The article discusses an algorithm for generating a new class of polyphase pseudo-random sequences with a nonlinear generation algorithm for use in secure communication systems with spread spectrum technology. In particular, the proposed sequences are relevant to use for generating signals in a secure command radio link between unmanned vehicles located in different environments, and dispatch centers of the "smart city". An analysis of the existing ensembles and an assessment of their main characteristics are carried out. Namely, the size of the ensemble, which affects the security of the communication system, and the level of maximum emissions of the cross-correlation function. The existing ensembles of polyphase pseudo-random sequences do not simultaneously have satisfactory values of the considered indicators. Therefore, an urgent task is to develop an ensemble that finds a compromise between these two characteristics and has a nonlinear generation algorithm. The essence of the algorithm for the formation of the proposed new class of polyphase pseudo-random sequences is to expand the classical polyphase sequences, for example, Frank, Chu, or Milewski, which have good correlation properties, de Bruijn sequences with a large ensemble and a nonlinear formation algorithm. Comparative analysis of the proposed method for forming a class of polyphase sequences shows the advantage of its use. In particular, an improvement in cross-correlation characteristics and a significant increase in the size of the ensemble of new sequences compared to the original sequences are shown. These properties can be used to increase the structural secrecy of command radio links.

Advanced computer technologies such as big data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud computing, digital twins, and edge computing have been applied in various fields as digitalization has progressed. To study the status of the application of digital twins in the combination with AI, this paper classifies the applications and prospects of AI in digital twins by studying the research results of the current published literature. We discuss the application status of digital twins in the four areas of aerospace, intelligent manufacturing in production workshops, unmanned vehicles, and smart city transportation, and we review the current challenges and  topics that need to be looked forward to in the future. It was found that the integration of digital twins and AI has significant effects in aerospace flight detection simulation, failure warning, aircraft assembly, and even unmanned flight. In the virtual simulation test of automobile autonomous driving, it can save 80% of the time and cost, and the same road conditions reduce the parameter scale of the actual vehicle dynamics model and greatly improve the test accuracy. In the intelligent manufacturing of production workshops, the establishment of a virtual workplace environment can provide timely fault warning, extend the service life of the equipment, and ensure the overall workshop operational safety. In smart city traffic, the real road environment is simulated, and traffic accidents are restored, so that the traffic situation is clear and efficient, and urban traffic management can be carried out quickly and accurately. Finally, we looked forward to the future of digital twins and AI, hoping to provide a reference for future research in related fields.

This paper is devoted to identifying the most likely threats to the transport environment of a smart city. The analysis of the published plans for the development of the smart city transport environment in Russia and abroad allowed us to determine the main directions in this area. By means of modeling, approximate scenarios of harm to public relations are formulated. It is established that in relation to one of the possible threats (causing harm during the operation of unmanned vehicles), the current criminal legislation is powerless. It is determined that the regulation of issues related to «intellectual» technologies, including those related to harm caused by them, should be based on certain General provisions that have a universal character. The work was carried out with the financial support of the RFBR under agreement no. 19-29-069 mk.

The stochastic resonance (SR) in direct-modulated laser diodes is investigated using an analytical approach based on the laser rate equations for the carrier and photon densities, that include the cross correlation between the photon and carrier noises. This subject may be particularly important in the domain of Optical Communication Systems, where increasing demands on laser performance have led to the fabrication of more and more complex structures. In viewing the development of the associated technology, the importance of the simulation tools revealed of crucial importance.

The article introduces a method of performing a radio link quality assessment based on the Link Quality Indicator (LQI) which will be calculated for every system that is available. The method presented has been developed during the netBaltic project completed in Poland and generally applies to the so-called maritime zone A, i.e. the sea area where ships are still within the range of shore-based radio communication systems, particularly 3G/LTE cellular networks. The algorithm was developed based on the results of measurements obtained during two separate campaigns. That measurement data served as a basis for the method’s initial assumptions and was utilized during the method’s verification.

AbstractInter-satellite communication links are very crucial between satellites orbiting around the earth in order to transmit information between them and also for the purpose of data relaying from one satellite station to other stations and ground stations. Inter-satellite optical wireless communication (IsOWC) links involve the application of optical wireless signals as compared to radio frequency signals used in traditional satellite communication systems. One of the major problems leading to the performance degradation of IsOWC link is the signal degradation due to satellite vibrations also known as pointing errors. In this paper, the performance of an IsOWC communication link has been investigated for different system parameters such as data transmission rates, antenna aperture diameter, transmission power levels, operating wavelength and responsivity of photodiode by analyzing

The article examines the problems of navigation and communication with the use of satellite technologies in road transport in the context of the growth of globalization processes in the world economy and the transformations of freight transport technologies caused by a large-scale transition to transport with zero emissions and the development of unmanned vehicles. The paper discusses the principles of building a global high-speed broadband satellite Internet with low latency. Potential capabilities of technologies such as digital antenna arrays and laser communication channels used in such systems are analyzed. Also considered are the existing and potential problems, both technical with electromagnetic compatibility with existing satellite communication systems and between systems under construction or planning, and legal caused by changes in the principles of information transfer at the interstate level. The main players in the emerging market of high-speed satellite communications are considered and the parameters of the systems declared by them are described. The comparison of the current state of building satellite constellations of individual projects is carried out and the ability to implement the announced plans by individual companies is analyzed. The disadvantages that create obstacles for the introduction of high-speed satellite communications in road transport at the moment and the directions of their overcoming are highlighted. Considering the potential of satellite Internet systems, the current state of construction, as well as existing technical and legal restrictions, the introduction of reliable satellite communications will significantly speed up the transition to autonomous unmanned vehicles. In this regard, the most successful opportunities for the new communication technology will be able to realize the transport companies, which will simultaneously update the fleet of vehicles towards zero emissions and with unmanned technologies.

The proposed work aims at exploring and developing new strategies to extend mission parameters (measured as travel distance and mission duration (MD)) of a new class of unmanned vehicles, named Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs). In this paper, a new analytical model, identifying all factors, which determine the MAV power consumption, is presented. Starting from the new model, the design of a nanoarray energy harvester, based on plasmonics nano-antenna technology is proposed. The preliminary study was based on a 22,066,058 22,066,058 × 62,800-dipole rectenna array producing an output power level of 84.14 mW, and an energy value of 2572 J under a power density of 100 mW/cm² and a resonant frequency of 350 THz as input conditions. The preliminary analytical results show a possible recharge of an ultra-fast rechargeable battery on board of a MAV and an MD improvement of 16.30 min.

Low frequency ultrasounds in air are widely used for real-time applications in short-range communication systems and environmental monitoring, in both structured and unstructured environments. One of the parameters widely evaluated in pulse-echo ultrasonic measurements is the time of flight (TOF), which can be evaluated with an increased accuracy and complexity by using different techniques. Hereafter, a nonstandard cross-correlation method is investigated for TOF estimations. The procedure, based on the use of template signals, was implemented to improve the accuracy of recursive TOF evaluations. Tests have been carried out through a couple of 60 kHz custom-designed polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hemicylindrical ultrasonic transducers. The experimental results were then compared with the standard threshold and cross-correlation techniques for method validation and characterization. An average improvement of 30% and 19%, in terms of standard error (SE), was observed. Moreover, the experimental results evidenced an enhancement in repeatability of about 10% in the use of a recursive positioning system.
