The research focuses on the process of translation in its psycholinguistic, cognitive and semiotic aspects. While observing students at the Institute of Translation and Interpreting at the Department of Russian language at the University of Heidelberg the author of this study came up with the idea to describe the process of translation, which consists of some conscious cognitive processes, in order to apply these to the translators’ and interpretors’ training. The theoretical basis taken for the concept of polyvariety of translation is the postulate under which essentially the entirety of translation and interpreting (T&I) theory can be subsumed – Roman Jakobson’s eminent postulate of “equivalence in difference”. This postulate firstly states the relation between source and target, which is based on a difference, i.e. on an implicative relation in the semiotic sense, and secondly equivalence consists in a diversity of translation variants which are in a relationship of difference to the original, since the translator understands partly unconsciously and partly consciously; always selectively and purposefully; partly cognitively and partly intuitively; always subjectively, which permits the availability of multiple translations of one and the same text by different translators with comparable translation competence which in their totality establish the polyvariety of translation. Such complex attitude at the process of translation opens a new sight on the theory of translation, builds a bridge between the theory and practice of translation and can be successfully applied to the didactic purposes.

The article considers and analyzes various opinions on the category "forensic study of personality". From the point of view of the Russian language, the various meanings of the term "study" fully and in a multifaceted way reflect the activities of the investigator in the study of the person in the course of sufficient disclosure and investigation of crimes. It is concluded that forensic study of personality can be considered as a process, theory (doctrine) and part of criminalistics (educational discipline, special course). In this connection, the definition of the term "forensic study of personality" depends on understanding of its essence. Forensic study of personality as a process for the study of personality is associated with activity. Forensic study of the personality as a theory (doctrine) is associated with the objective laws that constitute the subject of criminalistics. Forensic study of the personality as a section of criminalistics (academic discipline, special course) is based on a theoretical basis, on the basis of which methods, approaches to studying personality are considered. The ultimate goal of forensic study of personality is solving the problems of disclosure and investigation of crimes. Author's definitions of the term "forensic study of personality" are proposed.

The topic of sustainable urban land use compared to the world theory and practice has almost not been elaborated by the professionals in Serbia. This paper's starting point is that it is important to analyze and apply this topic, not only for the master plan level but also for the more detailed levels of planning and for smaller spatial entities/complexes in the cities, focusing on the morphological implications of sustainable urban land use as the topic relevant from the architect/urban planner point of view. After the definition of the notion of sustainable urban land use and the theoretical basis has been defined in the introductory explications, followed by a brief review of that topic's presence in Serbia, the point of view has been explained - namely, focusing on one single aspect (morphology) followed by a review of relevant criteria of other aspects of sustainable urban land use (economical, ecological and social aspects). The conclusion derived by synthesis represents the recommendation for a possible practice/methodology for planner's approach to the sustainable urban land use from the viewpoint of the morphology aspect.

In its content, this article is focused on solving a number of problems. First, it represents the author's desire to clarify, from the point of view of a philosophical approach to the process of practice-oriented education at the university, the relationship of its components such as information, language and thinking; Secondly, it examines the methodology of the organization of practice-oriented education of students at the university, its content and structure; Thirdly, it is focused on identifying the factorial role of language and thinking in shaping students' skills and skills that enable them to confidently engage in practical activities. Through a consistent identification of the nature and essence of the declared phenomena, the author reveals the basic content of the mutual conditioning of all these processes, taking into account the newly emerging requirements for the education and education of students to practice.

Introduction. As a result of the Russian legal reform, a new legal system was formed; an important feature of which is the power of a lawyer to interpret various forms of national and international law implemented by the state. The scientific understanding of the interpretation of the law has significant gaps which make it difficult to apply in practice. Theoretical basis. Methods. The theoretical basis of the study was the work of Russian and foreign scientists on the interpretation of law. Research methods were as follows: systematic, historical, formally logical, comparative approaches, interpretation of legal and philosophical ideas. Results. The article presents the author’s opinions on problematic issues of the theory and practice of interpretation of law, which are the subject of constant attention of legal scholars, law-makers and law enforcement agencies. The author justifies the need to adopt a special law on normative legal acts, which should give a legal definition of “interpretation of law”, establish a procedure for the interpretation of law, fix the range of subjects of interpretation and other important scientific and applied issues. Discussion and Conclusion. The term “interpretation”, in modern legislation, is used to address the issue of official clarification and explanation of the content of norms and principles of international law employed in developing a multi-level system of forms of national and/or international law, which is then implemented by the state. Other interpretations of the law, referred to as doctrinal, ordinary, professional, etc, can be called a conditional interpretation of the law. Using scientific conclusions about the dialectical relationship of law with philosophy and sociology, history and politics, economics and ideology, etc, the author came to conclusion that there is a need to adopt a special law on the interpretation of law.

The article provides an overview of scientific research on the relationship of musicality and general intelligence. It is noted that the problem of the relationship between musicality, musical achievements and intelligence is interdisciplinary. It is significant for general and music psychology as well as for the theory and practice of music education. There is a shortage of empirical and theoretical works on this topic in the modern Russian-language scientific literature, and that is what determines the relevance of the overview presented. The article discusses the role of general intelligence in the formation of a musical professional and musical and educational achievements. There is a continuity in the development of scientific ideas and approaches from the beginning of the last century to modern research. Musical abilities are shown to be largely determined by the intellectual potential of the individual, which explains the association of musical abilities with academic performance and abilities in non-musical areas. Modern approaches view musicality as a polymorphic entity which is better described in terms of multidimensional musical behavior. The formation of a professional in the musical field makes the relationship between musicality and intelligence more complex; it begins to be mediated by a combination of factors, a significant place among which is shared intelligence.

The study aimed to identify the governance standards and requirements in private Palestinian universities in light of the requirements for accreditation, quality and Palestinian classification of universities from the point of view of their employees and the relationship of which to the level of performance. The study was conducted in the universities of Palestine and Gaza. For collecting data, a questionnaire was designed based on previous studies related to university governance, the issue of governance, its principles, obstacles and stages of implementation. The questionnaire consisted of (42) items, covering the standards of governance in light of the requirements of accreditation, quality and requirements of the Palestinian classification of universities. The study population included the majority of workers, where the questionnaire was distributed to a random sample of (182) individuals. The study concluded that there was a positive relationship between the independent variables (governance standards, accreditation and quality requirements, and the Palestinian university classification) and the dependent variable represented by the performance of private Palestinian universities. The study recommended the need to develop a comprehensive and clear plan, either at the level of the higher education sector or Palestinian universities to spread and strengthen the culture of governance of Palestinian universities and to expedite the issuance of a governance guide for private Palestinian universities. A governance committee, at the level of the higher education sector or at the university level, should also be formed to follow up the implementation of governance standards at the universities and to make private Palestinian universities work on raising the level of practicing Governance principles. Alfred Stillé (1813-1900), professor of the theory and practice of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania from 1864 to 1883, vividly described his experiences as a young intern in 1836 when he lived for six months in the children's asylum of the Philadelphia Almshouse. It was a very interesting field for me from a humanitarian as well as a medical point of view. A hundred or more children [Stillé was the only house officer] were sheltered there on their way to the early grave to which most of them were destined. Illegitimate and other outcasts formed the majority, and ophthalmia, that curse of children's asylums, made of them a blear-eyed, puny crowd, most pitiable to see. I soon became convinced of the causes that produced the crippling and mortality of these outcasts and waifs. I pointed out to the committee of the board how the disease was disseminated by the children washing in the same basins and using the same towels, and how it was maintained by their having no shaded placed for exercise in the open air, and also by the insufficient food permitted them; for if the soup which they received one day was nutritious, the meat of which the soup had been made, and which formed their dinner on the following day, must necessarily be nearly devoid of nutriment. But of course, the committee on the children's asylum and the guardians knew better than I, and at the time, at least, nothing was done to correct this wrong.1

This monograph, one of Charles C Thomas' American Lecture Series, is written mainly from a neurosurgical point of view. Part I, almost one-third of the book, is a careful consideration of this neoplasm against the background of our current knowledge of neoplasia in general. In addition, the relationship of medulloblastoma to the other neuroectodermal neoplasms as well as to leptomeningeal sarcomas is reviewed. Part II of the book is a review of the clinical aspects of this disease. Material was collected from the University of Chicago Clinics, Yale University and the Lahey Clinic, as well as from the Brain Tumor Registry at New Haven.

What is a materials collection? Why is it in the library? The aim of this paper is to introduce the idea of a materials collection as a result of explorations in arts based research. This involved theorizing ideas of materiality, haptic engagement with objects and relating them to the creative process within a library environment. The collection is a response to a perceived gap between theory and creative practice expressed within the student cohort. The risk to the library comprises a possible erosion of value in the student experience, in that the service becomes marginalized in contrast to the studio based activities. The nature of the research undertaken by the student cohort at the University for the Creative Arts is considered, and the development of the materials collection is presented as a response to this inquiry. The collection forms the site of haptic learning: the sensual engagement with the world is combined with a phenomenological approach to create a space within which the relationship of theory and practice may be developed.


The article deals with the problem of interrelation of linguistic base of development of native and foreign speech activity of schoolchildren and students. The authors identify the actual difficulties experienced by Chinese students in mastering the Russian language at an advanced stage in the University, and justify the assumption that one of the reasons for difficulties in the creation of a complete text is in the margin of the linguistic base (insufficient information about the text) development of native language activity in the school to the needs of foreign language teaching at the University . In search of the reason, the authors carry out a comparative analysis of school programs in the native language of the two countries - Ukraine and China – and provide an opportunity for the pedagogical community to get acquainted with the content of training on the development of speech activity, with the structure of programs in order to understand and choose a more effective way of building the program and filling it with the necessary content from the field of linguistics of the text. This information, according to scientists, is the basis for the development of both native and foreign speech. Strengthening the school base for the development of a speech activity in the field of the native language will contribute to the transfer of knowledge and skills from the field of the native language to the field of foreign language and, thus, overcome the difficulties in mastering the ability to create a complete text in a foreign language, since the laws of construction of the text are similar in different languages. The continuity of knowledge between the links of the educational system in this aspect is an important condition for the effectiveness of mastering communicative competence, and its observance is the care of the compilers of programs and textbooks.
