The researcher investigated the effect of whole brain teaching method toward students vocabulary achievement at SMPN 17 Kec. Kep Masaloka Raya. The design of the research was pre-experimental design. The population of the research were all the seventh grade students of SMPN 17 Kec. Kep. Masalaoka Raya. In taking sample the researcher using purposive sampling then the researcher chose class VII A of SMPN 17 Kec. Kep. Masaloka Raya which are consist of 28 students. The research used three kinds of vocabulary instrument. The instrument were fill the blank, match word, and rearrange word. The vocabularies test consist of 10 items each test. The test complied by the researcher based on the material in English book in the seventh grade, entitled Ring of The bells. In this research, quantitative data was collected and analyzed by using paired sample t test in SPSS 16.0. the result of the analysis show that the probability value (p) was lower than alpha value (α) at the level significant 95% (0.000 ˂ 0.05). This finding result justified that there was significant differences between students vocabulary score on pretest and post-test or there was significant effect of applying whole brain teaching method toward student vocabulary achievement at seventh grade of SMPN 17 Kec. Kep. Masaloka Raya after treatment. The result prove that the hypothesis of the research was accepted H1 but H0 was rejected.

This research was conducted to find out whether there was a significant effect of the Mnemonic method in teaching vocabulary mastery at the Seventh-grade students’ of SMPN 22 Buton Tengah. The design of the research was a pre-experimental design ( one group pre-test post-test design). The population of this research was the seventh-grade (VII) of SMPN 22 Buton Tengah which consists of three classes, while the sample in this research was class VII3 that consisted of 25 students and used a simple random sampling technique. The instrument in this study was multiple choices, matching tests and public buildings, food, people around us to the topic. This study was conducted three sections namely pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The researcher used a paired sample T-test through SPSS 16.0 version to analyze the result of this research. The result showed that the mean score of students’ vocabulary mastery in the post-test was higher than students’ vocabulary in the pre-test ( 53.6 > 45.28 ). The hypothesis testing found that the value of sig ( 2 Tailed ) was 0.00 while the significant alpha value was 0.05. It can be concluded that the value of Sig ( 2 Tailed) was lower than the significance of α value (0.000< 0.05). in other words, (H1) was accepted. It showed that there was a significant effect of using the Mnemonic Method on teaching vocabulary mastery at the seventh-grade students of SMPN 22 Buton Tengah.

AbstractThe method used in this research was action research applied in two cycles. This research was conducted to improve the Seventh Graders’ English vocabulary in SMP 1 PSKD, Jakarta. The 24 students of the seventh grade who participated in this study were taught vocabularies by using the TGT technique. The quantitative data, collected using tests, were analyzed by using the independent and paired sample t-test on SPSS version 22 program. The qualitative data, collected using the researchers’ diary notes, questionaire, open ended question sheets, and observation sheets, were analyzed descriptively. The results indicated that the TGT technique improved the participants’ English vocabulary, as shown by the increase of the mean scores of the tests conducted, i.e. the pre-test 55,94 (12,5%) increased to 66,81 (50%) of post-test of cycle I and to 83,23 (87,5%) of the post-test of cycle II. The statistical test also indicated that the use of TGT significantly increased the students’ English vocabulary. Based on the findings, it could be concluded that the use of TGT technique was effective to improve the seventh grade students’ English vocabulary. The objective of this research was to find out the improvement of students’ speaking skill teaching through Whole Brain Teaching method. The design used in this research was pre experimental. The population of this research was at the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 OKU and the sample were which consisted of 36 students. The researcher used purposive sampling in taking the samples. The pre-test and post-test were used as the techniques for collecting the data. Instrument in this research was an oral speaking test. Based on the result of the pre- test, the mean score of the pre-test was 56.28. The result of the post-test the mean score was 68.89. Based on the statistical analysis, the researcher found that the value of Sig.= 0,000 less than the value of Significance level (a=0,05 and df = 35). It means that  there was significantly improvement in teaching speaking by Whole Brain Teaching method at the the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 OKU.

The objective of this study is to find out the effect of using mobile access (Audio Visual Easy Learn English) on students’ vocabulary achievement at SMPN 11 Kendari. Mobile  Access  (Audio  visual  easy  learn  English)  as  a media in learning teaching process. This research used quasi experimental design, the population is all seventh- grade students, and the sample is class VII1 as the experimental group and VII2as control group. The experimental group consisted of 30 students and control group consisted of 21 students. The research instrument consisted of 44 questions of vocabulary test. To collect the data, the researcher gave pre-test, taught by using Mobile Access  (Audio  Visual  Easy  Learn  English),  and  giving post-test. Mean score of post-tests (79.63) in experimental class is higher than pre-test score (59.66). While, in control class also has improvement but not too significant. It can be seen on post-test score (64.80) is higher than pre-test score (55.19). Based on the calculation of T-test, it shows that tcount = 3.775, while t-table =2.010 at level of = 0.05 with DF = 49. It means that tcount is higher than table, Therefore H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. This can be concluded that  there  was a  significant  effect  of  using a significant effect using Mobile Access (Audio Visual Easy Learn English) on students’ vocabulary achievement at the seventh-grade students of SMPN 11 Kendari. Keywords: MA, Mobile Access, Audio Visual Easy Learn English, vocabulary achievement

The article discusses a study to measure the effectiveness of Indian Folklore Animation among Year Five SJK(T) pupils in the Kulim district. The study uses qualitative data for exploring twelve principles of animation and quantitative data for the research methodology approach. For qualitative data, ten animators were selected to analyse the twelve principles of animation in three series of selected Indian Folklore Animation using an animation principles checklist. For quantitative data, a pre-test post-test experimental design was used to measure the effectiveness of Indian Folklore Animation using a questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of four scales of Keller’s ARCS Model of Motivation. A total of 108 pupils from three schools was selected as respondents and were assigned into two groups (treatment and control group) consisted of 54 pupils each. Data collected were analysed using descriptive and inference statistics to answer the listed research objectives. Findings show that there are significant differences in mean scores for pre-test and post-test to show that the Indian Folklore gave motivational effects to the pupils. This implies that Indian Folklore Animation could be developed for Indian Folklore appreciations and for fostering good moral values through animation.

This research is based on the students’ motivation in studying English. It intends to prove that students can improve their motivation and it is seen in their achievement in their study. The purpose of this research is to prove that this method is effective in order to improve students’ motivation to learn English. This research is conducted at SMP Negeri 11 Bitung. The subject of this research is a seventh-grade student of SMP Negeri 11 Bitung consisted of 24 students. The design of this research is a pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test design. The data are collected through multiple choice as an instrument and with questionnaires and interviews to support the data. In analyzing the data writers use percentage formula. The result of this research shows that the score of the post-test is higher (72.09%) than the score of the pre-test (44.16%). Based on the fact of the result of this research, it can be concluded that the Audio-lingual method is effective to be applied in class to improve students’ motivation in studying English. Keywords: Teaching; Motivation; Audio-lingual method.

This research aimed to investigate whether Scrabble game has a significant effect on the eighth graders’ vocabulary mastery. This research was carried out by using experimental research method with one group pretest-posttest design. The eighth graders of class VIII-A were taught vocabularies using Scrabble game. The quantitative data, collected using tests, were analyzed by using the independent and paired sample t-test on SPSS version 19 program. The findings on this research showed the mean scores of pre-test and post-test, which were, 52.40 points and 45.64 respectively; the gain was -6.76 points and the result of hypothesis test, it was found that t count (1.569) was less than t table (2.06). The findings indicated that H0 was accepted. The conclusion of this research was Scrabble had no significant effect on the eighth graders’ vocabulary mastery.

This study is conducted to investigate the effect of using nursery rhymes on students’ English vocabulary (noun and adjective) achievement at fifth grade of SDN 10 Poasia. This study applied pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test design. The population of this study was all of V grade of SDN 10 Poasia consisting of 67 students. Technique of taking sample of this study was purposive sampling involving 21 students. Vocabulary achievement test in the form of multiple choices consisting of 37 numbers was used as instrument of this study. The result showed that there was a significant effect of using nursery rhymes in improving students’ English vocabulary achievement. It was proven by the improvement of students’ mean score from pre-test to post-test. The mean score for pre-test was 34.81 and the mean score for post-test increased to 76.81. It was supported with the result of t-test, the value of Sig. (2-tailed) was 0.000 with α = 0.05. H1 was accepted because the value of Sig. (2-tailed) was below α value. It means that there was a significant effect of using nursery rhymes on students’ English vocabulary achievement of the VB students’ of SDN 10 Poasia.

This study is based on the research which attempted to examine the effectiveness of realia in writing descriptive text by the seventh grade students. The objectives of the research were (1) to analyze and find out  the students’ ability in writing descriptive text who are taught by using realia, (2) to analyze and find out  the students’ ability in writing descriptive text who are taught without using realia, (3) also to analyze and find out whether there is significant difference between students who are taught by using realia and those taught without using realia. Quasi experimental design was used with the population of 256 seventh grade students of SMP N 4 Semarang in the academic year 2017/2018. By using purposive sampling technique, there were two classes chosen as the sample of this study; vii a and vii b. The instruments of collecting data used were tests; pre-test and post-test. After the data were collected, they were analysed using t-test. The findings were as follows: (1) the ability in writing descriptive text by the students taught using realia was good with the mean of the post-test was 80.21. (2) the ability in writing descriptive text by the students taught without using realia was adequate with the mean of the post-test was 74.44. (3) there was significant difference of the two group students. t-test 4.89 > t-table 2.00. therefore, ha was accepted that realia was effective as a media in teaching writing of descriptive text.

One of grammatical pattern of English that is important to be taught is imperative sentences. By having the knowledge about imperative sentences, students are supposed to be able to construct the sentences correctly. Although the students have learnt imperative sentences at school, most of them still find difficulties in understanding and using them. This study aimed at finding out whether using of traffic sign pictures able to improve the students’ ability in constructing imperative sentence. This study was conducted at the seventh grade of SMPN 2 Tellu Limpoe kabupaten Sidenreng Rappang by using pre-experimental method with one group on pre-test and post-test design. This study was conducted in eight meeting which consist of one meeting for pre-test, six meeting for treatment, and one meeting for post-test. The data were gathered through quantitative data. The study found out the use of traffic sign pictures was able to improve the students’ ability in constructing imperative sentence. This study also provides a set of recommendation to avoid the overlapped researches in English education.
