Objective - Integrity violations can result in small or large financial losses for a community or organisation. These economic losses can be the result of small actions, such as laziness or no determination of work ethics, or large losses, such as corruption practices that can cause an organisation to lose large amounts of money and suffer damage to their reputation. The study will assess the levels of public sector integrity violations among Malaysian government employees. Methodology/Technique – Previous studies have shown that serious integrity violations, such as fraud, result in major economic loss to a country. This paper explores the perceptions of 616 Malaysian government civil servants who were surveyed regarding matters of integrity violations in their working environment. Surveys were distributed using mail and online distribution formats. The level of integrity violations within the respondent’s organisations were evaluated as weak, mild or strong. Finding - The results indicate that employees in Malaysia are focused on their personal and family relationships despite the fact that this is considered as integrity violations within their organisation. Novelty - This research provides an overview of the current stage of Malaysian integrity violations and demonstrates the need for improvement in this area. Based on disaster system theory, flood risk assessment was conducted in regard to natural properties of hazard and environment as well as socioeconomics of hazard-affected bodies. The general process of economic loss evaluation in flood was consisted of two parts, namely the evaluation of pre-disaster value of hazard-affected bodies and the determination of direct economic loss rate in the flood disaster. At last, the evaluation models of direct economic losses in urban flood were established.

In the determination of outbreak of peste des petits ruminants (PPR) and the economic losses caused by the disease 1392 distributed goats at Dimla thana of Nilfamari district, purchased from different markets, were studied during March, 2007 to May, 2007. Among the distributed goats, 54.7% died before treatment, 14.7% died after treatment and 30.6% survived after treatment. Survival rate was 67.51%. Maximum number (77.6%) of goats died before treatment in the flocks of Modhupur. Survival rate of the treated goats in the locally purchased flock was the highest (98.9%) whereas that in the goats purchased from Lalmonirhat was the lowest (34.3%). Survival percentage of the non-vaccinated goats was higher (71.60%) than that of the vaccinated goats (64.95%). Among the treated goats, 7.9% were pregnant, 4.4% of them aborted and 3.5% remained pregnant though they were infected. Infectious keratoconjunctivitis (IKC) was observed in 2.5% PPR infected goats. The total economic loss was estimated at Bangladesh Tk 10,16434 ($ 14520.49). Locally collected goats had the highest probability (80.6%) of survival after treatment whereas those collected from Rangpur had the highest probability (81.3%) of death before  treatment. Probability that the goats will die after treatment was the highest among the goats purchased from Lalmonirhat (59.5%). Survival of goats was significantly (P<0.05) associated with place of purchase. Goats purchased from the local areas were 26.8 times more likely to survive than those collected from Modhupur. Goats of Lalmonirhat were 1.993 times more likely to survive than those of Modhupur

IntroductionDepressive and anxiety disorders are common among working adults and costly to employers and individuals and their prevalence is high. Public sector employees are also vulnerable to poor mental health, mainly where have been occurring organisational changes similar to private sector concepts.ObjectiveTo highlight the unmet mental needs for new vulnerable working population, government employees.MethodsThe search was conducted using PubMed, Medline, Web of Science, Scopus, B-on, Science Direct with the terms “government employees”, “federal employees”, “depressive disorders”, “anxiety disorders”. Using the PRISMA methodology, 1374 articles were considered with the search terms and if were published in the last 10 years; after a review of the title and summary, 5 eligible studies in english were included.DiscussionMental disorders are growing public health problem, and creating an enormous toll of suffering, disability and economic loss. There are few studies about depressive and anxiety disorders in public sector and those confirm that it would be to examine to what extent national characteristics can explain why individual and organizational characteristics are more related to them in some countries than in others, especially not including military or police officers who usually are submitted to high psychological distress.ConclusionsWorkplace health promotion in addressing job stress is crucial to fight against to a range of mental health outcomes. With the growing number of ageing population in Sri Lanka and continuous expansion in the public sector employment tend to create dynamic consequences on the economy. While mandatory retirement age in the public sector is forcing the employees to quit from the job yet rising ageing population in the country is seeking for employment opportunities for retirees. Hence, the objective of this study is to find out factors affecting intended retirement age decision among the public sector employees in Sri Lanka. The theoretical lens used in the study is theory of planned behaviour. This is a quantitative study which applied stepwise regression and path analysis to examine the factors affecting intended retirement age. The sample was consisted of 400 staff grade public sector officials and conducted a survey through a self-administered questionnaire. The results indicated that perceived health and attitudes of the employees towards the retirement are the major factors influenced on intended retirement age decision among the public sector employees. Employees’ job satisfaction and family relationships have some impact whilst anticipated financial position has a minor impact on intended retirement age. The findings indicated the public sector organizations need to introduce health insurance schemes for employees and to maintain an attractive organizational environment and friendly organizational culture to inculcate positive attitudes towards working environment in order to delay the retirement of the employees.

Over two million tonnes of fertiliser are applied to New Zealand pastures and crops annually and there is an increasing desire by farmers to ensure that the best possible economic return is gained from this investment. Spreading distribution measurements undertaken by Lincoln Ventures Ltd (LVL) have identified large variations in the evenness of fertiliser application by spreading machines which could lead to a failure to achieve optimum potential in some crop yields and to significant associated economic losses. To quantify these losses, a study was undertaken to calculate the effect of uneven fertiliser application on crop yield. From LVL's spreader database, spread patterns from many machines were categorised by spread pattern type and by coefficient of variation (CV). These patterns were then used to calculate yield losses when they were combined with the response data from five representative cropping and pastoral situations. Nitrogen fertiliser on ryegrass seed crops shows significant production losses at a spread pattern CV between 30% and 40%. For P and S on pasture, the cumulative effect of uneven spreading accrues, until there is significant economic loss occurring by year 3 for both the Waikato dairy and Southland sheep and beef systems at CV values between 30% and 40%. For nitrogen on pasture, significant loss in a dairy system occurs at a CV of approximately 40% whereas for a sheep and beef system it is at a CV of 50%, where the financial return from nitrogen application has been calculated at the average gross revenue of the farming system. The conclusion of this study is that the current Spreadmark standards are a satisfactory basis for defining the evenness requirements of fertiliser applications in most circumstances. On the basis of Spreadmark testing to date, more than 50% of the national commercial spreading fleet fails to meet the standard for nitrogenous fertilisers and 40% fails to meet the standard for phosphatic fertilisers.Keywords: aerial spreading, crop response, economic loss, fertiliser, ground spreading, striping, uneven application, uneven spreading, yield loss

Probity audit is an independence assessment activity to ensure the goods/services procurement processes have been implemented consistently appropriate with the principle of upholding integrity, uprightness, honesty and fulfill certain occur legislation aimed for improving the accountability for the use of public sector fund. Probity audit is done in real time simultaneously with the goods/services procurement process. This study aims to evaluate the suitability of the implementation of probity audit conducted by BPKP Headquarter as agency that initiated the implementation of probity audit in Indonesia compared with the Probity audit Guidelines for Procurement of Goods/Services as criteria. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of probity audit conducted by BPKP Headquarter has been implemented adequately, but there are activities that do not fit the criteria, especially in the activities of the determination of the scope of the audit, the preparation of working papers and the follow-up monitoring of the audit results. Probity audit merupakan kegiatan penilaian (independen) untuk memastikan bahwa proses pengadaan barang/jasa telah dilaksanakan secara konsisten sesuai dengan prinsip penegakan integritas, kebenaran, kejujuran dan memenuhi ketentuan perundangan yang berlaku yang bertujuan meningkatkan akuntabilitas penggunaan dana sektor publik. Probity audit dilakukan secara real time yaitu bersamaan dengan pelaksanaan pengadaan barang/jasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan evaluasi kesesuaian pelaksanaan probity audit yang dilakukan oleh BPKP Pusat selaku instansi yang menginisiasi pelaksanaan probity audit di Indonesia dibandingkan dengan kriteria berupa Pedoman Probity audit Pengadaan Barang/Jasa Pemerintah. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan probity audit yang dilakukan oleh BPKP Pusat sudah dilaksanakan secara memadai, namun masih terdapat hal yang belum sesuai dengan kriteria terutama dalam kegiatan penentuan ruang lingkup audit, penyusunan kertas kerja dan pemantauan terhadap tindak lanjut hasil audit.

Soiling losses of photovoltaic (PV) panels due to dust lead to a significant decrease in solar energy yield and result in economic losses; this hence poses critical challenges to the viability of PV in smart grid systems. In this paper, these losses are quantified under Qatar’s harsh environment. This quantification is based on experimental data from long-term measurements of various climatic parameters and the output power of PV panels located in Qatar University’s Solar facility in Doha, Qatar, using a customized measurement and monitoring setup. A data processing algorithm was deliberately developed and applied, which aimed to correlate output power to ambient dust density in the vicinity of PV panels. It was found that, without cleaning, soiling reduced the output power by 43% after six months of exposure to an average ambient dust density of 0.7 mg/m3. The power and economic loss that would result from this power reduction for Qatar’s ongoing solar PV projects has also been estimated. For example, for the Al-Kharasaah project power plant, similar soiling loss would result in about a 10% power decrease after six months for typical ranges of dust density in Qatar’s environment; this, in turn, would result in an 11,000 QAR/h financial loss. This would pose a pressing need to mitigate soiling effects in PV power plants.

The looseness of tires or even falling off from cars will lead to serious traffic accidents. Once it occurs, it will bring casualties and huge economic losses to society, seriously affecting the traffic safety. To mitigate such possible safety concerns, an early loosening warning system is developed in this article. The system consists of the tire monitoring module and the working control module. The tire monitoring module is installed on the tire and is designed with no power supply. The control module is installed in the vehicle body. Signal transmission between the two modules is achieved through wireless radio frequency. In the driving, once the tire is loosened, the monitoring device will send out the alarm signal automatically and wirelessly. After the driver gets the alarm signal, he can immediately perform the emergency processing, parking, and inspection, which can avoid traffic accidents caused by it. This article introduces the detailed structure, working principle, and operation process of the system. This early warning system has simple structure, high reliability, and is easy to use. It can be used in the common working environment of automobiles. Meanwhile, it is also the foundation of intelligent connected vehicle.

War has marked the year 1913; and charges and countercharges as to alleged atrocities by belligerents have been rife. Treaties were drawn to be promptly torn up; and solemn declarations of intention and policy often proved futile. The existence of internal disorder and the outbreak of domestic revolutions in several countries have also exerted disturbing influences on international relations. The result was economic loss and diplomatic tension even well beyond the field of military operations. And these conditions have led to renewed activity in the struggle for concessions and investment in renascent communities. Racial and religious sentiments have also aroused bitter feeling; while political leaders in several countries compel renewed consideration of the weight of individuals in the determination of the world's affairs.In large part the problems of 1913 were historic; but in part they were affected by apparently impending changes which we cannot as yet define. Thus the influence of socialism and of various forms of radical thought on international relations is a factor. The adoption of oil as a naval fuel, the opening of the Panama Canal, the plans for administrative reorganization of Turkey, and its capitalistic development, the renewed debate as to the Monroe doctrine, and the problem of China are all matters whose future significance scarcely concern us here; but their influence in the past year has been unquestionably great. We cannot estimate as yet the true value of many recommendations touching various fields of international coöperation; and the value of delay in international action still remains in dispute. So on the whole the year 1913 has apparently been the year of the cynic.

China is one of the most serious national which does harm to geological disasters, and the geological disasters have effect on China’s economy. Therefore, the effective evaluation for the economic losses caused by geological disasters has some reference value. This paper mainly introduces the geological disaster economic losses structure drawing and evaluated methods which include human capital method, shadow valuation method, market valuation method, investigation appraisal method and coefficient of proportionality method, and analyzes different economic losses should adopt different appraisal method. And take the Qianjiangping landslide for instant, this paper introduces how to evaluate landslide disasters economic loss. The idea and method have certain guiding significance to geological disaster economic losses evaluation.
