Covid-19 pandemic created a new environment to New Green Deal - flagship initiative of European Commission and crucial element of Ursula von der Leyen political manifesto. Author argues, that faced with the possibility of weakening or postponing ambitious environmental programme because of new challenges the commission, backed by important group pf member states decided to build a direct link between reconstruction after pandemics and greening of the economy. The result was a push forward with decarbonisation commitments  - the stimuli for change should be bound together to strengthen  their interdependence and build a momentum for modernization of EU in both economic and political dimensions. Conditionality of Next Generation Europe financial instrument is one of the links between these two dimensions.

The Skills & Education Guarantee Pilot Scheme is a joint project from the European Investment Fund (EIF) and the European Commission (EC) aimed at supporting training and development investment for employees. Through improving access to finance for small and medium businesses in search of funding to invest in education and upskilling, this €50 million pilot scheme is expected to benefit around 1.5 million businesses. The initiative launched in 2020 and, beyond this, aims to become a mainstream financial instrument across Europe within the 2021-2027 EU financial framework.

This chapter mainly points out how militarization as a bureaucratic and discursive “apparatus” results in a colonial modernization. Furthermore, the chapter establishes a direct link between military settlements – by various occupations – and a narrative of modernization and modernity. Both military protocols and the scope of the military activities contribute to a form of colonization and dependence, economically as well as culturally. Militarization is a wider concept involving at least two dimensions: the economic and political factors sustaining the expansion of military spending; and the social, cultural, and ideological dimension. However, the master narrative of modernization clashes with rising claims to autonomy in the local population that assert an alternative modernity.

Anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) are an important group of drugs of several generations, ranging from the oldest phenobarbital (1912) to the most recent cenobamate (2019). Cannabidiol (CBD) is increasingly used to treat epilepsy. The outbreak of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in 2019 created new challenges in the effective treatment of epilepsy in COVID-19 patients. The purpose of this review is to present data from the last few years on drug–drug interactions among of AEDs, as well as AEDs with other drugs, nutrients and food. Literature data was collected mainly in PubMed, as well as google base. The most important pharmacokinetic parameters of the chosen 29 AEDs, mechanism of action and clinical application, as well as their biotransformation, are presented. We pay a special attention to the new potential interactions of the applied first-generation AEDs (carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital and primidone), on decreased concentration of some medications (atazanavir and remdesivir), or their compositions (darunavir/cobicistat and lopinavir/ritonavir) used in the treatment of COVID-19 patients. CBD interactions with AEDs are clearly defined. In addition, nutrients, as well as diet, cause changes in pharmacokinetics of some AEDs. The understanding of the pharmacokinetic interactions of the AEDs seems to be important in effective management of epilepsy.

Bioart and biomedical art are blossoming fields, with a whole new generation of artists, the DIYbio movement enabling more people to get involved, and discoveries in bioscience bringing in new challenges. Supported by the Creative Europe program of the European Commission Trust Me, I’m an Artist is a project initiated by artist Anna Dumitriu and ethicist Bobbie Farsides to provide a platform for discussing bioart and ethics, sharing knowledge and building capacity. This article reflects upon the author’s journey through the different art projects and how foregrounding ethics challenged her usual art critic approach.

AbstractAn adaptive, adversarial methodology is developed for the optimal transport problem between two distributions $\mu $ and $\nu $, known only through a finite set of independent samples $(x_i)_{i=1..n}$ and $(y_j)_{j=1..m}$. The methodology automatically creates features that adapt to the data, thus avoiding reliance on a priori knowledge of the distributions underlying the data. Specifically, instead of a discrete point-by-point assignment, the new procedure seeks an optimal map $T(x)$ defined for all $x$, minimizing the Kullback–Leibler divergence between $(T(x_i))$ and the target $(y_j)$. The relative entropy is given a sample-based, variational characterization, thereby creating an adversarial setting: as one player seeks to push forward one distribution to the other, the second player develops features that focus on those areas where the two distributions fail to match. The procedure solves local problems that seek the optimal transfer between consecutive, intermediate distributions between $\mu $ and $\nu $. As a result, maps of arbitrary complexity can be built by composing the simple maps used for each local problem. Displaced interpolation is used to guarantee global from local optimality. The procedure is illustrated through synthetic examples in one and two dimensions.

As a registered charity independent of the NHS, the College is heavily reliant on voluntary income. Legacies, in particular, have always played a vital role in the College's funding and have in the past enabled us to purchase equipment and to support projects: often in areas of surgical health care that were of special interest or concern to the legator. In reviewing the activities of the College over the past year, for the first time we have taken the opportunity in the annual report to thank this very important group of donors who wish to push forward the boundaries of surgery through leaving a legacy to the College in their will.

Structural and cohesion policy is one of the European Union’s main instruments for implementing one of its main principles, and that is solidarity between the more economically developed regions and those which are lagging behind in economic and social terms. Reducing regional disparities in the European Union is achieved through individual instruments, the most important of which are the structural funds. The preparation of legislation and conditions for the new programming period 2021-2027 is currently being intensively negotiated at the level of the European Commission and the Member States. These processes are affected by the fact that the European Union is currently facing many new challenges that affect the setting of priorities as well as the new multiannual financial framework. Cohesion policy is the European Union’s most powerful investment tool and currently accounts for one-third of the EU budget but cuts proposed by the Commission for the years 2021-2017 would reduce its share considerably.Key words: cohesion, European Union, programming period 2021-2027, legislative

The country of origin considered as one of most effect factors on consumers' evaluation of the product as an external feature is one of the most important topics related to international marketing and the country of origin is usually linked to the word "made in ..." which is an intangible feature of the product similar to the guarantee and brand name, it does not directly affect the real performance of the product, as well as the country of origin is an important element of marketing is known to affect the perceptions of consumers as well as their behavior leading to the consumer cognitive situation, This study used the descriptive method and aimed to measure the level of customer perception of the image of country of origin, and the impact of image of country of origin (Economics, Technological, Human Resource, and Political dimensions) on purchase intention, the population of the study graduate students (Master) in Sudan universities, (Khartoum state) and the data were collected through questionnaire from non- probability , convenience sample consisting of (300) respondent, and hypotheses have been tested by regression, and another statistical tools (standard deviations, means) by using (SMART PLS) The study found that There is no positive relationship between the economic and technological dimensions and the purchasing intention. Also found there is positive relationship between economic and technological dimensions and purchasing intention. The study also found that there are significant differences in respondents' answers due to Personal characteristics (gender) of economy and human resources only, the study recommend decision makers of cell phone companies to provides a clear information about economical and human capital of country of origin, The consumer's perception of the country of origin through these two dimensions has a significant impact on purchasing intention, As well as taking into account the differences between males and females with regard to the information on which each based on the realization of product value and provide customized promotional efforts. The study also recommended that future studies focus on further research on the relationship between country image and purchasing behavior.
