Background: The patients under cataract sur-gery often experience anxiety not only during the surgery, but also prior to the surgery.Purpose: We sought to determine the effects of slow-stroke back massage on anxiety in patients undergoing cataract surgery. Setting: The study was conducted in the Amiral-momenin Hospital of Zabol city, south-east of Iran.Participants: A total of 60 candidates of cataract surgery participated in the study.Research Design: The participants were ran-domly allocated to either control or intervention groups. The intervention group received slow-stroke back massages, while patients in control group received routine interventions.Intervention: The slow-stroke back massage was performed on the patients assigned to the interven-tion group. The intervention was performed in the morning of the surgery day at 30 minutes before the surgery. The researcher performed each mas-sage session in a sitting position. The duration of each massage session was 15 minutes. Main Outcome Measures: Anxiety was assessed in the both groups in the morning of the surgery, before and immediately after the intervention. In-dependent samples Student’s t test, paired samples Student’s t test, and chi-squared test were used to analyze the data. Results: Anxiety was not significantly different between the two groups before and after the mas-sage (p = .816). On the other hand, paired samples Student’s t test showed a significant difference comparing the anxiety scores before (49.7±5.43) and after (45.16±3.89) the massage in the interven-tion group (p < .001). Conclusions: Based on our results, slow-stroke back massage, which is a low-cost and safe method, reduced anxiety in patients who were candidates for cataract surgery.

The aim of our research was to determine the explosive strength of the legs i.e., the height of the jump of the top-ranked female handball players during the season. 15 female players underwent the following tests for estimating the explosive strength of the legs: SJ, CMJ, CMJ free arm, CMJ right leg and CMJ left leg. The Student’s t-test was applied for establishing the changes between the measuring sessions during the season. The results obtained show that there were statistically significant changes and better results at the end of the season in the following parameters: CMJ right leg =.002 and CMJ left leg = .018, whereas no significant changes occurred in all the other two-leg jumps. Taking into consideration the fact that in performing different throws and goal shooting the most prominent movements in handball are done on one leg, the results were expected. It is recommended that throughout the season the training process should include additional exercises for improving and maintaining the ability of the handball players to jump (plyometric, proprioceptive and the combination of the two with the common strength improving exercises), since their positive effects have been proven by quite a few studies.

The article discusses issues related to the study of the effectiveness of a digital educational resource in the form of a computer program for the selection and training of children 6-8 years old in the intellectual sport of "draughts (checkers)". The structure and functional features of the created computer program are revealed. The scale of the coefficient of combinational vision has been substantiated, which allows assessing the level of development of combinational vision in young draughts players both during selection in the draughts section and during correction of the training process. To assess the effectiveness of the developed methodology, a pedagogical experiment was used; the significance of differences between the results was calculated using Student's t-test for dependent results. The results obtained in the study showed the effectiveness of using the developed computer program in training and evaluating the development of the combinational vision of young draughtsmen as one of the main indicators of the draughtsman’s ability to make a final strike, leading to the win of the match. The results can be used in the selection process and in the training process in sports sections and draughts (checkers) clubs.

Background:Dental bleaching has been increasingly sought out to improve dental aesthetics, but it may cause changes in dental enamel. Objective:To assess the influence of different time intervals on bleaching gel applications with regard to the Microhardness (MH) and Surface Roughness (SR) on dental enamel.Material and Methods:Forty bovine incisors were randomly divided into two groups (G1 and G2) and both were bleached with 35% Hydrogen Peroxide (HP35) (n=20; G1: seven-day interval and G2: two-day interval). The MH and SR tests were performed before bleaching (T0) and after the first (T1), second (T2), and third (T3) bleaching gel applications. The specimens were stored in artificial saliva between each application (37°C). The data were analyzed using the student’s t-test (p≤ 0.05) for dependent samples. Results:The reduced time interval (two days) led to a significant reduction in MH, while MH was not affected during the seven-day interval. The SR results increased regardless of the bleaching gel application time interval. Conclusion:The decreased time interval of two days between bleaching gel applications caused changes in MH but did not influence the SR of dental enamel.

Background. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in situational efficiency parameters that differentiate male basketball teams according to outcome. Sample of entities consisted of 38 games played in the Olympic Games in London 2012. Methods. Situational efficiency variables that affected the final outcome were comprised of 13 parameters. Differences between successful and unsuccessful teams were obtained using Student’s t-test. Also, overall differences between teams were analysed applying multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and discriminant analysis with standardized canonical coefficients (SCC). Significant value was set up at p ≤ .05. Results. Results showed overall statistical differences in situational parameters between teams (p < .001). Also, discriminant function showed that situation parameters 2 pts-fail (F-value -14.82, SCC = –0.967, p < .001), 3 pts-fail (F-value = 5.57, SCC = –0.403; p < .05), offensive rebounds (F-value – 16.38, SCC = 0.943, p < .001), defensive rebounds (F-value = 6.66, SCC = 0.822, p < .05), turnovers (F-value = 14.03, SCC = –0.608, p < .001) and steals (F-value = 4.78, SCC = 0.425, p < .05) differentiated most of the teams according to outcome. Conclusion. On the basis of the obtained results we suggest that winning teams had technical-tactical parameters on higher level due to better timing of sports fitness with adequate resting periods and type of training process.

In the course of the study using special athletics exercises, a significant improvement in the physical preparedness indicators of young football players was established. The introduction of additional specialized athletics exercises (running and jumping) for wide midfielders 13-14 years old in the training process, in the preparatory period, has increased the number of special motor actions. The number of jerking performance increased by 3,8% (t=6,23; p<0,001) by 15-20 and 4,5% (t=5,77; p<0,001) accelerations by 40-50m, which affected the total number of runs per game (t=4,86; p<0,01). The total number of special motor actions increased by 18,4% (t=8,89; p <0,001). Received on the effectiveness of using special running and jumping exercises on the quantity and quality of the implementation of the technical and tactical actions of the wide midfielders 13-14 years old.

The aim of this work was to identify the immunotropic effects of ivermectin in productive and laboratory animals in real and simulated conditions. The studies were carried out on hybrid pigs at the age of 144 days reared in an industrial pig complex and on Wistar rats aged 5 months with a body weight of 230 - 250 g. For the experiments there was used acaricide insecticide Ivermin (Biovet Drwalew S.A., Poland), which was administered to pigs once subcutaneously in a dose of 0,2 mg / kg and to rats in a tenfold therapeutic dose. Blood samples were taken from pigs either before the administration of Ivermin, and 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 days after the administration. The level of immunoglobulins (IgG, IgM, IgA) was determined in serum by the method of radial immunodiffusion according to Mancini. To prepare histopreparations, samples of thymus, spleen and lymph nodes were taken from rats 14 days after the administration of the preparation. For statistical processing of experimental data, Student’s T-test for dependent samples has been used. When studying pigs’ blood serum, a decrease in the content of IgG was established in all periods of the study. A decrease in level of IgM and IgA was marked in 7 days after the experiment started. At the end of the experiment, the IgG level remained below the background value by 16,4%; IgM - by 15,2%; IgA – by 33%. In the rat thymus, a narrowing of the cortical substance was observed when a toxic dose of Ivermin was injected, with the splenic follicles reduced, and reproduction centers faintly pronounced. Hemosiderin accumulation was detected around the follicles. In the mesenteric lymph nodes, there was found a thickening of the capsule and the expansion of trabeculae. Cortical substance was narrow and paracortical zone was wide. The results of the study indicate a high risk of immunotoxic effect of ivermectin.

AbstractBackground: The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of footballers who participated in the 2008 and 2012 European Championships. The study was conducted by analysis of basic technical and tactical game.Material/Methods: The observation method in the form of a kinematic game analysis system was used to collect necessary data. The research material was based on analysis of 304 players participating in the 2008 European Championships and 277 players in the 2012 European Championships, with each tournament consisting of 31 matches. Statistica software was used to apply the Student’s t-test for the independent groups. Results: Higher values of indicators determining player’s efficiency were found in the teams participating in the 2012 tournament; significant differences were found in the total number (p = 0.048) and accuracy (p = 0.034) of shots taken by the most successful teams, in the number (p = 0.044), efficiency (p = 0.002) and accuracy (p < 0.001) of passes as well as in the length of distance covered (p < 0.001).Conclusions: A systematic increase in the efficiency of passes in subsequent tournaments points to an upward trend of this element in the game. An increase was also noted in the number of shots taken, which was accompanied by a decrease in shot accuracy. Modern football has become a fast team game with lots of passes of high reliability. Thus, training of young players should be focused on the development of playing techniques and motor skills
