scholarly journals Sustainability and limitation of Plastic Modified Bituminous Interlocked Paving Block: A Supervision

Without the use of a binder, Interlocking paving blocks locked each other and built a stable pavement structure which suitable for sidewalk, footpath and non-traffic area etc. that reduces the construction time and cost both. A huge amount of natural and industrial materials such as cement, bitumen, aggregate and other additives are employed in pavement construction and maintenance at the same time on the other hand plastic waste generation increases day by day which becomes an eyesore. It has been suggested by the researchers that plastic can sustain 4500 years without its degradation. 6 billion tones of plastic has been produced from 1950 to 2018 out which 12% and 9% have been incinerated and recycled but 79% left as untreated. This paper provides an guidance that waste plastic improves the rheological property of binder as well as the physical-mechanical property of interlocking pavement block if it combine with Bitumen. Through this investigation, an attempt also made to identify and suggest a possible use of plastic in the paving block so that dumping and land filling problem of waste plastic can reduce.

The age of urbanization has brought exponential growth in population and development along with the huge amount of waste generation. The waste generated is a mix type of waste which is difficult to manage using conventional methods and is ever increasing and changing in nature, blocking essential space that has become an expensive commodity in todays world. Conventional techniques such as combustion, land filling incineration, gasification have been the conventionally preferred method of waste management. The paper proposes a critical assessment of traditional waste to energy (WtE) procedure, starting from basic aspects of the process, performance, environmental assessment parameters to plasma gasification, a alternate WtE. This will assess the socio-aspect of plasma gasification , a more sustainable waste management system with producing a synthetic gas as by-product and slag. Although plasma has high installation and maintance costs, revenue generation form product can make it financially viable. This paper discusses the current limitations of this technology and highlights a few studies that are being conducted around the world that may soon take this concept from technical feasibility to practical reality.

Construction sector is one of the main sectors in contributing Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate in every developing country. The rapid growth of this sector directly produces a huge amount of construction waste. Hence, to find out the main root causes of the generation, this paper aimed to determine root causes of the construction waste generation in the construction sector. The research is carried out through triangulation technique (questionnaire survey and practitioner’s validation). This technique is adopted to facilitate cross validation by analysing 38 articles and then the final results have been validated by construction practitioners. A total of 80 root causes were identified from 38 articles and the 5 main root causes determined have scored more than 50% out of the total number of articles. Finally, the result was validated and found out that 87.5% of construction practitioners agree with the findings. The agreed root causes are ‘Constant design changes’, ‘Incorrect storage of materials’, ‘Poor handling of materials’, ‘Effect of weather’ and ‘Mistakes while ordering from suppliers’. Therefore, these initial findings will be able to aid the construction practitioner (contractors, consultants and developers) to be aware of the root causes that is mostly causing construction waste generation.

Load balancing is an integrated aspect of the environment in cloud computing. Cloud computing has lately outgoing technology. It has getting exoteric day by day residence widespread chance in close to posterior. Cloud computing is defined as a massively distributed computing example that is moved by an economic scale in which a repertory of abstracted virtualized energetically. The number of clients in cloud computing is increasing exponentially. The huge amount of user requests attempt to entitle the collection for numerous applications. Which alongside with heavy load not far afield off from cloud server. Whenever particular (Virtual Machine) VMs are overloaded then there are no more duties should be addressed to overloaded VM if under loaded VMs are receivable. For optimizing accomplishment and better response or reaction time the load has to be balanced between overloaded VMs (virtual machines). This Paper describes briefly about the load balancing accession and identifies which is better than others (load balancing algorithm).

Abstract: Transportation is an essential component for the infrastructure of all the countries. The economy and economic status of any country is determined by its network of roads, railways, waterways, airways, pipes and ports. . In the northern areas of our country, roads are the most important source of connectivity. Due to cold weather conditions which include factors like snow, rain, frost, and these roads suffer excessive damage and thus hamper the movement of people as well as goods across these parts of the country. To improve the conditions of the road connectivity in such areas huge amount of money is being invested, but the end results don’t come as satisfactory as they should come. To prevent the damage to these roads by such factors no particular method has been developed. Use of plastic in bituminous mixes can be of importance in curbing the excess damage to roads in cold weather conditions. Waste plastic roads have been used in some parts of the country with a varying degree of success. Waste plastic roads have various advantages over normal roads which can be of great importance in these parts of the country. Keywords: Subzero Temperature, roads, design, waste plastic, bitumen.

This paper focuses on the status of solid waste generation, waste management system and waste management problems in Bangladesh. Solid waste generation is in increasing trend with the growth of urban population. The country is generating about 8000 tons of solid waste each day from the six major cities (Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Rajshahi, Barisal and Sylhet), of which Dhaka city alone is contributing about 70%. Waste management system is not well organized. Efforts are underway to improve the system of waste collection, transportation, recycling, incineration and land filling. Lack of regulations/standard for waste disposal, landfill & use, lack of awareness, improper choice of technology and inadequate financial support are the major constraints for waste management in Bangladesh.Asian J.
