Every manufacturing company will strive to create the best quality products. This is also done by PT. CMSM, a steel company, is producing corrugated zinc products. In several production periods, the defective product values were still found that exceeded the tolerance limit value set at 0.5% in corrugated zinc products. These problems are, of course, very detrimental to the company, so it’s essential to control the quality of corrugated zinc products. This study aimed to determine the factors that cause product defects, propose plans to improve product quality, and provide managerial recommendations based on Six Sigma analysis. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the study results, it is known that DPO is 0.000885 and DPMO is 884.6028. At this time, the company is at the level of 4.64 sigma with CTQ (Critical to Quality) folded zinc sheet, cut size is not according to standard, thickness is not according to standard, uneven coating layer and perforated zinc sheet. Based on the analysis, five factors cause product defects: humans, machines, methods, materials, and the environment. To improve quality, the company should improve their quality control through 5W + 1H analysis, namely by providing training to employees, periodic machine maintenance and ensuring that the SOPs that have been made are implemented correctly and adequately. Keywords: six sigma, DMAIC, product defect, quality control, manufacturing

Periods of unfavorable storing conditions can lead to changes in the quality of fish feeds, as well as the development of relevant mycotoxins. In the present study, a commercial fish feed was stored under defined conditions for four weeks. The main findings indicate that even storing fish feeds under unsuitable conditions for a short duration leads to a deterioration in quality. Mycotoxin and fungal contamination were subsequently analyzed. These investigations confirmed that different storage conditions can influence the presence of fungi and mycotoxins on fish feed. Notably, ochratoxin A (OTA) was found in samples after warm (25 °C) and humid (>60% relative humidity) treatment. This confirms the importance of this compound as a typical contaminant of fish feed and reveals how fast this mycotoxin can be formed in fish feed during storage.

The quality of remanufacturing products, which is always restricting the development of remanufacturing industry, is one of sixty-four-dollar questions. By detecting the cores, process control in remanufacturing production and certificating remanufacturing products, quality control of remanufacturing products is studied. Because of cores different in original states, remanufacturing is in low-volume on the whole. Based on Bayesian posterior analysis, the paper improves the control chart and uses the previous data to monitor the production process. Finally, some advances are given to remanufacturing product certification.

<p>The article describes the necessity of an incoming quality control of the delivered power electronics elements especially at the stage of choosing a reliable supplier. In particular, in the field of the metal core PCBs production, there is a need to control not only its heat sink parameters, but also to control the quality of the joint interface of the metal core PCBs. Since the use of poor-quality materials or the violation of the technological process by the manufacturer can lead to the defects in the PCBs structure. Thus it can affect the heat sink efficiency and the reliability of the entire assembly. The article proposes and describes the method of nondestructive incoming quality control of metal core PCBs. This method is based on the use of ultrasonic layer-by-layer scanning for obtaining the internal structure of PCBs. The article presents the results of applying this method for the PCBs of various manufacturers. The data of the structure visualization and the influence of environment temperatures changes were also obtained. The result pictures of the tested samples before and after the thermal circling were obtained to study the possible degradation of the PCBs structure and its parameters.</p>

The interaction between human papillomavirus (HPV) particles and cell surface heparan sulfate requires intact conformation of the HPV particles. Type-specific HPV serology is currently based on virus-like particles (VLPs) with intact conformation. Presence of incorrectly folded VLPs in VLP preparations is recognized as an important cause of cross-reactivity in HPV serology. Heparin-coated microtitre plates were evaluated for capturing conformationally correct VLPs and improving the type specificity of HPV serology. Hybrid VLPs between HPV16 and HPV11, which had been found to have significant reactivity with children's sera and a batch of HPV18 VLPs that had failed the quality control because of significant reactivity with sera from virginal women, were tested in parallel with heparin ELISA, ordinary ELISA and type-specific mAb capture ELISA. Control sera from children that had detectable reactivity with HPV16/11 hybrid VLPs in ordinary ELISA did not react in heparin-based ELISA, but some hybrid VLPs also had background reactivity in capture ELISAs. Control sera from virginal women that had some reactivity with a poor quality HPV18 VLP preparation in ordinary ELISA had no reactivity in heparin or capture ELISA, suggesting that certain VLP preparations expose cross-reactive epitopes that are not exposed on VLPs with heparin-binding ability. As the sensitivity was similar or only marginally affected by the use of heparin plates, use of heparin-coated plates may improve the type specificity of VLP-based ELISAs and reduce interassay variability attributable to variable quality of different VLP batches.

The increasing costs of commercial fish feeds have made it imperative for most small-scale pond fish farmers in Ghana to resort to the use of alternative feed types to feed cultured fish. Some fish farmers rotate commercial feeds with farm-made types. This study was carried out to investigate the production and use of farm-made fish feeds by small-scale pond fish farmers in five major pond fish farming Regions (Ashanti, Brong-Ahafo, Central, Volta and Western) in Ghana. Of the 147 farmers interviewed in all the five regions, 86 farmers used farm-made feeds of which 37 depended solely on farm-made feeds whilst 49 used both commercial and farm-made feeds. Farm-made feeds were produced using locally available ingredients and the most used oneswere groundnut bran (92%), fish meal (90%), wheat bran (74%) and maize (60%). The farmers did not follow appropriate and standardized feed formulation protocol during farm-made fish feed production. Hence, farm-made fish feeds produced by all farmers interviewed were found not to be nutritionally balanced. There is the need for small-scale pond fish farmers in Ghana to be trained in formulation and production of nutritionally balanced and cost-effective fish feeds so as to increase fish production through aquaculture in the country.

Fish feed should be characterized by microbiological stability to guarantee the optimal health of farmed fish. The aim of this study was to determine the efficacy of amaranth meal (Amaranthus cruentus) and a highly active environmental strain of probiotic bacteria, Carnobacterium maltaromaticum, as novel supplements that stabilize the quantitative and qualitative composition of microbiota in compound fish feeds for aquaculture, regardless of storage temperature. The total viable counts of mesophilic bacteria at 28 °C (TVC 28 °C), hemolytic mesophilic bacteria (Hem 37 °C), Staphylococcus sp. bacteria, aerobic spore-forming bacteria (ASFB), sulfite-reducing anaerobic spore-forming Clostridium sp. bacteria, yeasts, and molds were analyzed in control feed (CF), in feed supplemented with amaranth meal (AF), and in feed supplemented with amaranth meal and C. maltaromaticum (ACF), stored at a temperature of 4 °C and 20 °C for 98 days. Amaranthus cruentus and C. maltaromaticum significantly reduced bacterial counts in fish feeds, regardless of the temperature and duration of storage. The antibacterial and antifungal effects of the tested additives were statistically significant (p ≤ 0.05). The studied novel supplements contribute to the microbiological safety of compound fish feeds. The tested additives could be recognized as the key ingredients of organic, environmentally friendly fish feeds, which guarantee the high quality of fish intended for human consumption.

In quality assurance of hexagonal paving block products, quality control is needed so the products that produced are in accordance with the specified standards. Quality control carried out involves two interconnected quality characteristics, that is thickness and weight of hexagonal paving blocks, so multivariate control chart is used. Improved Generalized Variance control chart is a tool used to control process variability in multivariate manner. Variability needs to be controlled because of in a production process, sometimes there are variabilities that caused by engine problems, operator errors, and deffect in raw materials that affect the process. The purpose of this study is to apply Improved Generalized Variance control chart in controlling the quality of hexagonal paving block products and calculating the capability of production process to meet the standards. Based on the assumption of multivariate normal distribution test, it can be seen that the data of quality characteristics of hexagonal paving blocks have multivariate distribution. While based on the correlation test between variables it can be concluded that the characteristics of the quality of thickness and weight correlate with each other. The result of the control using these control chart shows that the process is statistically in control. The results of process capability analysis show that the production process has been running according to the standard because the process capability index value is generated using a weighting of 0.5 for each quality characteristic that is 1.01517. Keywords: Paving Block, Quality Control, Variability, Improved Generalized Variance, Process Capability Analysis

In a production process, when quality of the product depends on more than one characteristic, 'Multivariate Quality Control' (MQC) techniques are efficiently used. Many MQC techniques have been developed to control the multivariate variable processes, but no much work has been reported to control the multivariate attribute processes. In this article, to detect a change in the vector of fraction non-conforming, we develop 'Likelihood Ratio based Multi-Attribute Control Chart' (LR-MACC) using the exact joint distribution and the LR-test under multinomial setup. It is verified that, in some situations, LR-MACC is superior to the MNP chart proposed by Lu et al.7 When MACC gives a signal, the attributes responsible are not readily identifiable. Therefore, a procedure to detect the responsible attributes is also developed.
