Tubular structural system is a 3 dimensional space structure comprises of 3, 4 or possibly more frames, braced frames or shear walls joined at or near their edges to form a vertical tube like structural system which is capable of resisting lateral forces in any direction by cantilevering from the foundation. Tubular tall building structures have started becoming an integral part of the building scenario in developed countries. They provide various advantages over a conventional tall building in terms of flexibility of interior spacing, better utilization of material and hence lesser cost of construction. Therefore studies on various parameters that influence the serviceability of such structure is beneficial in the long run. One such parameter is the differential settlement of tubular structures is studied under this work. This research work will shed some light on the influence of differential settlement on the tubular structures. The differential settlement that would occur on four separate G+60 tubular tall structures under different framed conditions is determined using a structural analysis and design software and thereby observed that there was a gradual increase from zero at the base of structure in fixed supports whereas in spring supports there was a settlement at the base of structure. From the analysis of different tube structures like framed tube, braced tube, bundled tube and tube in tube structures, it was observed that there was a certain percentage increase in the settlement of top storey with spring support when compared to that of fixed support. Compared to other tube structures, the framed tube structure exhibited a better performance in settlement under both the support conditions.

Background: Various studies have found the overall incidence of cutaneous adverse drug reactions (CADR’s) in developed countries as 1-3%, while the incidence in developing countries is thought to be higher between 2 and 5%. FDEs’ share is seen to be about 15 -30% of all CADR’s as reported in various studies. Aim of the research work was to study the clinical and epidemiological features of fixed drug eruptions and to identify probable culprit drug or drugs using Naranjo ADR probability scale and to provide information to the patient regarding the drug responsible for his/her drug rash.Methods: A total of 180 patients of fixed drug eruptions were taken up for study who presented to skin OPD at a tertiary centre of North India. Diagnosis was made on the basis of history of drug intake prior to drug eruption, repetition of similar lesions on same as well as new sites on intake of same drug with improvement of skin lesions on discontinuation of the causative drug. Further on examination, skin lesions with typical morphology compatible with FDE were seen. Causality of the FDE was assessed according to the NARANJO ADR probability scale.Results: A total of 180 patients of FDE were studied. Males outnumbered the females. The most common class of drug implicated was antimicrobials seen in 115 patients followed by NSAIDS 65 patients. Regarding the clinical presentation both skin and mucosal involvement was seen. The most common skin lesions were erythematous to hyperpigmented and violaceous macules followed by bullous FDE.Conclusions: In summary, early recognition of FDE is important not only for the dermatologists but also for the clinicians of other specialties, so that the culprit drug is recognized and stopped immediately. Drug reactions are a common reason for litigation and has medicolegal pitfalls.

Indonesia is one of the countries in the earthquake region. Therefore, it is necessary to build earthquake-resistant buildings to reduce the risk of material and life losses. Reinforced Concrete (RC) shear walls is one of effective structure element to resist earthquake forces. Applying RC shear wall can effectively reduce the displacement and story-drift of the structure. This research aims to study the effect of shear wall location in symmetric medium-rise building due to seismic loading. The symmetric medium rise-building is analyzed for earthquake force by considering two types of structural system. i.e. Frame system and Dual system. First model is open frame structural system and other three models are dual type structural system. The frame with shear walls at core and centrally placed at exterior frames showed significant reduction more than 80% lateral displacement at the top of structure.

Since the publication of The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith, in which market-based economy free from government interventions was systematically defended, economics and philosophy have mostly parted ways, culminating in a clear distinction between how most economists and philosophers view the global economic order. Although it is now clear that trade liberalization, unlike protectionism, paves the way for economic development, many still argue that the countries are better off implementing protectionist measures. Even the developed countries today seem to slowly return protectionist policies, while the developing ones commonly employ them fully. In this research work, the author will analyze the recent trends in trade policymaking as well as conduct a case study of Uzbekistan to see what impact the decades of protectionism and recent trade-liberalization reforms made on the country’s economic growth. The aim of the work is to identify and reveal the features of new protectionism in the context of globalization of the world economy and the related contradictions and to provide recommendations for Uzbek authorities based on the empirical findings. There is a very limited number of researches made in the field of trade policy in Uzbekistan, therefore this work will contribute to both Uzbekistan and global scientific societies, as the case study can be used to improve the current situation in the country, as well as it can be applied to the countries of a similar economic background (precisely present at the same geographic region) for the same purposes. The hypothesis proposed for this research is: When the country implements high protectionist measures it faces lack of money inflow, which consequently leads to a slow-down in economic growth.

<p>Prestressed transfer plate consists of a thick cast in-situ post-tensioned concrete slab supporting multi-storey shear walls at building transition level. Compared to conventional reinforced concrete transfer beams, it offers savings in concrete volume of 10-15%, cuts steel reinforcement content by 35-50% and significantly reduces formwork usage which eventually helps to achieve lower carbon footprint for a more sustainable transfer floor construction. The design of prestressed transfer plates is complicated owing to its two-way bending behaviour and irregular load path from reactions of numerous shear walls. This paper elaborates the analysis of prestressed transfer plates and discusses their interaction effect with shear walls. It also explains the design of interfacing shear for thick plate construction with multi-layer casting in addition to various design considerations including flexural and punching shear design based on relevant codes of practice.</p>

The need to store massive volumes of spatio-temporal data has become a difficult task as GPS capabilities and wireless communication technologies have become prevalent to modern mobile devices. As a result, massive trajectory data are produced, incurring expensive costs for storage, transmission, as well as query processing. A number of algorithms for compressing trajectory data have been proposed in order to overcome these difficulties. These algorithms try to reduce the size of trajectory data, while preserving the quality of the information. In the context of this research work, we focus on both the privacy preservation and storage problem of spatio-temporal databases. To alleviate this issue, we propose an efficient framework for trajectories representation, entitled DUST (DUal-based Spatio-temporal Trajectory), by which a raw trajectory is split into a number of linear sub-trajectories which are subjected to dual transformation that formulates the representatives of each linear component of initial trajectory; thus, the compressed trajectory achieves compression ratio equal to M : 1 . To our knowledge, we are the first to study and address k-NN queries on nonlinear moving object trajectories that are represented in dual dimensional space. Additionally, the proposed approach is expected to reinforce the privacy protection of such data. Specifically, even in case that an intruder has access to the dual points of trajectory data and try to reproduce the native points that fit a specific component of the initial trajectory, the identity of the mobile object will remain secure with high probability. In this way, the privacy of the k-anonymity method is reinforced. Through experiments on real spatial datasets, we evaluate the robustness of the new approach and compare it with the one studied in our previous work.

Many more prehistoric locations and material remains of man’s past are identified from different part of the world from the scholars of developed countries. In the one hand great amount of facilities and resources provided by their governments and related institutions, scholars of developed countries are working continuously in the field of archaeology and prehistory. Besides this the developing countries are struggling for physical development of the country with low amount of resources and they are incapable to allocate national budget for such studies and the scholars and researchers are badly suffered with low income level and high price for livelihood resulting low level of research capabilities. In this context research work on archaeology and prehistory is far away for them and many more prehistoric sites are still hidden under the geological strata of developing countries. There is a great danger of manipulation in data, possibility of forgery like Piltdown forgery and possible damage of megalithic graves for finding antiquities by tomb hunters. Damage of prehistoric sites, tombs and shelters is a great loss for human being not only for related countries, but for the people of the whole world. Therefore, need of collaborative research among the scholars of developed and underdeveloped countries is must for the development of anthropology in global context. In the context of this research work, we studied the problem of privacy preserving on spatiotemporal databases. In particular, we investigated the k-anonymity of mobile users based on real trajectory data. The k-anonymity set consists of the k nearest neighbors. We constructed a motion vector of the form (x,y,g,v) where x and y are the spatial coordinates, g is the angle direction, and v is the velocity of mobile users, and studied the problem in four-dimensional space. We followed two approaches. The former applied only k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN) algorithm on the whole dataset, while the latter combined trajectory clustering, based on K-means, with k-NN. Actually, it applied k-NN inside a cluster of mobile users with similar motion pattern (g,v). We defined a metric, called vulnerability, that measures the rate at which k-NNs are varying. This metric varies from 1 k (high robustness) to 1 (low robustness) and represents the probability the real identity of a mobile user being discovered from a potential attacker. The aim of this work was to prove that, with high probability, the above rate tends to a number very close to 1 k in clustering method, which means that the k-anonymity is highly preserved. Through experiments on real spatial datasets, we evaluated the anonymity robustness, the so-called vulnerability, of the proposed method.

For a long-distance pipeline, the seismic load is a four-dimensional space-time excitation that simultaneously changes with time and space. In this work, a novel random space-time seismic model is established for a long-distance pipeline, which uses the Clough-Penzien model based on a random process and model of a random field. The response analysis of a long-distance pipeline for multipoint excitation and a buried pressure pipeline are established, while the stress analysis of the buried pressure pipeline is carried out in combination with von Mises theory. In addition, we consider the impact of the site type. The application of the proposed methodology is proved through numerical simulation. A fuzzy damage model and fuzzy safety criteria are established to assess the degree of the structure. The results indicate that a reasonable assessment and design method should consider the coupling multi-influence domain. In particular, evaluation of the structural damage should be done to establish fuzzy damage models and fuzzy safety criteria. The effective measurement of the uncertainty of such parameters forms an important basis for subsequent structural reliability analysis and design.
