The work is based on a morphological study of ampoules of the fallopian tubes of 130 young and senile women who gave birth. Macrometric, histological, immunohistochemical and micrometric methods of investigation were applied. The regularities of age-related morphological variability of the fallopian tube ampoule are revealed, which are manifested in a decrease in the parameters of their length, as well as external diameters in the middle of the ampoule and at the places of transition of the isthmus into the ampoule and ampoule into the funnel from young age to old age. Histoarchitectonics of ampoules of the fallopian tubes in women in old age is characterized by flattening of the epithelium of the mucous membrane, which forms an abundance of nearby thickened folds that form an uneven narrowing of the lumen of the ampoule. The thinning of the muscle membrane is determined with the growth of connective tissue instead of it and the accumulation of adipocytes in the subserose base. In old age, there is a more pronounced expression of vimentin, which can be traced not only in the endothelium and subendothelial layer of blood vessels, including capillaries, but also in individual fibroblasts. It was found that the features of the micrometric characteristics of the fallopian tube ampoules consist in a decrease in the inner perimeter of the epithelial lining and the lumen area, along with an increase in the area of their wall at the median cross-section in old age compared with young age.

Senescence-accelerated mouse prone 10 (SAMP10) exhibits cerebral atrophy and depression-like behavior. A line of SAMP10 with spontaneous mutation in the Slc5a2 gene encoding the sodium-glucose cotransporter (SGLT) 2 was named SAMP10/TaSlc-Slc5a2slc (SAMP10-ΔSglt2) and was identified as a renal diabetes model. In contrast, a line of SAMP10 with no mutation in SGLT2 (SAMP10/TaIdrSlc, SAMP10(+)) was recently established under a specific pathogen-free condition. Here, we examined the mutation effect in SGLT2 on brain function and longevity. No differences were found in the survival curve, depression-like behavior, and age-related brain atrophy between SAMP10-ΔSglt2 and SAMP10(+). However, memory retention was lower in SAMP10-ΔSglt2 mice than SAMP10(+). Amyloid beta (A4) precursor-like protein 1 (Aplp1) expression was significantly lower in the hippocampus of SAMP10-ΔSGLT2 than in SAMP10(+) at 2 months of age, but was similar at 12 months of age. CaM kinase-like vesicle association (Camkv) expression was remarkably lower in SAMP10(+). These genes have been reported to be involved in dendrite function. Amyloid precursor proteins have been reported to involve in maintaining homeostasis of glucose and insulin. These results suggest that mutation in SGLT2 results in down-regulation of Aplp1 in young age, which can lead to poor memory retention in old age.

The study of the age-related anatomical variability, its exact morphological characteristics in adulthood, established using modern research methods, are needed, which can serve as a criterion for a conditional norm. The aim of the study is to determine the macro- and micro-morphometric parameters of the ampulla of the fallopian tubes of women in the first period of adulthood using prosection material and their morphological characteristics. The ampulla of both fallopian tubes of 44 nulliparous and 58 giving birth women of the first period of adulthood (from 21 to 35 years) were examined. Organometric, histological, immunohistochemical and macro- and micro-morphometric research methods were used. It determined the length of the ampoules, their outer diameter at the junction of the isthmus in the ampoule, in the central part of the ampoule and at the junction of the ampoule in the funnel. Histological sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin, picro fuchsin according to van Gieson. In the immunohistochemical study of the samples, antibodies against vimentin and the CD68 marker were used. The area of the lumen of the ampulla of the fallopian tube and the area of its wall was calculated, and the circumference of the epithelial lining was measured. As a result, it was found that the outer diameter of the fallopian tubes at the junction of the isthmus into the ampulla and the ampoule into the funnel, as well as in the central part of the ampoule, is characterized by the absence of a statistically significant difference in parameters in nulliparous and giving birth women. The histological picture of the ampulla of the fallopian tubes both in nulliparous and in women giving birth in the first period of adulthood is of the same type and is represented by a mucous membrane that forms many thin papillary folds, internal circular and external longitudinal layers of smooth muscle tissue of the muscular membrane and the serous membrane. The detection in the tissues of the ampulla of the fallopian tubes in nulliparous and giving birth women in a moderate amount of CD68-immunopositive macrophages, the concentration of which increases in the epithelium and near it, as well as the expression of vimentin in the vessel walls and individual fibroblasts, indicates the presence of physiological tissue regeneration processes. Analysis of the indicators of the areas of the lumen of the ampoule and its wall at the median section, as well as the circumference of the epithelial lining, allows us to conclude that these parameters predominate in the right fallopian tube.

AbstractBrachauchenine pliosaurids were a cosmopolitan clade of macropredatory plesiosaurs that are considered to represent the only pliosaurid lineage that survived the faunal turnover of marine amniotes during the Jurassic- Cretaceous transition. However, the European record of the Early to early Late Cretaceous brachauchenines is largely limited to isolated tooth crowns, most of which have been attributed to the classic Cretaceous taxon Polyptychodon. Nevertheless, the original material of P. interruptus, the type species of Polyptychodon, was recently reappraised and found undiagnostic. Here, we describe a collection of twelve pliosaurid teeth from the upper Albian-middle Cenomanian interval of the condensed, phosphorite-bearing Cretaceous succession at Annopol, Poland. Eleven of the studied tooth crowns, from the Albian and Cenomanian strata, fall within the range of the morphological variability observed in the original material of P. interruptus from the Cretaceous of England. One tooth crown from the middle Cenomanian is characterized by a gently subtrihedral cross-section. Similar morphology has so far been described only for pliosaurid teeth from the Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous. Even though it remains impossible to precisely settle the taxonomic distinctions, the studied material is considered to be taxonomically heterogeneous.

SummaryThe objective of this study was a morphological characterization of five Moroccan sheep breeds (Béni Guil, Boujaâd, D'man, Sardi and Timahdite) to assess between- and within-breed variability using multivariate analyses. Fourteen morphological measurements were collected on 876 adult animals of both sexes in 98 different flocks located in 22 geographic localities of five breeds. The multiple analysis of variance revealed that significant morphological differences existed between breeds. The overall proportion of total variance due to between-breed component was 28.3 percent. The factor analysis revealed three factors accounting for 50.1, 11.8 and 7.54 percent of total variance. The first factor had high loadings for variables relating to body size, whilst the second factor had high association with traits reflecting tail length and ear size. The third factor had high loadings for wool trait. The squared Mahalanobis distance between the five sheep breeds were highly significant (P< 0.001). The largest morphological divergence was shown between Béni Guil and Sardi breeds (23.5) and the smallest one was between Boujaâd and Sardi breeds (3.54). The discriminant functions clearly discriminated and assigned 94.4 percent of Béni Guil, 79.7 of Boujaâd, 88.5 percent of D'man, 86.7 of Sardi and 80.1 percent of Timahdite sheep into their breed of origin. Overall morphological differences observed within-breeds were due for 18.1 percent to geographic locality and for 20.7 percent to flock management. It was concluded that the information reported in this study will be the basis for the establishment of characterization and selection strategies for Moroccan sheep.
