The present study evaluated the attitude of university students and teachers towards instructional role of artificial intelligence. It was a descriptive study and the researcher used survey approach for data collection. The data was collected from 323 university students and 196 university teachers by using two questionnaires developed (one for students and one for teachers) on five point rating (Likert) scales. Descriptive statistics i.e. percentage was used for data analysis. This study demonstrated positive attitude of university students and teachers towards AI and its instructional role. It appeared to be encouraging for the respondents as well as for the administrators and policy makers. The study suggested higher education institutions to formulate a feasible policy to get benefits of instructional role of AI in higher education.

Universities are specialized units aimed to deliver quality education and shaping future leadership to provide competent professionals to the industry. The establishment of ORIC in universities and significant increase in academia-industry linkage activities is strategic move towards achievement of the mentioned objectives. Bridging up the gap between academia and industry by adopting such strategies defines the successful role of HEIs. In view of increasing number of universities and continuous outflow of graduates it seems imperative to analyze and capitalize their potential towards the growth of economy. However, the unemployment ratio and limited growth in SME (Small & Medium sized Entities) sector reflect the insignificant absorption of graduates in corporate sector. The study aims to determine the factors that serve as barriers in achieving goals of HEIs by understanding the problems faced by university students in general and business graduates in particular on the basis of data gathered from 100 students from different universities present in Karachi. It shall also assists the policy makers in devising policy as per market demands, level of quality attained by universities, their involvement with corporate sector and in turn need of the industry to keep both parties at par in the fluctuating and contemporary era.

This study aimed to identify the most important challenges facing the Syrian refugee university students in Jordan camps, and the universities’ role in supporting them from their perspective, by providing answers to the following questions: What are the challenges that facing the Syrian refugee university students in Jordanian camps from their perspective? And what kind of support could Jordanian universities provide for the Syrian refugee university students from their perspective? This study employs a quantitative and qualitative approach and intends to explore the challenges and opportunities for Syrian refugee students in Jordan. The results show that the large number of Syrian Refugee University Students at Jordanian camps present challenges for local communities in meeting the needs of both the refugees and the host universities. Refugees face multiple challenges in Jordan:(1) Financial shortcomings; (2) legal issues including lack of documentation and restrictive host country policies; (3) Psychological and Family challenges. Findings of the study add to the understanding of the vital role of higher education in improving living conditions and giving a sense of hope for the future. The study offers policy and program recommendations to decision- and policy-makers for the national and international communities, donors and other institutions with the overall goal to improve and guide further practice and research in supporting access to higher education.

O texto apresenta uma das experiências do projeto Rede de Saberes – Permanência de Acadêmicos Indígenas no Ensino Superior, desenvolvido por quatro universidades, UCDB, UEMS, UFMS e UFGD, com aporte financeiro da Fundação Ford. In this study the authors tried to identify mediating role of innovation and moderating role of size of enterprise in the relationship Making a living with lawful earnings is possible by working for others, becoming self-employed or employing others. This paper aims at providing insights into the role of structural support and the use of E-learning such as business simulations games in developing entrepreneurial intentions of university students. The underlying theories of experiential learning, constructivist learning theory and bloom’s taxonomy are discussed in relation with the objectives of this study. The response of 252 university students from Malaysia was collected through self-administrative survey using simple random sampling technique. The results of PLS-SEM demonstrate a significant positive impact of E-learning resources and perceived structural support from Government in developing entrepreneurial inclinations of students at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). The present study provides an overview and highlight the role assumed by the institutions of higher education through adoption of E-learning resources in order to nurture entrepreneurship among young generation. Additionally, keeping in view the role of higher education in socio-economic development, recommendations have also been proposed for universities and policy makings institutions to cope with the current challenges of higher education.  The findings of this study have important implications of enhancing entrepreneurial capacity in Malaysia.

Since 1978 science and technology (S&T) have been officially seen as the motors of future growth and modernization of the Chinese economy. Much effort has been devoted to the formulation and implementation of policy to reform the S&T sector to ensure that it will contribute much more than it has in the past to social and economic development. One objective of the reforms has been to mobilize under-utilized resources to expand research and develop ment (R&D) activities. It is in this context that policy-makers in China started to focus their attention on the higher education sector (HES). The sector's potential role as an important R&D performer has been progressively articulated over time in breadth and depth as policy-makers’ concerns have expanded, to examine the relationship between training S&T personnel and scientific research in the context of the rapid changes wrought by the “new technological revolution” (xin jishu geming).

The role of teacher in higher education is very complex. It is recognized that academicians have a greater responsibility to pursue excellence in several directions including leadership, academic management, teaching skills, pursuing scholarships, research and knowledge exchange, supervision, and many more to maintain their professional status.  Academic practice is a term to encompass all these sides. The main objective of the study is to take the views of the teachers about the participation in different learning opportunities and to see their effect for sustainable professional development of university teachers. All the teachers of public sector universities in Islamabad and Rawalpindi encompass the population of the study. Using purposive sampling technique, data was collected through questionnaires. Chi-square test through SPSS was applied to analyze the data.  Data was presented in the form of tables, percentage with graphs and the results were interpreted accordingly.

Testing and examining go on in higher education all the time through continuous assessments and end semester examinations. The grades scored by students determine not only academic mobility but eventually who get employed in the job market, which seems to be shrinking all over the world. Those charged with testing are often staff who have higher qualifications in their subject areas but are not necessarily teaching or examination experts. Against this background, the researcher wanted to find out what was happening at selected university across three schools: Social Studies, Education and Science. The university is fairly young having been awarded its charter twenty years ago. The paper asked two questions namely, at what levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy are lecturers asking examination questions? Secondly, do the level and balance of questions show growth in examining skills? The study evaluated over 1039 questions from randomly selected examination papers from the Examinations Office for the academic years from 2014/15 to 2017/18 (three academic years). A guide from the list of verbs used in Anderson s (revision of Bloom was used to analyze the questions. Descriptive statistics were used to describe the trends in testing for each year. ANOVA and t-tests were used to find out if there were significant differences between numbers across categories and within categories. The results of the study show that most examination questions are at the levels of remember (literal) and knowledge (understand). In 2016/17 and 2017/18 academic years, there were significant differences in the percentage of questions examined in these two categories. However, it seems from the study, that testing or examining skills do not grow through the practice of setting questions. There is need for examiners to be trained to use the knowledge in setting questions that discriminate effectively across the academic abilities of students they teach.

ABSTRACTThe data on the prevalence of plagiarism in secondary education and higher education in anglosaxonic countries have been so high, considered by some authors as epidemics, that sparked an intense discussion and research. However, in most European countries, the debate seems limited to schools and teachers contexts. From a European project involving six countries, this paper aims to understand students’ perceptions of plagiarism, exploring the role of motivation and selfregulation in adolescents’ attitudes. For this, an investigation was performed with a socio-demographic questionnaire, a scale of attitudes toward plagiarism (adapted from Mavrinac, Brumini, Bilic-zulle & Petrovečki, 2010), an inventory to evaluate adolescent self- regulation (Dias, Garcia del Castillo & Moilanen, 2011) and motivation for learning (Midgley et al., 2001). Based on the data, descriptive statistics allow us to understand students’ proximity with plagiarism, and inferential data that relate adolescents’ attitudes to plagiarism with motivation, self-regulation and internet use. From these results implications for teachers’ practices are discussed and suggestions for prevention of plagiarism presented.RESUMOOs dados de prevalência do plágio no ensino secundário e no ensino superior nos países anglo-saxónicos têm sido tão elevados, considerados por alguns autores como epidémicos, que têm suscitado uma intensa discussão e investigação. Contudo, na maioria dos países europeus, o debate parece limitado aos contextos de escola e dos professores. A partir de um projecto europeu que envolveu seis países, pretende-se com este trabalho conhecer as percepções dos alunos sobre o plágio, explorando o papel da motivação e da auto-regulação nas atitudes dos adolescentes. Para isso, foi feita uma investigação com o recurso a um questionário sócio-demográfico, uma escala de atitudes em relação ao plágio (adaptada de Mavrinac, Brumini, Bilic-Zulle & Petrovečki, 2010), um inventário para avaliar a auto-regulação na adolescência (Dias, Garcia del Castillo & Moilanen, 2011) e motivação para a aprendizagem (Midgley et al., 2001). Women at Turkish Universities do not have the same level of representation as rectors as they have academics at the higher education. It is vital to have women, as one of the genders which comprises the community, at the higher education management as rectors to ensure the gender equality in Turkey. As well as the traditional roles assigned to women in Turkey, the lack of legal arrangements and challenges based on gender discrimination faced by women might be the cause of the women’s low representation in the higher education management. This study aims to explicate the experience of being a woman rector through qualitative data gathered from four rectors working at state and foundation universities in Turkey. The low representation of women in higher education management has been identified as a universal problem. It is obvious that woman academics in Turkish universities have low representation at the universities’ top management. Following two themes were identified: Perspectives of Women Rectors Regarding Their Roles and Challenges Faced. These themes were revealed through the voices of women rectors in Turkey. Therefore, this study is expected to bring unique insights both for university administrators and policy makers in terms of raising an awareness for the role of women leaders.

With the advent of internet and exponentially growing smartphone market, chatbots are becoming popular and are being widely used for interactions in varied fields. This study investigated the usage of chatbots for educational/learning purpose by university students. Wide research has been done exploring usage of chatbots in service industry; still there is vacuum regarding usage of chatbots in education for effective learning. Using path analysis, the study demonstrates validation of two newly added constructs as an extension in Technology Adoption Model and tries to understand the antecedents for intension to adopt chatbots. This study is of utmost importance to researchers, policy makers, system designers for e- learning platforms, teachers, and students in order to make learning effective.
