Introduction: Low intensity electromagnetic effects possess a high biological activity, reduce the adaptive reserves of the body, impair immunity, adversely affect the functional state of the organs and body systems. The aim of the study was to identify in the experiment the effect of low-frequency electromagnetic radiation on the morphological state of the dental and periodontal tissue. Materials and methods: The experiment was conducted on WAG rats weighing 180–200 g, during which two groups were formed: group 1 (control group) included 12 WAG rats, which were not performed any manipulations; the rats of group 2 (investigation group) (n=12) for 30 days were exposed to a 70 kHz low-frequency alternating electric field (5th frequency range) daily from 9.00 to 12.00. To simulate a low-frequency 70 kHz alternating electric field, certified experimental equipment was used. The study material was the upper jaw tissue. Histological and histochemical staining methods were used. Morphometric study was conducted. Results: Complex morphological study on the experimental material allowed identifying the damaging effect of low-frequency electromagnetic radiation on the structural components of tooth and periodontal tissues. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that the workers who are exposed to occupational low-frequency electromagnetic radiation should be included in the risk group for developing diseases of the dentomandibular system in order to carry out timely therapeutic and preventive measures.

In modern conditions there is a high need to improve methods for establishing the nature of the combined influence of factors using modern approaches for further development of prevention measures against the negative impact of factors on the body. The purpose of the study was to investigate the combined effect of electromagnetic radiation and low temperatures with subsequent determination of the level of contribution of each factor in the formation of biological effects within the experiment by mathematical analysis of data using the method of artificial intelligence. Materials and methods. The subchronic experiment (30 days) was performed on male rats. The animals were divided into groups: combined exposure to electromagnetic radiation (70 kHz, 600 V/m) and reduced temperature (40C), isolated exposure to reduced temperature, isolated exposure to electromagnetic radiation and a control group. The establishment of biological effects was performed at stages 5, 15 and 30 days of the experiment. Changes in the body were assessed by physiological, biochemical and immunological parameters of the blood (30 indicators). Data processing was performed using computational intelligence methods (Neuro-fuzzy system). Results and discussion. The combined effect of the factors was manifested by the following biological effects: intensification of peroxidation processes with simultaneous moderate suppression of antioxidant protection, intensification of lipid metabolism was characterized by dyslipoproteinemia, manifesting in: increase in triglycerides, cholesterol and its fractions. Changes of the immune system were decrease in the ability of neutrophils to phagocytosis at different stages of the experiment, imbalance of the activation of the system of reducing the concentration of C4 at the background of increased intensity of IgM and IgG synthesis. The method of determining the intensity of the factors, developed on the basis of factor and cluster analysis, allowed to determine that during the experiment the ratios between the factors changed, but the greatest contribution was made by reduced temperature by both biochemical parameters (63%) and immunological (53%) at the same time, the level of electromagnetic radiation contribution was 37% and 47%, respectively. Thus, the reduced temperature was the leading factor in the combined effect, which added 60% to the overall biological effect throughout the study, against the effect of electromagnetic radiation for which the level of contribution was only 40%. By means of the factor analysis informative indicators, making it possible to establish the characteristics of biological effects, and therefore leading indicators in formation of biological effects were the increase in concentration of DC with simultaneous decrease in concentration of SH-groups, increase in VLDL and suppression of oxygen-dependent metabolism of neutrophil-test. Conclusion. Thus, the tested mathematical approach allowed to determine the leading role of each of the studied factors under the conditions of their combined influence in different systems, which allows to predict probable appropriate reactions of the whole organism and gives a reasonable approach to the development of preventive measures

The observed electromagnetic response of a finite body is caused by induction and polarization currents in the body and by the distortion of the induction currents in the surrounding medium. At a sufficiently low frequency, there is negligible induction and the measured response is that of the body distorting the background currents just as it would distort a direct current (dc). Because this dc response is not inherently frequency dependent, any observed change in response of the body for frequencies low enough to be in this dc limit must result from frequency‐dependent conductivity. Profiles of low‐frequency natural electric (telluric) fields have spatial anomalies over finite bodies of fixed conductivity that are independent of frequency and have no associated phase anomaly. If the body is polarizable, the electric field profile over the body becomes frequency dependent and phase shifted with respect to a reference field. The technique was tested on data acquired in a standard continuous profiling magnetotelluric (MT) survey over a strong induced polarization (IP) anomaly previously mapped with a conventional pole‐dipole IP survey. The extracted IP response appears in both the apparent resistivity and the normalized electric field profiles.

The paper introduces a three dimensional multidomainboundary element model of a pregnant woman and foetus for the analysis of exposure to high voltage extremely low frequency electric fields. The definition of the differentphysical and geometrical properties of the relevant tissues is established according to medical information available in existing literature. The model takes into account changes in geometry, body mass, body fat, and overall chemical composition in the body which influence the electrical properties, throughout the different gestational periods. The developed model is used to solve the case of exposure to overhead power transmission lines at different stages of pregnancy including weeks 8, 13, 26 and 38. The results obtained are in line with those published in the earlier works considering different approaches. In addition, a sensitivity analysis involving varying scenarios of conductivity, foetus postures and geometry for each stage is defined and solved. Finally, a correlation between the externally applied electric field and the current density inside the foetus is established and the zones of maximum exposure are identified.

The microscopic characteristics of a functional fluid for a micro polishing process were investigated by microscopic observation and micro particle image velocimetry. This functional fluid, which consists of suspended micro scale diamond particles in insulated silicon oil, has two specific flow structures under a high-voltage alternating electric field. One flow structure consists of a reciprocating flow generated in one direction between the electrodes under low-electric-field and high-frequency conditions. The other flow structure consists of a rotational flow formed under high-electric-field and low-frequency conditions. These specific flow structures contribute actively to a polishing process and to the development of micro fluidic devices in the future. In the present study, the effect of the electric field on specific flow structures and the mechanism of the induced flow are clarified.

The article presents the results of clinical examination of periodontal tissues in adolescents against the background of alimentary-constitutional obesity. The aim of the study – to investigate the features of the course of diseases of the periodontal tissue according to clinical indices in persons with alimentary-constitutional obesity.Materials and Methods. As a result of the survey, 95 adolescents aged 16–18 years old were included to study the features of the course of infl ammatory diseases of periodontal tissues in adolescents with alimentary-constitutional obesity 76 adolescents and 19 adolescents with harmonious physical development. To clarify the diagnosis, «excessive body weight» was determined by weight and height of the patient, and measured the circumference of the waist and hips. In the future, the body mass index (BMI) was calculated as the ratio of body weight in kg to square of growth in m2. Diagnosis of excess body weight was confi rmed with BMI less than 30kg/m2. The evaluation of the condition of periodontal tissues was carried out according to subjective and objective criteria (clinical parameters, index score). For the verifi cation of the pathological process in the periodontium, the classifi cation of M. F. Danilevskyi (1994) was used. The state of periodontal tissues was described using a traditional index score. Statistical processing of the results was carried out using commonly used methods of variation statistics with a help of personal computer using a statistical software package «Statistica 8.0» («Statsoft», USA). The probability level was estimated at 95 % (p<0.05) using Student’s t criterion.Conclusions. Consequently, the clinical indicators of the state of periodontal tissues in the context of alimentaryconstitutional obesity (Fedorov-Volodkin’s index, Green-Vermillion index, Sillness-Loe index, CPITN index) signifi cantly deteriorate compared with the corresponding indicators in the control group of adolescents without AKO, indicating the effect of alimentary-constitutional obesity on the clinical course, the severity and severity of theinfl ammatory process and the feasibility of timely and effective pharmacotherapy.

In the structure of modern diseases, there are 50-75% of psychosomatic diseases. To understand the role of the emotional factor in the onset and progression of somatic disorders, as well as the opposite process – the emergence of psychological and emotional disorders as a response to an acute or chronic disease of internal organs – acquires a particular importance and relevance at the present stage of the causality of the disease. Individual features of the response of the human body to social, biological factors have common mechanisms of combined damage to the mucous membrane of the oral cavity and periodontal tissue. The severity of the damage to these organs and tissues is also determined by the psychological characteristics of individuals. These points are important not only for understanding the causality of the combined pathology of the periodontal and oral mucosa, but also for choosing the optimal tactics for treating such dental patients. The aim of the work was to analyze the role of psychosomatic correlations in the occurrence and development of the combined pathology of the periodontal and oral mucosa, determining the tactics of their treatment. 32 patients were involved in the examination with pathological changes of periodontal and oral mucosa. The essential role of the emotional component in the genesis of diseases was confirmed. Taking into account the psychosomatic nature of the pathology in the experimental group of patients, recommendations were given on diet therapy, psychotherapy, autogenic training. General medical treatment for internists and dentists was maximally individualized, taking into account the psychological characteristics of the response to the disease, differentiated according to the nature of the existing diseases, severity, pathology. After 6 months of follow-up, a stable, reliable positive clinical result was obtained in all patients in the experimental group and in 64% in the control group. Accounting for the state of psychosomatic relationships in the mechanisms of origin, development, treatment of diseases is extremely important. This approach in the supervision of dental patients who have combined changes in periodontal tissues, the oral mucosa allows achieving positive results of treatment, both in relation to the condition of the oral cavity, and for the body as a whole.

The paper deals with the deterministic-stochastic model of the human body represented as cylindrical antenna illuminated by a low frequency electric field. Both analytical and numerical (Galerkin-Bubnov scheme of Boundary Element Method) deterministic solutions of the problem are outlined. This contribution introduces the new perspective of the problem: the variability inherent to input parameters, such as the height of the body, the shape of the body, and the conductivity of body tissue, is propagated to the output of interest (induced axial current). The stochastic approach is based on the stochastic collocation (SC) method. Computational examples show the mean trend of both analytically and numerically computed axial current with the confidence margins for different set of input random variables. The results point out the possibility of improving the efficiency in calculation of basic restriction parameter values in electromagnetic dosimetry.
