This investigation proposed an identification system of offline signature by utilizing rotation compensation depending on the features that were saved in the database. The proposed system contains five principle stages, they are: (1) data acquisition, (2) signature data file loading, (3) signature preprocessing, (4) feature extraction, and (5) feature matching. The feature extraction includes determination of the center point coordinates, and the angle for rotation compensation (θ), implementation of rotation compensation, determination of discriminating features and statistical condition. During this work seven essential collections of features are utilized to acquire the characteristics: (i) density (D), (ii) average (A), (iii) standard deviation (S) and integrated between them (iv) density and average (DA), (v) density and standard deviation (DS), (vi) average and standard deviation (AS), and finally (vii) density with average and standard deviation (DAS). The determined values of features are assembled in a feature vector used to distinguish signatures belonging to different persons. The utilized two Euclidean distance measures for matching stage are: (i) normalized mean absolute distance (nMAD) (ii) normalized mean squared distance (nMSD). The suggested system is tested by a public dataset collect from 612 images of handwritten signatures. The best recognition rate (i.e., 98.9%) is achieved in the proposed system using number of blocks (21×21) in density feature set. With the same number of blocks (i.e., 21×21) the maximum verification accuracy obtained is (100%).

Multimodal biometrics technology has recently gained interest due to its capacity to overcome certain inherent limitations of the single biometric modalities and to improve the overall recognition rate. A common biometric recognition system consists of sensing, feature extraction, and matching modules. The robustness of the system depends much more on the reliability to extract relevant information from the single biometric traits. This paper proposes a new feature extraction technique for a multimodal biometric system using face–iris traits. The iris feature extraction is carried out using an efficient multi-resolution 2D Log-Gabor filter to capture textural information in different scales and orientations. On the other hand, the facial features are computed using the powerful method of singular spectrum analysis (SSA) in conjunction with the wavelet transform. SSA aims at expanding signals or images into interpretable and physically meaningful components. In this study, SSA is applied and combined with the normal inverse Gaussian (NIG) statistical features derived from wavelet transform. The fusion process of relevant features from the two modalities are combined at a hybrid fusion level. The evaluation process is performed on a chimeric database and consists of Olivetti research laboratory (ORL) and face recognition technology (FERET) for face and Chinese academy of science institute of automation (CASIA) v3.0 iris image database (CASIA V3) interval for iris. Experimental results show the robustness.

The entire character recognition system is logically characterized into different sections like Scanning, Pre-processing, Classification, Processing, and Post-processing. In the targeted system, the scanned image is first passed through pre-processing modules then feature extraction, classification in order to achieve a high recognition rate. This paper describes mainly on Feature extraction and Classification technique. These are the methodologies which play an important role to identify offline handwritten characters specifically in Gujarati language. Feature extraction provides methods with the help of which characters can identify uniquely and with high degree of accuracy. Feature extraction helps to find the shape contained in the pattern. Several techniques are available for feature extraction and classification, however the selection of an appropriate technique based on its input decides the degree of accuracy of recognition.

Driving a vehicle or a car has become tedious job nowadays due to heavy traffic so focus on driving is utmost important. This makes a scope for automation in Automobiles in minimizing human intervention in controlling the dashboard functions such as Headlamps, Indicators, Power window, Wiper System, and to make it possible this is a small effort from this paper to make driving distraction free using Voice controlled dashboard. and system proposed in this paper works on speech commands from the user (Driver or Passenger). As Speech Recognition system acts Human machine Interface (HMI) in this system hence this system makes use of Speaker recognition and Speech recognition for recognizing the command and recognize whether the command is coming from authenticated user(Driver or Passenger). System performs Feature Extraction and extracts speech features such Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients(MFCC),Power Spectral Density(PSD),Pitch, Spectrogram. Then further for Feature matching system uses Vector Quantization Linde Buzo Gray(VQLBG) algorithm. This algorithm makes use of Euclidean distance for calculating the distance between test feature and codebook feature. Then based on speech command recognized controller (Raspberry Pi-3b) activates the device driver for motor, Solenoid valve depending on function. This system is mainly aimed to work in low noise environment as most speech recognition systems suffer when noise is introduced. When it comes to speech recognition acoustics of the room matters a lot as recognition rate differs depending on acoustics. when several testing and simulation trials were taken for testing, system has speech recognition rate of 76.13%. This system encourages Automation of vehicle dashboard and hence making driving Distraction Free.

In speech word recognition systems, feature extraction and recognition plays a most significant role. More number of feature extraction and recognition methods are available in the existing speech word recognition systems. In most recent Tamil speech word recognition system has given high speech word recognition performance with PAC-ANFIS compared to the earlier Tamil speech word recognition systems. So the investigation of speech word recognition by various recognition methods is needed to prove their performance in the speech word recognition. This paper presents the investigation process with well known Artificial Intelligence method as Feed Forward Back Propagation Neural Network (FFBNN) and Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). The Tamil speech word recognition system with PAC-FFBNN performance is analyzed in terms of statistical measures and Word Recognition Rate (WRR) and compared with PAC-ANFIS and other existing Tamil speech word recognition systems.

The electronic reconnaissance system is the operational guarantee and premise of electronic warfare. It is an important tool for intercepting radar signals and providing intelligence support for sensing the battlefield situation. In this paper, a radar waveform automatic identification system for detecting, tracking and locating low probability interception (LPI) radar is studied. The recognition system can recognize 12 different radar waveform: binary phase shift keying (Barker codes modulation), linear frequency modulation (LFM), Costas codes, polytime codes (T1, T2, T3, and T4), and polyphase codes (comprising Frank, P1, P2, P3 and P4). First, the system performs time–frequency transform on the LPI radar signal to obtain a two-dimensional time–frequency image. Then, the time–frequency image is preprocessed (binarization and size conversion). The preprocessed time–frequency image is then sent to the convolutional neural network (CNN) for training. After the training is completed, the features of the fully connected layer are extracted. Finally, the feature is sent to the tree structure-based machine learning process optimization (TPOT) classifier to realize offline training and online recognition. The experimental results show that the overall recognition rate of the system reaches 94.42% when the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is −4 dB.

Face biometric system is one of the successful applications of image processing. Person recognition using face is the challenging task since it involves identifying the 3D object from 2D object. The feature extraction plays a very important role in face recognition. Extraction of features both in spatial as well as frequency domain has more advantages than the features obtained from single domain alone. The proposed work achieves spatial domain feature extraction using Asymmetric Region Local Binary Pattern (ARLBP) and frequency domain feature extraction using Fast Discrete Curvelet Transform (FDCT). The obtained features are fused by concatenation and compared with trained set of features using different distance metrics and Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier. The experiment is conducted for different face databases. It is shown that the proposed work yields 95.48% accuracy for FERET, 92.18% for L-space k, 76.55% for JAFFE and 81.44% for NIR database using SVM classifier. The results show that the proposed system provides better recognition rate for SVM classifier when compare to the other distance matrices. Further, the work is also compared with existing work for performance evaluation.

Abstract Face recognition is a relatively novel research field, and its application is closely related to numerous other areas. Moreover, it is emerging as a critical research theme due to its broad range of applications. Thus, many face recognition methods use a variety of feature extraction approaches. Nonetheless, the issue continues to be challenging, particularly identifying non-biological entities. This paper proposes an extended descriptor for local features of an effectual facial recognition system using a local directional pattern operator. This technique combines the Frei-Chen and Robinson masks’ strengths by fusion of the directional features of LDP for these two masks; this elicits a robust feature extraction method for distinguishing faces. Experimental results using the Yale database show that the extended descriptor considerably improved recognition rate and better performance than traditional local feature descriptors.

Compared with the most traditional fingerprint identification, knuckle print and hand shape are more stable, not easy to abrase, forge, and pilfer; in aspect of image acquisition, the requirement of acquisition equipment and environment are not high; and the noncontact acquisition method also greatly improves the users’ satisfaction; therefore, finger knuckle print and hand shape of single-mode identification system have attracted extensive attention both at home and abroad. A large number of studies show that multibiometric fusion can greatly improve the recognition rate, antiattack, and robustness of the biometric recognition system. A method combining global features and local features was designed for the recognition of finger knuckle print images. On the one hand, principal component analysis (PCA) was used as the global feature for rapid recognition. On the other hand, the local binary pattern (LBP) operator was taken as the local feature in order to extract the texture features that can reflect details. A two-layer serial fusion strategy is proposed in the combination of global and local features. Firstly, the sample library scope was narrowed according to the global matching result. Secondly, the matching result was further determined by fine matching. By combining the fast speed of global coarse matching and the high accuracy of local refined matching, the designed method can improve the recognition rate and the recognition speed.

The performance of speech recognition system is well or not is closely related to the characteristic parameters. For emulating human auditory system, a new method of speech feature extraction based on Hopf filter banks is presented. We modeled the extraction process of the MFCC, and used Hopf filter banks instead of the triangular filter banks. Then, we according the characteristics of Basilar Membranes in the cochlea to adjust the center frequency and bandwidth of the filter. The test speech goes through the Hopf filter banks, multi-dimensional eigenvectors will be obtained. After that, by Discrete Cosine Transformation, we will get the Hopf cepstral coefficients of the speech. Comparing with traditional feature MFCC, the speech recognition systems with Hopf characteristic parameters have better recognition rate and robustness characteristics in low Signal Noise Ratio (SNR) environment.

In this paper, we represent a score level fusion method on fingerprint and finger vein. Each unimodal identification system carries out processes of image preprocessing, feature extraction and feature matching to generate a vector of score. And we apply clustering analysis to split the score range into zones of interest. Then a decision tree and weighted-sum approach are used to make the decision. We test the proposed method on standard biometric database. Three metrics, namely, False Accept Rate, False Reject Rate, Recognition Rate, are used to evaluate experimental results. And experimental results show that the fusion system has a better performance than unimodal identification system.
