Performance Evaluation Using Reward Point and Social Media (Case Study in Utility Company)

This paper aims at two things; first, see the participants' interest if learning is carried out with e-learning. Second, how the impact of the use of social media and reward point methods on the improvement in evaluation of learning outcome. The method used is a survey and experiment. The survey is used to find out whether the reward point and/or social media method will affect employee motivation in e-learning process. Experiments are used to see the impact of the use of both methods on selected samples. The sample used was employees of PT PJB Services located in Head Office and selected by purposive technique. Data analysis used ANOVA Test to measure whether the treatment had a significant effect on the dependent variable. This paper is expected to prove that learning, especially studied in this paper, that combined with these both methods will affect positively to employee learning motivation and support the improvement of learning outcome. The results obtained are e-learning with reward points and posting the learning process on Instagram significantly increase employee motivation in learning. However, e-learning with reward points and posting the learning process on Instagram did not significantly affect on increased of evaluation of employee learning outcomes. Background: Social media is basically a tool for someone to interact with other people with use of internet. In futher, social media is not only used as a tool for interact with others, but it can be used on learning process. This study aims to analyse correlation betwen duration of using a social media with academic performance.Method: This study used a cross sectional design. Respondents on this study are 126 undergraduates students on fourth years in Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara. Using of a social media are measured by how long a student use of a social media based on their purpose (learning or entertainment). Results from the measurement will grouping into two different group, that is using of a social media for learning group and for entertainment group. The academic performance was measured by calculating a Grade Point Average (GPA) of each student. The collected data were analyzed by using Spearman Correlation method.Results: There was a significant correlation betwen duration of using a social media for learning process with academic performance (r = 0,554, p = 0,0001). Similarly, there are a significant correlation betwen duration of using a social media for entertainment with academic performance (r = -0,568, p = 0,0001), but the coefficient correlation have a negative value.Conclusion: The social media have an impact to academic performance, where the students who used more social media as a learning process have a good GPA and the students who used more social media as a entertainment have a bad GPA. Sugesstions that can be given based on this study are the use of social media can be considered as a tool for helping students enhancing learning process.

The examination is provided through the presentation of reports that have been contacted on the issue, following a discussion and presenting the possible positive and negative effects of such a use in or outside the classroom area.

My interest of doing the research is to investigate the effect of social media in higher education on globalization. As the learning process changes, social media takes a step ahead to present itself to support the learning process in campus. Furthermore, students can communicate and share everything about the content of learning with their peers, lecturers, staff and others. The changes refer to available demand on access toward contents, schedules, and news, in different time, location and digital devices that provide the user with the chance to interact through comments, feedback and creative participation. The objective of the research is to describe the problems faced by the stakeholders of the higher education regarding the use of social media in higher education context. The research found that ignorance or lack of preparation were the most significant challenges. In fact, innovation in learning has converged with all application in mobile device, and the change of learning has led to the new management. The design of the research was a mixed method research quantitative and qualitative method. Data collection technique was done through observation, questionnaires and interview and data analysis. The result of the research showed that social media in higher education need to be implemented in university. And the effect in higher education needed to be incorporated into curriculum for the learning by social media and the adoption of social media as a teaching and learning process including the program of e-learning.

Social media has became one of the marketing strategies by most of the companies to deliver their brands, products and services to customer. Apart from the advantages of the use of social media for companies, it is becoming difficult for companies to raise awareness for their brand beause of the competition. The aim of this research is to determine the impact of social media on brand awareness of Amaris Hotel. The results of this research obtained from questionnaires that had been distributed to the respondents in Jakarta and processed with correlation method. The results shows that social media gives quite big and positive impact on building and estabilishing brand awareness of AYANA Amaris Hotel for 41,5%, and Instagram gives the biggest impact on brand awareness of Amaris Hotel. The level of brand awareness of Amaris Hotel has reached the highest level, Top of Mind level. Keywords: Social Media, Brand Awareness, Marketing, Amaris Hotel

PurposeThe aim of this study was to understand how public relations leaders view and use social media analytics (SMA) and the impact of SMA on the public relations function.Design/methodology/approachThe research involved in-depth interviews with chief communication officers (CCOs) from leading multinational corporate brands.FindingsThe findings revealed that although CCOs perceive social media analytics as strategically important to the advancement of public relations, the use of social media data is slowed by challenges associated with building SMA capacity.Theoretical and practical implications – The research extends public relations theory on public relations as a strategic management function and provides practical insights for building SMA capabilities.Originality/valueThe study is among the first to provide empirical evidence of how companies are using social media analytics to enhance public relations efforts.

This study has investigated the problem of finding the impact of social media in adoption of new trends of visual arts on established visual artists of twin cities and also how social media facilitates in disseminating new techniques of visual arts among the art practitioners. The aims of the research were to investigate the impact of social media in adoption of new trends of visual arts among established visual artists, and also to evaluate the existing techniques of visual arts through diffusion innovation model among the established visual artists. The researcher has conducted interviews of established visual artists, questionnaires were also furnished. The stakeholders were practicing field visual artists (studio based) and visual art educators (art teachers). The result concluded from the present study was that adoption of social media has a positive significant relation with adoption of new trends of arts and impact on the skills of artists whereas adoption of social media has a negative but significant relation with use of social media.


Indonesian internet users reached 143,26 Million in 2017, most of them used internet for accessing messaging and social media application. We argue that usage of messaging and social media can give positive impact to the learning process. Our research method using questionnaire to collect data, research conduct in Private University in Jakarta, and student as our research unit analysis. The second year’s research shows that optimization of social media application and messenger services to improve student performance can be done by knowing the most common social media application and messenger services that used by student, socialize the process to increase number of participation, utilization of features of the application, continuous improvement, and communication about method’s success story that can attracts lecturer and students to apply and keep improve the more effective method and learning process. This research result can be use by the lecturer or educator to improve education through social media application and messenger.

The limitless development of social media, its meaning and function have begun to shift, no longer as a means of establishing relationships, communication, but at the stage of losing the role of ethics and morals, even disputes have occurred triggered by debates from communicating in social media. The purpose of this study is to describe the role of Christian ethics education in relation to the impact of social media development in the era of disruption. Using descriptive qualitative methods with literature literature can find solutions for believers in facing moral decadence due to social media abuse by knowing the era of disruption and ethical challenges from the wrong use of social media can affect moral decadence so that Christian ethics education on a biblical basis can bring modern humans. Believers in particular have become bright in social media and their use in accordance with Christian faith in this era of disruption.
