field that can be used by both researchers and practitioners in similar developing-world contexts.

Purpose – the main goal of the current research was to provide a deep understanding of the concept of digital transformation, specifying its key elements/components/categories. Research methodology – an analysis of the textual information was performed, applying various techniques in the framework of the content analysis. Information database included 30 definitions of the term “digital transformation” and the related terms proposed by academicians and organizations. Findings – the analysis of the text segments of the investigated concept yielded three categories of digital transformation in business; 1) technologies, 2) processes and management, 3) people. Based on the research results, the conceptual model of digital transformation was created. Research limitations – the research was limited by the number of the analyzed definitions, as well as by the variety of methods applied. Practical implications – the research instrument for a survey among business sector representatives can be developed using the findings of the given study, in particular, for structuring the questionnaire’s blocks. Originality/Value – the current research provides a platform for further empirical investigation of the level of a company’s digital transformation

In the dynamic contemporary world, characterised by the ubiquitous presence of information and com-munication technologies, the role and tasks of higher education institutions and their links with the so-cial and economic environment keep changing. These institutions also undergo the process of digital transformation and actively respond to the needs of entrepreneurs. Blended learning – a solution which sees the value in building interpersonal relationships while taking advantage of e-learning tools – can significantly increase the availability of an institution’s educational offering for the business sector.

Background: The article presents the results of the study of digital transformation trends of economic relations between credit organizations and organizations of the business sector due to their significance for stable growth of Russian economy. Ongoing changes identified in this article as trends require thorough study in order to increase the efficiency of economic relations between credit organizations and organizations of the business sector. Research methods: survey, questioning, grouping, graphing, comparison, analysis, synthesis. Results of the study: 12 trends of the economic relations transformation between credit organizations and organizations of the business sector in context of digital economy were highlighted and survey was conducted among two groups of respondents – representatives of credit organizations and business entities. On the grounds of received results key trends were highlighted and comparative analysis of trends estimates of two groups of respondents was conducted. Discussion: summary of key trends was conducted, which allowed to highlight an important background for developing organizations of business sector – to connect Internet, in addition, advisability of monitoring credit organizations in terms of offering digital services and monitoring business sector in terms of increasing indicators of digital interaction was proved. Conclusion: a set of measures for increasing digitalization of economic relations between credit organizations and business sector was developed.

Digital transformation has led to changes in business models of traditional players in the existing markets. What is more, new entrants and new markets appeared, in particular platforms and multisided markets. The emergence and rapid development of platforms are caused primarily by the existence of so called indirect network externalities. Regarding to this, a question arises of whether the existing instruments of competition law enforcement and market analysis are still relevant when analyzing markets with digital platforms? This paper aims at discussing advantages and disadvantages of using various tools to define markets with platforms. In particular, we define the features of the SSNIP test when being applyed to markets with platforms. Furthermore, we analyze adjustment in tests for platform market definition in terms of possible type I and type II errors. All in all, it turns out that to reduce the likelihood of type I and type II errors while applying market definition technique to markets with platforms one should consider the type of platform analyzed: transaction platforms without pass-through and non-transaction matching platforms should be tackled as players in a multisided market, whereas non-transaction platforms should be analyzed as players in several interrelated markets. However, if the platform is allowed to adjust prices, there emerges additional challenge that the regulator and companies may manipulate the results of SSNIP test by applying different models of competition.
