Introduction. Increasing of interest in corporate social responsibility has become currently important in Ukraine only in recent years, at a time when the concept of corporate social responsibility has been developing around the world for several decades. Domestic enterprises rarely use the principles of social responsibility in their activities. The level of familiarity with this topic is insufficient to understand the importance of the issue for business, and most often such a position is argued of financial insolvency. Purpose. Given the above, it is important to describe the process of origin of the concept of "corporate social responsibility", to understand the reasons for its emergence, as well as to formulate a modern interpretation of the term. This will prove its importance in the light of current trends in the economy as a whole, show the need for implementation and use in all economic entities. The theoretical basis of the research is the basic principles of management and economics. To carry out scientific searches on the topic were used general scientific methods of cognition, methods of logical analysis, generalization, synthesis. Results. The article deals with the origin of the concept of "corporate social responsibility", historical preconditions for its emergence. The transformation of understanding of corporate social responsibility from unsystematic activity in the field of charity to more specific realization of it as a component of the overall strategy of enterprise management is observed. The main landmarks in the history of its development and the role of the state in fixing this concept in the consciousness of business are determined. Various approaches to the definition of CSR are presented. The applicability of the concept for modern companies in the context of matching the trends of business sphere and the needs of society is determined. The importance of CSR for the enterprise and society as a whole in the current conditions of workplace and market relations is formulated.

The purpose of the article is to substantiate theoretical provisions and develop practical recommendations for the formation and disclosure of information on social responsibility of enterprises in the agrarian sphere of economy. The research objectives are as follows: to study and specify the economic essence of the notion of “corporate social responsibility”, to substantiate theoretical foundations and propose new methodological approaches of corporate social responsibility assessment and the formation of social reporting. The essence and content of corporate social responsibility, principles of formation and structure of the social report are studied with the help of such general scientific methods as systematic approach, comparison, economic-statistical method and data systematization and generalization method. The paper presents the main sections subject to including in the social report and suggests forms of social reporting, which include key performance indicators which help to assess the socio-economic performance of organizations in the agrarian sector of economy.

Abstract Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) within the extractive industry is a relevant and contentious issue globally. Issues pertaining to equality, human rights and sustainable development are pervasive throughout the economic, social and environmental arenas of the extractive industry. There is still not consensus on the definition of CSR regarding the measurement of performance or impact, or how to determine which of the various ‘developmental’ components of the concept – namely economic, social or environment – takes precedent over the other where there are competing interests. This article on CSR in the Zambian Copperbelt uses the experiences of mining communities as stakeholders who have gone through three types and eras of CSR practices within a generation. The Zambian Copperbelt has a history of operating under colonial rule, nationalisation and privatisation. The aim is to interrogate the CSR practices of the three identified eras in the history of the Zambian Copperbelt. The article is based on the findings from a mainly qualitative research approach. The research employed the survey procedure through focus groups, personal interviews and inputs from key informants. The findings are presented by a selection of narratives of CSR experiences from the Zambian Copperbelt mining communities. Consequently, an in depth discussion and analysis reflecting the effects of a CSR enabling environment in the three eras as experienced by community members follows. The paper concludes with a brief overview of the lessons learnt throughout the three eras. Kwessies met betrekking tot gelykheid, menseregte en volhoubare ontwikkeling is universeel ooglopend binne die ekonomiese-, sosiale- en omgewingsarenas van die mynsektor. Daar is steeds nie konsensus oor die definisie van KSV rakende die meting van prestasie of impak daarvan nie, ook nie hoe om te bepaal watter een van die verskillende “ontwikkelings” komponente van die konsep (naamlik die ekonomiese, sosiale of omgewingsaspek) bevoordeel moet word bo die ander, waar daar mededingende belange is nie. Hierdie artikel oor KSV in die Zambiese Koperstreek gebruik die ervarings van myngemeenskappe as belanghebbendes wat deur drie tipes en tydperke van KSV praktyke gegaan het, binne ‘n generasie. Die Zambiese Koperstreek het ‘n geskiedenis van die bedrywighede onder koloniale heerskappy, nasionalisering en privatisering. Die doel is om die KSV praktyke van die drie bogenoemde eras te ondersoek deur die geskiedenis van die Zambiese Koperstreek. Hierdie artikel is gebaseer op die bevindinge van ‘n hoofsaaklik kwalitatiewe navorsingsbenadering en het gebruik gemaak van fokusgroepe, persoonlike onderhoude en insette deur sleutel informante. Die bevindinge word aangebied deur ‘n seleksie van verhale rakende die KSV ervarings van die Zambiese Koperstreek myngemeenskappe. Daarna volg ʼn in-diepte bespreking en ontleding rakende die gevolge van ‘n KSV bemagtigende omgewing, in die drie eras soos ervaar deur lede van die gemeenskap. The article deals with the problem of implementing standards based on corporate social responsibility (CSR) in enterprises. It describes issues related to the definition of the concept of corporate social responsibility and the scope of activities affected by CSR. The article also focuses on the advantages of applying CSR principles in an enterprise as well as the controversies and dangers that may arise. The article contains numerous references of the described issues to the observed reality.

In Romania, large companies, most of which are multinationals, have made significant progress in integrating the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) into their activity. The concept of CSR in small and medium-sized companies is still in the early stages of reporting, but with great development prospects. Romanian companies have gradually begun to develop their own culture in terms of social responsibility. The main objective of this article is to analyze how Romanian authors approach CSR theories in their research. The CSR action is seen by the authors as an interdependent relationship between corporations and society. Social requirements are generally considered to be a way in which society interacts with the business environment and gives it a certain legitimacy and prestige. Given that the history of the concept of CSR is long and diverse, I must emphasize that this article focuses on the publications of Romanian authors who based their work on a theory of CSR, providing an original perspective and understanding of the concept of CSR. The research methodology approached involves analysis and synthesis appeal. The study shows that integrative theories are the most common, based on the papers of Romanian authors regarding the concept of CSR. Most articles are based on the idea that the business depends on society to continue its activity and to develop, there is an interdependent relationship between the company and society.

Recently, scholars and managers have devoted greater attention to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its strategic implications. With more awareness surrounding the topic it would be expected for there to be a consensus on a definition, but as of yet none has been reached. The lack of a universally accepted definition has led some to define it as a term, a concept, a process, a theory, while others simply call it an activity or set of activities (Hazlett & Murray, 2007). CSR has been also captioned under many names. Terms such as corporate citizenship, global citizenship, corporate social responsiveness, strategic philanthropy, and even spiritual capitalism are sometimes used interchangeably, depending on the organization to use it. Often, these numerous monikers and interpretations lead to confusion amongst those intending to study or implement the practice into their business strategy. This uncertainty on how CSR should be defined has led some academics and practitioners to believe that the concept is void of any definition. Contrary to this belief, others find that there is an overabundance of definitions; many of which are “often biased toward specific interests and thus prevent the development and implementation of the concept” (Dahlsrud, 2008). Our study focuses on the importance of CSR and why it’s becoming so prevalent in any organizations. By studying the history of CSR, its many definitions, as well as its implementation methods, we attempt to suggest strategic alternatives for an effective corporate social responsibility.

Luise Görges, Ulf Kadritzke: Corporate Social Responsibility – from Reputation Managementto the Strategic Advance of Corporate Power. This history of CSR exemplifies theadvancement of corporate power in the process of capitalist globalization. Initially started inresponse to reports on the violation of human rights, the transnational corporations (TNCs)managed to design the CSR concept as a voluntary and highly selective commitment to bridgethe gap between the rhetoric and the reality of corporate conduct. With the worldwide rise ofthe neoliberal paradigm in economic and social policy, these CSR-concepts were combinedinto a capital-dominated CSR-complex. The article tries to reconstruct the scientific, politicaland ideological roots of the concept and the steps transforming the corporate CSR-movementinto a successful ‘industry’. But the company-driven CSR is consistently confronted withactors and actions of a new social movement (including NGOs as well as unions). Theseorganizations of civil society steadily uncover the social consequences of corporate globalstrategies. The so far asymmetric balance of power may nevertheless give NGOs and theirallies– backed by the new media – a chance to lay open corporate misconduct and demonstratethe main ‘performance’ of global corporate power: the deepening of class polarization andecological instability.

The key objective of this paper is to present the dimensions and the characteristics of an airport enterprise management engagement in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). By analyzing different strategies and plans towards CSR, applied in a sample of 15 European airports, the comprehensiveness is defined, providing the assessment framework of the airports CSR effectiveness and efficiency. Conventional wisdom is to provide a CSR assessment framework applied on airport industry. The methodology based on the competitive analysis framework, driven by benchmarking analysis applied to a group of European airports engaged in different CSR strategies. Defining the key actions of the airports CSR strategy, an assessment framework to review how this strategy meets social goals is developed. The airport strategy is reviewed considering the aviation business characteristics such as, traffic and regional GDP. Based on data collected from 15 busy European airports, the comprehensiveness of CSR strategy for this business sector considering stakeholders’ theory is investigated. The outputs provide key messages to decision makers, managers, and stakeholders towards CSR comprehensiveness of the airport operators.

The article shows the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in ensuring sustainable development of the country. The types of CSR and its features in various states are considered. The author describes the economy of the Russian Federation and its impact on the system of corporate social responsibility in the country. The high profitability of resource-extractive industries and their use of the country’s national wealth defines their special role in CSR not only towards their employees through wages and the allocation of social benefits from profit, but also to the society. It is shown that the established country’s political system significantly influences the possibility of implementing a system of corporate social responsibility. The author characterizes the significant regulatory and stimulating role of the state in social development through taxation and the structure of government spending. When assessing the financial conditions of CSR, the author analyses the impact of capital outflow on its development. Corporate social responsibility also includes the responsibility of organizations to the environment. The author provides a rating assessment of Russian oil and gas, mining and metallurgical companies openness in terms of environmental responsibility.

The corporate social responsibility – a completely new idea until quite recently – becomesmore and more indispensable in the company strategy. It is so because nowadays CSR isassociated with a series of benefits.The paper presents the very idea of social responsibility of  business company as well asthe definition of stakeholders. It also shows profits from the using the CSR programs ina company. The last part of the paper presents results of the research that confirms CSR is notjust a philanthropic activity but also a factor that brings benefits to the company and its localcommunity
