The research was designed to help resolve the absence of the systematization of information in the accreditation processes for academic programs in higher education institutions. In order to facilitate academic programs that are going to undergo evaluation processes to satisfy with the criteria, guidelines, and quality standards established by higher education accreditation organizations. A qualitative methodology was determined with a non-experimental design and a descriptive approach, through a review of scientific literature, empirical references, supported by the systematic review method; a procedure was established to support the existence of the research problem by applying the Cochrane Manual of systematic reviews. It was proposed to develop a systematic review of the systematization of information in the accreditation processes for academic programs. Finally, a series of conclusions were presented.

IntroductionHearing loss is a chronic condition affecting 12 million individuals in the UK. People with hearing loss regularly experience difficulties interacting in everyday conversations. These difficulties in communication can result in a person with hearing loss withdrawing from social situations and becoming isolated. While hearing loss research has largely deployed quantitative methods to investigate various aspects of the condition, qualitative research is becoming more widespread. Grounded theory is a specific qualitative methodology that has been used to establish novel theories on the experiences of living with hearing loss.Method and analysisThe aim of this systematic review is to establish how grounded theory has been applied to investigate the psychosocial aspects of hearing loss. Methods are reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Protocols 2015 checklist. Studies included in this review will have applied grounded theory as an overarching methodology or have grounded theory embedded among other methodologies. Studies included will have adult participants (≥18 years) who are either people with an acquired hearing loss, their family and friends (communication partners), or healthcare practitioners including audiologists, general practitioners, ear, nose and throat specialists and hearing therapists. The quality of application of grounded theory in each study will be assessed using the Guideline for Reporting and Evaluating Grounded Theory Research Studies.Ethics and disseminationAs only secondary data will be used in this systematic review, ethical approval is not required. No other ethical issues are foreseen. This review is registered with the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (http://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO). Findings will be disseminated via peer-reviewed publications and at relevant academic conferences. Findings may also be published in relevant professional and third sector newsletters and magazines as appropriate. Data will inform future research and guideline development.PROSPERO registration numberCRD42019134197.

The author analyzes implicit epistemological assumptions of the modern systematic reviews of scientific literatures that usually are left unconsidered or problematized. The foundations for building the image of scientific communication as representative, clearly cut and easily analyzed reflection of efficient search for and spread of truth which approaching is characterized by increased explorers’ consent. Generalization of this communication brings the evidential effect to advance argument in scientific discussions. However, a series of conditions for adequate conversion and «migration» of published conclusions into the conclusions of systematic review has to be provided to preserve evidential effect in summarizing analysis. The essential components of systematic reviewing methodology comprise: setting the task of obtaining quantified results; selection criteria for unambiguous correspondence between the model of process under scientific investigation and totality of publications; representative observation of relevant publications and making conclusions based on comparative evidential effect of research and consent level achieved. The systematic reviews compliant with the above requirements make them a powerful instrument of evidence in the social sciences, biology and medicine.

This study aims to explore how the topic of sustainability in Higher Education Institutions (HEI) has been addressed in the scientific literature. It presents a systematic literature review of peer-reviewed journal articles published between 1975 and 2019. After that, bibliometric and content analyses were performed in order to identify the behavior and evolution of the literature and identify the frequency with which they appear in the text, making it possible to raise replicable and valid inferences to the data. The results of this study indicate that the theme is emerging since the year 2010 and with a strong focus on qualitative studies, focused on critical theory. The results indicate that although studies involve the tripod environment, economy, and society, there is still a gap in studies that deal with specific issues to solve practical problems and that analyze the impacts from a more holistic perspective. The combination of methods made it possible to identify and interpret the articles in the selected sample, but based on results reported by other authors, with little room for quality control and integrity.

The rapid growth of online academic programs in higher education has prompted institutions to develop processes and implement strategies to ensure the quality of their online offerings. Although there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach, there are “quality” standards which institutions can effectively implement regardless of context. This paper examines approaches from three different types of institutions in addressing quality assurance in online education on their respective campuses. Specifically, this paper presents three case studies and describes each institution’s 1) background and overview, 2) quality definition, 3) approach to quality assurance, 4) models and approaches, 5) goals, 6) successes, 7) challenges, and 8) lessons learned. A comparison reveals that despite differences in scope, size, location, mission and extent of online development, there is consistency in the institutions’ strategies to addressing quality assurance in online learning.

This study aims to reveal how the enactment of the provisions related to the standards of lecturer and educational staff in maritime vocational higher education in Indonesia. In the governance system, actually the existing regulatory instruments in Indonesia are sufficient. However, the problem is at the level of implementation with consideration of the limitations in vocational education. One of them is the limitation of lecturer and educational staff who meet the qualifications. This research uses literature study and direct observation conducted by researchers as a method of data collection. As for the discussion, a qualitative descriptive approach was used. The result of this study indicates that the governance of the standard of lecturer and educational staff in maritime vocational higher education still needs to be addressed to close existing gaps. The best solution to this problem is the willingness of all stakeholders to sit together to formulate things that so far have yet to be agreed upon. Hopefully, with better governance, there will be enough qualified lecturer and educational staff to support the achievement of overall Indonesian maritime quality standards.
