This article outlines the results of analysis of farm-valuable traits inheritance of F1 plants obtained on the basis of hybridization of varieties and lines belong to G.barbadense L.cotton plant species. Dominating level and its inheritance was determined to be under positive and medium negative, dominant and super dominant forms according to the studied cotton weight, fiber length and yield, weight of 1000 cotton seeds in one cotton boll. It is required to continue genetic-breeding research work on next generations for maintaining positive heterosis status achieved at F1 generation. In order to identify the interrelation of varieties by their farm-valuable traits through analyzing group division of clusters in which varieties are combined, a four-cluster type analysis was found to be the most favorable for an effective work. KEY WORDS: species, variety, line, hybridization, inheritance, cluster, generation, cotton weight, fiber length and yield, weight of 1000 cotton seeds in one cotton boll, dominating level, super dominant, heterosis, negative heterosis.

The article presents the experimental data on the assessment of economically useful traits of eleven new parthenocarpic heterotic cucumber hybrids under the conditions of the spring-summer turnover of the Kirov region. The problem of cultivation of thermophilic crops, which arises in the northern regions of the country, is one of the stages of breeding research. The cultivation of cucumber in the Kirov region is aggravated by unfavorable climatic conditions of the second light zone (short duration of the growing season, low positive temperatures, frosts in the third decade of July and in the first decade of August). The purpose of the scientific work is to evaluate and identify promising parthenocarpic heterotic hybrids of cucumber for growing in unheated greenhouses in the spring-summer turnover of the second light zone. The research was carried out in the laboratory of northern vegetable growing of the Kirov region at the All-Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Growing - a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution Federal Scientific Vegetable Centre in the conditions of polycarbonate unheated ground greenhouses during 2018-2019. As a result of phenological observations and assessment of biometric indicators, the early maturity, early maturity and marketability of the tested parthenocarpic heterotic cucumber hybrids of the selection of Agroholding Poisk and ARRIVG – a branch of the Federal Scientific Vegetable Centre were determined: F1 Avoska, F1 Atos, F1 Buket dlya mamy, F1 Multifrut, F1 Novator, F1 Piligrim, F1Sprinter, F1 Revansh, F1 Tonus, F1 Express in comparison with the zoned hybrid of cucumber F1 Carolina. A strong negative influence of climatic conditions of the second light zone on the duration of the seedling-fruiting period was determined, which on average over the years of research, depending on the hybrid, varied from 47 to 55 days. It has been established that to obtain early production of cucumber in polycarbonate unheated ground greenhouses of the Kirov region, heterotic parthenocarpic cucumber hybrids F1 Sprinter (3.6 kg/m2), F1 Avoska (2.1 kg/m2) and F1 Atos (2.5 kg/m2). Parthenocarpic cucumber hybrids F1 Sprinter and F1 Atos were noted, which have the highest yield of marketable products, 95.7 and 94.0%, respectively. The most productive parthenocarpic cucumber hybrid F1Novator (16.1 kg/m2) has been identified. As a result of the research work, it was recommended to grow parthenocarpic cucumber hybrids F1Novator, F1 Sprinter, F1 Atos and F1 Avoska under conditions of unheated greenhouses of spring-summer turnover of the Kirov region.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to characterize the consumers of mezcal in México based on their motivations, identifying different groups of consumers and their demographic characteristics. Design/methodology/approach A questionnaire based on the Food Choice Questionnaire was applied to 310 consumers: 154 directly to mezcal consumers in three “mezcalerías” (mezcal bars) and 156 through five social networking communities of mezcal consumers. The data obtained were analysed using multivariate statistics, factor and cluster analysis. Findings The results show that the search for tradition is the determining buying motivation, whereas quality seals do not exert a significant influence. Four profiles of mezcal consumers can be identified according to their consumption patterns: consumer linked to the territory, traditional consumer, consumer in transition and social consumer. The predominant demographic characteristics in the four consumer groups described a male, between 20 and 39 years old, single, childless, with professional education and employed. The overall results reveal a consumer who shares the quality criteria established by mescal-producing communities and is strongly interested in traditionally processed drinks. Originality/value In México, there are two important distilled drinks, tequila and mezcal. There is ample research on the first one, but there is less research on mezcal, despite it has an annual increase of 45 per cent in consumption. Most of the research work has been focused on aspects of diversity, sustainability and productivity, but there are not studies on the factors that affect mezcal consumption. Thus, this paper aims to characterize the consumers of mezcal, based on their motivations.

Wool fibers grown on 2 cm2 of skin were removed from the shoulder region of 273 female yearlings born at La Pocatiere Experimental Farm over a period of 3 yr. The yearlings represented nine genetic groups, Finnsheep, DLS (a population of 1/2 Dorset, 1/4 Leicester, 1/4 Suffolk) and seven combinations ranging from 1/8 to 7/8 Finnsheep breeding. The traits studied were staple length, fiber density, clean wool percentage, fiber length and thickness and their variability. Grease fleece weight (GFW) was recorded at first shearing on the 273 yearlings and on an additional 90 female yearlings. GFW was subsequently recorded at yearly intervals up to the 5th shearing. GFW of Finnsheep (F) was 2.3 kg for yearlings and averaged 2.0 kg for older ewes compared to 2.3 and 2.8 kg for the DLS, respectively. The crosses showed positive deviations from the expected means of their parental breeds, the highest was expressed in the [Formula: see text] and 5/8F crosses, GFW exceeded in many crosses that of the better parental breed. The relationship between GFW and the proportion of Finnsheep in the genetic group was linear in second shearing and curvilinear for later shearings. Significant linear relations were also observed in fiber thickness and variability in both fiber length and fiber thickness, whereas significant curvilinear relations were observed in clean wool percentage and fiber length. Compared to DLS, Finnsheep had a higher fiber density (1950 vs. 1551 cm−2), fibers were longer (19.1 vs. 15.8 cm) more variable in length (SD = 4.66 vs. 2.96 cm), finer (20.5 vs. 25.5 μm, and uniform in fiber thickness (SD = 4.8 vs. 5.9 μm), these differences being statistically significant. Most of the crosses exhibited positive heterosis particularly in clean wool percentage, staple and fiber length. The highest heterosis was often manifested in the [Formula: see text] cross. Key words: Wool production, fleece characteristics, crossbreeding, heterosis, Finnsheep, DLS sheep

The use of technology is changing the way things are done, including the work in universities where the teaching and learning process are changing, and it is required to know the effect of technology on student achievement. In this research work, we present the influence of Internet use on academic success of students from five universities in Ecuador. A random sample of 4,697 people was got up and categorized in two groups: the use of Internet in academic activities and entertainment, using factor analysis and cluster analysis; the resulting categories were used as independent variables in multinomial logistic regression model which are seeking to determine if the use of Internet has impacted on academic success. The results show that people who perform interactive activities with peers and teachers or use in a balanced way the different internet tools tend to have more academic success than those who only seeks information. Regarding to the use of Internet in entertainment, a positive impact was found on academic achievement. Students who download audio, video and software, and students who use all the entertainment possibilities show less likely to fail than who using minimally Internet. In terms of gender, it has different effects for entertainment and academic purposes.

The behavior of a composite material under mechanical loading condition is significantly influenced by the geometrical dimensions (length and diameter) and the total content of reinforcing fiber. Therefore, this research work focused the effect of fiber length and content on the mechanical behavior of pineapple leaf fiber (PALF) reinforced-epoxy composites. In this regard, the total of four composite samples for each fiber length (10, 15, 20, and 25 mm) and content (17, 23, 34, and 43 vol.%) were developed using a hand lay-up molding technique and characterized for mechanical properties according to ASTM standards. The tensile and flexural strength of a composite was increased with the increase of PALF length and content up to 15 mm and 34 vol.% respectively. However, the composite of 25 mm fiber length with 43% fiber volume content exhibits the maximum impact strength.

Aim. To generalize the experience in teaching the fundamental and optional subjects at the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology, find new methodological and pedagogical techniques in order to optimize the assimilation of basic medical concepts and skills among foreign applicants for higher education. Materials and methods. Within the framework of this study the modern data on methods and aids in teaching were studied, approaches to teaching the disciplines of the biomedical profile, such as “Microbiology with the basics of immunology” as a fundamental subject, and disciplines “Epidemiology of diseases” and “Tropical infections” as optionalsubjects for foreign applicants for higher education at the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology of the National University of Pharmacy were systematized and analyzed. Results and discussion. The discipline “Microbiology with the basics of immunology” refers to the fundamental disciplines of the biomedical profile, which is studied by foreign applicants for higher education of the pharmaceutical faculty. At the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology of the National University of Pharmacy various modern methodological techniques are used when conducting lectures, practical classes and seminars. In the educational process modern methods of teaching, monitoring and assessing knowledge are widely used in the form of a computer survey that involves foreign students in the process of mastering computer technologies aimed at forming their knowledge;it helps to successfully solve educational problems within the classroom setting. The widespread use of the test control of knowledge is an important means of increasing the effectiveness of the educational process. The inclusion of interactive forms in the educational process relieves the nervous load of students, makes it possible to change the forms of activity, switch attention to the key issues of the topic of the lessons. It is also ethodologically interesting to conduct practical classes in the form of a discussion abstract conference, as well as the use of role-playing games. All this allows an objective assessment of the student’s preparation for the lesson, develops communication skills, creative thinking, an active life position, the ability to formulate thoughts using professional terms, forms public speaking skills, forms stereotypes of professional behavior and their correction in communication. Conclusions. In recent years, the Ukrainian education system has been undergoing modernization of the learning process. Constant changes open up the need for each teacher to search for such pedagogical technologies that will motivate students, will make them interested in studying the discipline. This is especially true for such a category of students as foreign students. Thus, for the successful formation of effective educational activities of foreign students it is necessary to have modern educational and methodological literature, creative organization of the students’ independent work aimed at the wide use of active teaching methods (group discussions, business games), the effective work with information, setting and solving scientific practical problems, the participation of teachers and students in joint research work.
