Bilih (Mystacoleucus padangensis) is an endemic species of Lake Singkarak and has important economic value. Overfishing of Bilih fish using non-selective fishing gear has led to a decline in its population. High demand, resulting in decreased production and size of Bilih fish. This research aims to determine this endemic fish's length-weight relationship and condition factor as basic data to the effort conservation. The fish was captured with experimental gillnet mesh sized 5/8, ¾, and 1 inch in Sumani, Batu Taba, Paninggahan, and PLTA intake stations. The total length and the weight of Bilih fish ranged from 40 – 95 mm and 10 – 74 mg, respectively. The highest length and weight of Bilih were 80.3 mm, and 45.0 mg were found at the Sumani station. The growth pattern of male and female fish was a negative allometric characteristic. The length-weight relationship of male and female fish was W = 0.00137 L2.368 and W = 0.00179 L2.312, respectively. Condition factors of males and females are 1.02 and 1.004, respectively. The result of condition factor value for males is higher than the female. The water quality values are within the normal range that supports fish life.

The whitespotted guitarfish (Rhyncobatus Springeri) resource is an important commodity and has high economic value. This study aims to determine the growth pattern of whitespotted guitarfish landed in the PPI Sungai Kakap. This research was conducted at the PPI Sungai Kakap, Sungai Kakap District, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan Province in July and August 2019. Data was collected by observation, surveys, and interviews. Data analysis of sex ratios, length, and weight was carried out on samples of whitespotted guitarfish. The results of the analysis of the sex ratio of male and female whitespotted guitarfish were 1.00:1.44, this shows that the number of male fish caught is relatively equal to the number of female fish caught. The results of the analysis of the length and weight relationship of whitespotted guitarfish, the a value is 20.643 and the b value is 0.6770. That value represents a negative allometric growth pattern for male and female fish. The negative allometrics explain that the length growth is faster than the weight growth. Generally, the increase of the length and weight is equal, but the whitespotted guitarfish has length growth faster than weight growth

Information related to the prevalence and intensity of para-sites in an aquatic environment is crucial as preventive and responsive efforts to manage aquatic resources, especially for fish farming pur-poses. Up to now, information related to the prevalence and intensity of ectoparasites on catfish from aquaculture ponds in Aceh Besar Dis-trict is rare. This study aims to investigate the prevalence, intensity, and dominance of ectoparasites on catfish from aquaculture ponds in Aceh Besar district. The total of 200 catfish from four research stations at Sibreh, Kareung, Lambaro, and Limpok was observed in this study. The ectoparasites observation was focused on the skin, fins, and gill of the catfish. The observation parameter consists of prevalence, in-tensity, domination, length-weight relationship, and condition factor. Identification result showed that there were four types of ectoparasites infect the catfish in the aquaculture ponds in Aceh Besar District i.e Trichodina sp., Gyrodactylus sp., Dactylogyrus sp. and Ichthyopthyri-us multifiliis. Station 3 (Lambaro) had the highest prevalence and in-tensity, which were 64% and 5.87 ectoparasites/fish, respectively. In-fected catfish tended to have a lower weight growth than healthy catfish.

One of the important components in aquatic ecosystems is fish diversity, which is a key factor in determining its functionality. The coral reef fish is one of the aquatic biotas susceptible to pollutants. Besides being able to influence the composition of fish diversity, it also has an impact on its biological factors, such as its length-weight and conditions. This study aims to examine the relationship of length-weight and condition factors of four dominant fishes caught, which are ecologically and economically important, namely Lates calcarifer, Parachaetodon ocellatus, Stephanolepis cirrhifer, and Chelmon rostractus. These fish species were dominantly caught using  bubu trap. The results of the length-weight relationship were b3 of all species, with an exponent value of 2.247 for the L. calcarifer; 1.932 for P. ocellatus; 2.74 for S. cirrhifer and 2.84 for C. rostractus. Fulton’s (K) condition factor for L. carifer ranged from 15.55-21.06 (average: 17.95), for P.ocellatus ranging from 27.30-35.59 (average: 30.38), for S. cirrhifer ranged from 17.58-27.23 (average: 21.29), and for C. rostractus ranging from 21.86-30.95 (average: 24.24). While the relative weight (Wr) condition factor average value of L. calcarifer is 102.53, P. ocellatus is 100.88, S. cirrhifer is 101.72, and C. rostractus is 101.11.  It is concluded that the fish had an allometrict growth pattern, and condition factor values indicate good aquatic environmental conditions and a balance between prey and predatorKeywords: Length-Weight; Growth Pattern; Condition Factors

Abstract The Length-Weight relationship of some fish species from Oramiri-Ukwa River, was studied from January to December, 2014. The slope (b) values obtained in the nine species ranged from 1.830 to 5.670 with most of the fishes indicating a negative allometric growth pattern except for Papyrocranus afer, with b value of 3.04, thus showing a positive isometric growth pattern. The following fish species showed a high degree of positive correlation at (P > 0.05); Ctenopoma kingselyae, Alestes imberi, Channa obscura, Oreochromis niloticus, Tilapia mariae, Tilapia zillii, Synodontis omais, and Papyrocranus afer. Chrysichthys auratus did not show this positive correlation. The condition factor (K) of the fish species ranged from 0.99 to 4.54, indicating that most of the fish were in good condition except for Chrysichthys auratus with 0.99.

The study was carried out to determine length-weight relationship and sex ratio of a freshwater fish Amblypharyngodon mola (Hamilton 1822) collected from Dekar haor of Sunamganj district during the period of January to August 2017. A total of 2000 fishes were collected for the study and categorized these fishes into three groups namely males, females and combined sexes. Among 2000 mola 777 were male and 1223 were female. Length-weight equations and the correlation coefficients obtained for males, females and combined ones were: males Y = –1.97 + 3.00X, r = 0.883; females Y = –2.30 + 3.41X, r = 0.914 and combined Y = –2.11 + 3.16X, r = 0.904. Female’s A. mola attained more weight with the increases in length. Value of correlation coefficient ‘r’ was 0.883 for male and exhibited highly positive correlation between length and weight. On the contrary, ‘r’ value for female was 0.914 and it had also strongly positive correlation between length and weight relationships. Length-weight relationship of A. mola for male, female and combined sexes showed allometric pattern of growth. Condition factor ‘K’ for male, female and combined sexes was 1.09, 1.05 and 1.06, respectively and indicated better condition of fishes. The highest sex ratio (1 : 2.05) was found in May and the lowest (1 : 1.33) was in February. Dominance of females over males throughout the year was observed with an average ratio of male and female 1 : 1.57. Therefore, results of the study indicate that the existing hydrobiological conditions of the haor are conducive for food availability, free movement, feeding and better growth of the fish. Asiat. Fish found in natural tropical and sub-tropical water system experience frequent growth fluctuations. The study was conducted to determine the length-weight relationship and condition factor of Clariid species (Clarias gariepinus, Heterobranchus longifilis and Synodontis clarias) in Kano state of Nigeria. About 177 fish samples were collected from six rivers (Thomas, Ghari, Tiga, Duddurun-Gaya, Karaye and Bagwai) across the length and breadth of Kano state. Body weight (BW=248.48g), total length (TL=32.74cm) and standard length (SL=26.16cm) were determined. The length-weight relationship and condition factors were also determined. The condition factors showed varying degree of well-being of fish sampled from their habitat, and ranged from K = 0.37 to 0.89. The equation for the lengthweight relationship for the three strains is: C. gariepinus = -329.86+17.56TL, H. longifilis = -241.49+14.28TL and C. clarias = -428.51+22.72TL. Body weight and length had positive and significant relationship (r = 0.73 TL; r = 0.75 SL).
